This was so odd to watch.

I was expecting more talent tbh although I feel the best talent could be on next weeks show.

The show did need freshening up but after watching this I don’t know if this is the way. It just felt really weird.

I mean Strictly and watching celebs dance is fun and light hearted but competing for a record contract on this is just pointless. Like there’ll be virtually zero success for whoever wins this. If it was a charity thing it would’ve worked better or if they weren’t really competing for anything. But a record contract for the winner really.

The reason strictly does so well is because you win a glitter ball and there’s an element of taking part and there’s no real serious side to it what makes out it’s some life changing event, making this version of the show like this and we’re it feels they’re competing against each other feels apparent.

And then there’s the people who we don’t know for singing tag when some have record deals, albums released and Kevin is literally known more for singing than anything else lol.

so you’re saying that you didn’t enjoy it because the winner gets a prize?

01 Try Star > Surprisingly decent. Not great, but a better song choice and I think it'd work. <

02 Max & Harvey > Ugh. I hate that I've got them this high, but they were alright. <

03 Jenny > Vocally powerful, but incredibly monotone and meh. <

04 Islanders > There's potential with these. I feel like if they have the correct mentor and work on who works best where, then this could be ok! <

05 Martin > Generic overs performance. <

06 Hayley > Mehhhhh. <

07 Kevin > He really should've been a lot better. But then again, he was never the star in Glee. His voice is flat and boring. <

08 Cole And Edwards > LMAO. W/e <

I liked the show though. I thought the format worked really well. So excited to see Megan next week. I really hope she smashes it coz I saw her live a month or so ago and she was fantastic! Really impressed me vocally actually!

I’m saying it’s being taken too seriously by the judges in giving out a record contract.

But it’s a bit like flogging a dead horse If you get what I mean. You could have the best singer in the world on this winning and they still wouldn’t make them a success. The best they’ll manage is a iTunes top 10 track what charts at number 89 officially due to streaming and everyone will go back to what it is we know them for or disappear altogether.

It should’ve been for charity and nothing else.

Like let’s for example say Jenny wins. Is she really gonna stop being a chaser on what I presume is the UKs most popular quiz show at the moment to become a serious recording artist? There’s more chance of us getting a Louisa album than that happening.

They can’t even get a success story or any material out of the people that do the normal series so how they’ll treat a celebrity who’ll probably not be his main priority will be even worse.

I’ll probably still watch but I think the show itself should’ve just took a few years off rather than trying out things like this what’s just gonna damage the brand even more.

i don’t understand how that affects your enjoyment, though? whether it’s just for charity or they get a recording contract, the process is still the same.

plus, i think the idea is that they get to make an album. so it’ll be the usual syco fodder. it doesn’t mean they’ll quit their day job to become a singer. the format is different for the celebrities so it’s just something on the side. bradley walsh releases albums but still does the chase.

Yeh my issue with it was it should’ve just been done as more a comedy. Everything was just taken so seriously - the islanders talking about a gap in the market - I mean p!ss off.

The show could’ve been good, but just done correctly. As Jordan says flogging a dead horse

X Factor Celebrity suffers huge blow as viewer ratings reach all time low against Strictly

Well, I guess that answers that then!

Cowell has no idea how to change the cheesy format. That's why they repeat the same old gap in market garbage, etc.

I think it’s time to scrap XF and bring back pop idol with Michelle as head judge

Agreed, I imagine it will be that they do a nice little covers album that's released only a few months after the show they might try with a single for the likes of Megan, V5, The Islanders or Max & Harvey, but given the absolute nothing they've done with Dalton and the bare minimum they did with say Rak-Su and Louisa, it doesn't matter whether it's a celebrity or normal series, there isn't going to really be a huge star from the show.

I agree it is a bit stupid for them still to pretend that they are going to find a star but given how awful the past couple of series have been, I'm just glad that the format is a bit fresher and it's more entertaining to watch because of it.

It peaked at 5.1 million viewers and had an average of 4.5 million over the hour and half it was on.

I was expecting it to be way worse with them headlines, X factor hasn't pulled strictly numbers in a good 7 years so wasn't expecting it to be anywhere near that.

Wasn't BGT champions only pulling 3/4 million? I was expecting x factor celebrity to do worse.

the media has to grasp that with each year that passes, the way that people consume television evolves. so many steaming platforms, the catch-up services.. and it means that live/overnight figures don’t mean as much.

the final number is really all that they care about and the consolidated figures are never reported on as they represent a much better number + have less of the shock factor. strictly’s numbers are down year on year but that’s probably because their line-up isn’t as strong but that also adds to those that don’t care too much about watching it live + will catch up later.

x factor is doing fine! there’s nothing to replace it that will pull in those figures so we will be seeing it for a while. the only thing i can think of is the masked singer being a massive hit + they put it on in autumn the year after.

That show is still very successful for them, no chance they'll axe that anytime soon, or I'm a Celeb

I'm a celeb gets like more than double XF's viewing figures - so is unlikely to be axed. Even last year with Ant gone and Holly there, the ranking went up rather than dropped.

IAC, BGT and SCD and really the 3 juggernauts of RTV, especially given IAC/ SCD have been going for nearly 20 years (now I feel old)

Just out of curiosity, what was it that you were expecting? The X Factor, to put it plainly is people battling it out for a recording contract and that was made clear that it wasn’t going to change for the celebrity version.

In terms of the shows tag they had said the stars aren’t primarily known for their singing - this is a reach as some obviously have a level of singing background (although not mainly known for it i wouldn’t say) but i thought it was better sacrificing that for a good show of mainly competent singers instead of the comedy element.

I get people are fed up of X Factor but I think they freshened it up where they could.

I was expecting the format to pretty much be the same although I think it would’ve been more credible had it been for charity or something like that.

But I expected I’d find at least one performance to be good but for my ears and my tastes none of them were great. Had it been a regular season with those auditions I don’t think many would’ve gotten through.

Megan McKenna will probably be the best alongside Jonny from EE and Victoria from CS all who are on Saturdays show.

Maybe I’m just falling out of love with the show through which is a shame as it used to be my favourite reality show.

oops

Oh wow, that was a brilliant audition of Feel It Still :o
