October 12, 20195 yr Also Simon looks bloody awful Louis still hasn't learned how to clap either Edited October 12, 20195 yr by ElectroBoy
October 12, 20195 yr The Islanders were terrible - that attempt of an adlib at the end by Samira  oh sis.
October 12, 20195 yr Wes was so much better than the others, he should have gone on alone! Kevin was a huge disappointment, he was never my fave Glee voice but I expected a lot better.
October 12, 20195 yr Jenny was on another planet to anything else tonight, I did not expect that at all, slay!!
October 12, 20195 yr I really enjoyed this and it felt more fresh than before - it’s the X Factor though so you know roughly what you’re going to get but I did enjoy it! For me, TryStar were standouts but Jenny was great too!
October 12, 20195 yr Agreed, I actually really liked tonight! The talent level wasn't insane but it was better than I thought, Jenny was brilliant and Try Star were a real surprise plus I think there's a lot of potential in the Islanders and the guys off Youtube (who I was prepared to hate), but the actual show itself just felt so much fresher. The pacing was much better than it usually is, it didn't feel like they lingered too long on any part. They showed who everyone was but didn't linger on it, no extended sob story VTs, it was more just about the fact they were there to sing which the show is about. I'm under no illusions they'll actually find a star but it's going to be enjoyable to watch for the next few weeks I think. Out of tonight's I'd rank them: 01 Jenny - biased as I love her, but in terms of power and talent, she wiped the floor with everyone else tonight. 02 Try Star - I think if they weren't hot it wouldn't have been as hyped but they were good and seemed quite prepared, they instantly really gelled and had chemistry. I'm wondering how they'll be at say a slower song though, or just anything where they can't use their sex appeal to amp it up, because that performance aspect was a lot of the reason why they were good. 03 Max & Harvey - Surprised at how good I found them, I wasn't going mad over them but their voices were much more appealing than I expected. 04 Islanders - there's huge potential if they can find their harmonies, Zara and Eyal really need to improve a lot though. Wes is an absolute star! Maybe they'll wheel out an X Factor cliche and single him out to take through. 05 Martin - a cute performance, if very X Factor series 1 fodder Over  06 Hayley - I loooove her tone, but she just didn't quite get there tonight so I don't think she'll have a chance :( 07 Kevin - a really weak performance imo, he was quite quiet throughout it and it left not a lot of an impression on me. 08 Cole And Edwards - terrible, and Jeremy seems so so up himself, he came across awfully!
October 13, 20195 yr I had wanted this to be so much better than it is. That said, once the line up was revealed i sensed it would be a let down and it is.
October 13, 20195 yr I enjoyed the first episode! An interesting selection of talent so far, some obviously better than others. It definitely felt fresher than a typical X Factor series, purely because it's something different. Martin aside, the typical sob stories weren't there (and even then, Martin's actually felt genuine and not shoehorned in). I agree with what people have said in here - it's still very much X Factor at the core (and I think anyone expecting anything else wasn't being realistic) but it was a risk that for once actually seemed to pay off for the show. My rank: 1. Max & Harvey - I guess it helps that I've known them, and their music, for almost a year  but this is absolutely my style of music and I'd be thrilled for them to gain a bigger platform! 2. Love Islanders - I think there's loads of potential here. Most importantly, all of them can sing to some degree, and the rest of it like harmonies etc can be worked on as I'm sure they're not going anywhere yet. 3. Jenny - I don't think I'd listen to an album of hers but gosh she can SING! I think she could absolutely have a career in musical theatre when she's not doing The Chase. 4. Kevin - solid, a pretty good song choice, but I think we've not seen the best of him yet. 5. Martin - cute and sincere 6. Try Star - borderline annoying to me oops 7. Hayley - not bad, but nothing too standout either and she definitely has some bad habits. 8. Cole and Edwards - obviously. No singing talent there and Jeremy taking it personal was so against the spirit of the show otherwise.
October 13, 20195 yr I can understand why Jeremy was put out, they called it a car crash and said the only reason they'd go through was Brendan's fan base lol. BUT. you'd think twenty years of acting would mean he'd be able to cover that up, appalling response tbh
October 13, 20195 yr That comment was stupid tbf, Simon acting like as many people watched Strictly as they did solely because of Brendan
October 13, 20195 yr I actually really enjoyed it! Jenny was amazing, and I thought Kevin and Martin were very good as well. Pleasantly surprised by Max and Harvey! They seem really likeable as well, which I wasn't expecting :P
October 13, 20195 yr Just finished watching and this was really fun - certainly the most I've enjoyed watching XF for a long time! Obviously the talent level wasn't exactly amazing, but there were a few great surprises in there, namely Jenny! Max and Harvey were fantastic though, easily the best for me  1. Max & Harvey 2. Try Star 3. Jenny 4. Love Islanders 5. Martin 6. Kevin - he was never my favourite in Glee, but I was expecting so much more from him? He just didn't deliver at all, and he kinda butchered NBTS :( 7. Hayley 8. Cole and Edwards
October 14, 20195 yr This was so odd to watch. I was expecting more talent tbh although I feel the best talent could be on next weeks show. The show did need freshening up but after watching this I don’t know if this is the way. It just felt really weird. I mean Strictly and watching celebs dance is fun and light hearted but competing for a record contract on this is just pointless. Like there’ll be virtually zero success for whoever wins this. If it was a charity thing it would’ve worked better or if they weren’t really competing for anything. But a record contract for the winner really. The reason strictly does so well is because you win a glitter ball and there’s an element of taking part and there’s no real serious side to it what makes out it’s some life changing event, making this version of the show like this and we’re it feels they’re competing against each other feels apparent. And then there’s the people who we don’t know for singing tag when some have record deals, albums released and Kevin is literally known more for singing than anything else lol.
