Olivia's reaction was a bit OTT, was it not? Girl must've really bought her own hype

She looked super confident she wasnt gonna be bottom 3. The look on her face when they said her name was quite something.

Then she probably assumed she’d go through over Martin too (to be fair I did too) although I do miss the sing off.

I'd be pissed off too if I lost a singing contest to the performance Martin gave

That result was absolutely shocking. Simon really is so out of touch, but I guess they'll be trying to capture the same hot mess / 'drama' feel that the regular show had.

My rankings for week 1:

1. Megan McKenna Stunning song and stunning vocals. This was a lot better than her other original song I thought.

2. Max & Harvey

3. Victoria Ekanoye

4. No Love Lost This was such a bop. Wes and Samira are the stars of the group though. I don't think anybody would notice if Zara disappeared either

5. V5 Their harmonies are impressive considering how little time they've been together, and their performance was great again! Hopefully the public can get behind them!

6. Olivia Olson

7. Jonny Labey

8. Jenny Ryan Wasn't as great a performance as I was hoping for. :(

9. Kevin McHale

10. Try Star They're gonna get boring very quickly. They're nice to look at, but that's all there is to them. They're not gonna stick together after this lmao.

11. Ricki Lake Really flat and didn't go anywhere at all. I kept thinking the whole time of Santana's version from Glee and how good that was! This... wasn't it.

12. Martin Bashir

13. Vinnie Jones This was a car crash. All he did was shout as loud as he could for a couple of minutes.

Overall, I think this show is rather rushed, as if Simon knew way ahead this was going to flop (hence no auditions, boot camp, sing off). Olivia going over Martin I still don't understand, and why was Vinnie was included is beyond me, I guess he got the sympathy votes, his performance was crap. The other groups don't do nothing for me. Max & Harvey will probably end up presenting a children's TV show and fall through Ant & Dec route :D

Funny enough I don't really have a favourite act, I think the girl band V5 have got potential the first part was rather naff, and the second part Taki Taki sold it for me. And I thought Johnny was rather good, but again would people get into his music a la Leon Jackson. Kevin McHale, something about him I really like, but he could go out quite easily on a bad week.

I guess the big favourites must be Megan and Victoria, but I can see them just going Week 4 or 5, if double eliminations are going to be the constant thing week in week out.

The question is now, do I want to bother to carry on watching it, or just bang on a movie every Saturday night.

there was an audition process though - the two previous weeks were the auditions + who got through to the lives? they've said all along that this was being treated differently to the other shows, because celebs need a bit more tlc than civilians + most of them don't have the time to commit to all of the first rounds. it's why the set-up of the live show is different etc.

(p.s max + harvey already have their own children's tv show)

I wasn't mad at them not doing the proper format, obviously they selected the smaller pool of contestants straight off so they could hardly do the traditional format with more stages, otherwise they'd have nobody left by the lives  There's nothing wrong with the format or the actual show, the way they're presenting it just feels better to me. There was much less faff, it just seemed to get to the point, and for the most part it's not about sob stories or struggles, it's about people who want to have a go at being musicians and have a genuine talent and passion. Even the ones I don't like so much like Kevin and Jonny, you can tell they want it and are giving it a shot.

But then there's a discord with Martin and Vinnie, neither have any discernible talent yet they're getting hyped up as if they're amazing, particularly the latter. I fully understand that they would have got so much shit for dropping Vinnie after his wife dying but SURELY when they scouting the line-up they would have had to hear them sing or have something to go on and they should have been a bit more selective. It just feels odd, on one hand there's so much right that makes it feel better than it has in a while, but there's a big hole that holds it back.

I will say this though, it's positive that I am into it enough to be as mad as I was at Jenny initially being booted at judges' houses and at Martin staying, I haven't been this invested in X Factor for a while. But I think that's down to me caring more as I love Megan and Jenny already so I have something to be invested in. Obviously for those who don't know many of the celebs or don't care, it's gonna be different.

It was transparent X Factor of old. Heap praise onto the people with stories or who they've paid the most to. The ludicrous decision just showed things haven't changed. Louis and Simon are two of the worst judges in reality tv history.

I did enjoy some performances though.

01. Megan - just gorgeous and leagues ahead of every single other.

02. Jonny - I thoroughly enjoyed, but his vocal is only okay. Great performer though

03. No Love Lost - I was shook! The song was pretty great and they all stepped up bar Eyal. I think Simon was harsh saying it only kicked in halfway as Zara went from non entity last week to quite nailing her vocals I thought and Samira from shaky to pretty solid. They all did well. Only thing I would say is the song needed to breathe, it was rammed down your throat for three minutes straight and never had any light and shade

04. V5 - bit of a weird mash up but they show so much promise

05. Jenny - her voice is marmite and it has places it sits where I don't love it but this was generally very rousing

06. Victoria - technically probably very good and it got better as it went but I do think it was very meandering up until the midpoint, I wasn't even sure of the song, undeniable vocals though,

07. Max & Harvey - not the right song for them but they did bring some cool to it I thought, it wasn't bad.

08. Kevin - better than this audition but honestly most of it was talking, some of the vocals were there though, great last note.

09. Ricki - actually thought at some points she nailed it, the runs at times were good. But it was inconsistent, other times she was flat or over/under the note. I didn't hate it though.

10. Olivia - this is Louis fault, who would pick that song for her. Her vocal was good at times but the production really left her exposed.

11. TryStar - they saw their audition worked and did a three out of ten imitation of it. Levi's vocals were good, Thom's were dire. It was embarrassing and the whole seat thing was ridiculous.

12. Martin - definitely worse than his audition, embarrassingly poor.

13. Vinnie - just a bit of a joke really, it was shouting, yet a standing O. I feel for him obviously but it was dire.

I am so glad that Jenny is back. She should never have been eliminated. She is immensely talented.

No Love Lost were really good.

Megan McKenna's original song was good.

Max & Harvey's rendition of When Will I Be Famous was really good and they breathed fresh life into the song, I don't get why it was criticised.

Ffs, glad I'm missing the show then

'artist of our generation' LMAO WOT.

Will never forget when I called him a potato and got absolutely lynched by his fans, they're all wild Facebook Mums who are out of control.

One of my tweets got posted to a Facebook Fan group of his and they were literally lynching me and calling me all sorts... one of my friends who is a big fan and joined that page, shared it to me :')

Lewis Capaldi does what he does musically so much better, I don't know how he hasn't faded back into obscurity yet :drama:

Screaming at that post though Jonjo, and the one you sent on Facebook that said he was gonna give a legendary performance  How on EARTH of all people does he have those rabid fans?? He's not particularly talented, he isn't a nice person, none of it, I am just baffled.

James Arthur is the guest performer this week :puke2:

Yay, he is one of the most talented winners!

First week performances I'd rank like this -

1. Megan - by a country mile, she is a star in my eyes

2. Victoria - amazing singer should be in the west end

3. Jenny - really strong but still needs a little bit of work

4. Try Star - really good voices and performance but a little cheesy

5. Jonny - good voice and likeable but wasn't fussed on the song

6. Max and Harvey - decent but forgettable

7. Kevin - great voice but I felt he overdid the song

8. V5 - average, could be growers though

9. No Love Lost - crap song and a little flat, Wes is brill though

10. Olivia - unlikeable and oversinging but not the worst

11. Rikki - flat and boring but could've worked on it

12. Martin - bad voice and forgettable

13. Vinnie - he literally shouted every word

I would say only the top 5 are the only ones I'm interested in. Hoping some people do alot better this week as most of it was crap

Song list for tomorrow:

Jenny Ryan: This Is My Life

Jonny Labey: Are You Gonna Be My Girl

Kevin McHale: Dance Monkey

Martin Bashir: Good Thing Going

Max and Harvey: Cool

Megan McKenna: Stronger

No Love Lost: Would I Lie To You

Try Star: Swing Low, Sweet Chariot

V5: Despacito/Mi Gente

Some horrible song choices there.

I'm assuming Megan's is an original again
