August 4, 20195 yr The best thing about this album, other than the album itself, is it should free her from her ridiculous label expectations. She can clearly create music at an impressive rate, so hopefully, there should be less of a fight against them and quicker turnarounds on full projects.
August 9, 20195 yr She's releasing another new song in a couple of weeks 😭 View this post on Instagram "hi i’m v happy coz i’m gonna drop another song from my album in the next couple of weeks.... can u guess which one tho???? minor clue: there’s a feature (lol)."

August 12, 20195 yr Get a job stay away from her She came to them  When asked "Favorite The 1975 song?" on her Instagram Q&A "I like DEEPLY love the 1975. My fav song is I Like America & America Likes me. Like I wish I was singing that song. It feels kinda pop 2ish to me. I really wanted them to be a part of the new album. I went to visit them whilst they were in LA working on part of their record. We spoke about songs and pop music and it was gonna happen for a minute but then it didn’t (schedules / touring - reasons like that, nothing bad). I would love to make music with them. Matty has great pop sensibility. He’s very smart. I reference them in a song called Warm on the new album. If they’d been a part of the album I would have wanted them to be involved in this song with haim and I."
September 4, 20195 yr Author @1169265869035360256 Charli talking about her nerves releasing the album and touring, and about supporting the other females around right now. She's such a doll!

September 9, 20195 yr She's just shot ANOTHER video for one of the songs from this album! Charli's work ethic is just incredible
September 9, 20195 yr Author ^ amazing! She cares so much about this album it's unreal. We stan a passionate artist <3
September 12, 20195 yr I've just had a listen to this and it's...an experience. It's very out there and '1999' is easily the most poppy song and feels a bit out of place, so those who don't like the weird futuristic glitchy sound from pop 2 heard on 2099 for example might struggle but I ... think I'm here for it? I need more time for sure. I love the opening track instantly. It doesn't take a lot to shock me with Charli but 'Shake It' is a full on wtf moment....I...
September 12, 20195 yr Had an email to say my vinyl has been dispatched. Can’t wait. I feel like I’ll love it after reading what Joe’s said about it. I was hoping it’d be more 2099 than 1999 or Blame It On Your Love, so that’s great. That’s the Charli I’m here for.

Pop 2 has a different vibe and intent to 2099 though, no? Pop 2 is pop turned up to the MAX with all guns blazing, 2099 is pop distorted but minimalised. 2099 I assume would work brilliantly as an album closer - removing all life and soul from pop music and looking to the future where sounds blend together and distort with vocals taking a back seat. I am so intrigued by how the album will work as a complete project.
September 12, 20195 yr Hmm, it was just an example as others here already mentioned it reminded them of that, as pop 2 has its 'quieter' (for Charli) moments too. Not so much the melody but it's similar in a way that it has distorted all over the place production and is very odd structurally- there's a lot of that on here! 'Click''s outro is bonkers can't wait for you to hear.
September 13, 20195 yr Take away Blame It On Your Love and 1999 and this is exactly the album I wanted from her. They don’t fit in with the rest (especially BIOYL coming after Thoughts...) Glad it ended up being so much better than the singles suggested. I can see why she released those though. From the first two singles I thought it’d seem watered down compared to the mixtapes but it doesn’t at all, great she could experiment on this as well. Can’t wait to see her do lots of these at Brixton, really interested to see who she brings out.
