March 7, 20197 yr I think I must be one of those rare people that loved the 'Salute' album. It was maturer but it didn't lose their sense of fun. I still say 'Salute' (the single that is) sounds like a hen party in an army tank in the best possible way. 'Competition', 'About The Boy' and 'Nothing Feels Like You' likewise but for different reasons. It struck a good balance. That said, 'Get Weird' is still their best album for me and the one I revisit the most. A return to the feel of that album, if not stylistically, wouldn't be unwelcome. I do feel though like they'll be announcing a break or hiatus of some description when they do their tour at the end of the year.
March 7, 20197 yr Yes, following the trend doesn't work. There is an opening for solid music and they were covering that market fantastically. It was not a wise decision to move away from that sound so radically. It really does reek of the Spice Girls Forever all over again.
March 7, 20197 yr I still consider Salute their strongest album and don’t see where people are getting ‘over sexualised’ from - I found that all started developing much more from Get Weird onwards. Salute like LM5 was just lacking in killer hook singles (though Move is in my top 3 LM singles). Think About Us has just had a messy campaign that came far too late after Woman Like Me. I wouldn’t rule too 20 out still as it is still building on Spotify, but that is as good as it will get. I am looking forward to seeing where Firestarter ends up. It’s ambitious but would love to see it scrape top 40.
March 7, 20197 yr Salute is my favourite album of theirs still, followed by Glory Days I’m going to be GUTTED if TAU becomes their first non top 20 single :(
March 7, 20197 yr LM5 is not as much of a disaster as people here are making out. It's a step down from Glory Days for sure, and I expected it to be holding up better, but Woman Like Me was a very big hit. As has been said already, the album's one of their more consistent efforts so far but it does seem to lack big standout hit moments. Nevertheless, it's not a flop and I don't think there's any cause for concern.

They have paid for a video, a rapper to add to the song and all other expenses that come with promoting a new single and the album is going in the wrong direction. Nearly a 3rd of the albums total sales came in its first week and a lot of those purchases will have happened from the goodwill people felt about the last era. If they arent careful all that goodwill will be gone for good.
March 7, 20197 yr They also just won best song for WLM and best group not sure if it will have any effect as they arnt on tv
