I'm the complete opposite - I like it more and more every time I listen to it. I did also listen to Stitches after this once and to say his voice has improved in the last few years would be an understatement.

This is really, really similar to 'There's Nothing Holding Me Back' (but a lesser version obvs).

It kind of sounds like he's saying a naughty word in the chorus. :kink:

This is pretty much a total retread of 'There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back' but I'm here for it tbh! It's cute xx
So Shawn's said in an interview on SNL that when he was writing the song it was originally going to be sent to Dua Lipa, but in the end he decided to keep it. Interesting :o Wonder how different it would've been.
There's Nothing Holdin' Be Back Pt II this. Sounds he is saying when he saying the f-word when he sangs the chorus for some reason e.g 'Everything is nothing if I can't have you'.

Beating his previous best debut by 20 places! King!

This song is going to be huge isn't it?

crazy this is straight in at 2 in the us, so if it wasn't for lil was x it would be 1

a rather mediocre song imho he's done so so much better

Apparently it was set for a #5 debut without the physicals, that still would have been impressive!
Was listening to Capital on the way home today and the presenter compared this to Million Dollar Bill and now I can't unhear it

Yes, Calum.

I do think there are some similarites to this and 'Million Dollar Bill'

What do other people think?

I'm probably in the very small minority who thought of the 'Million Dollar Bill' similarities.

Surprised it's still hanging around that high up the chart there :o

So good to see it’s back in the top 100 :cheer:

I’m getting so impatient waiting for these physicals to get shipped out now lmao, hurry up Shawn!!

  • 5 weeks later...

The physicals (CDs/cassettes/vinyl) that his US store put up for pre-order in the first week of May (with a supposed 12 week wait until dispatch) still haven't dispatched yet, and it's been 17 weeks now. :(

Fans have been asking what's going on for the past month or so, but the Universal page just sends similar generic responses to everyone. I received this a couple of days ago:

Hi Jay,

There has, unfortunately, been a delay in the manufacturing of the "If I Can’t Have You” CDs and vinyl. We apologize for the inconvenience and will be updating all customers as soon as possible! Please keep an eye out for an email with more information on when to expect your order soon.

In the meantime, feel free to contact us with any further questions or concerns.

Thank you for your patience and support,

Fans are becoming impatient/angry and even wondering whether this is a scam. I doubt it's a scam considering it's Universal, but I certainly think this is incredibly poor form from his store (and honestly, from Shawn's management/label for not chasing this up). As of yet no one associated with these physicals has sent out a message to explain what's happening. If I didn't search on Twitter for what other fans are saying, and I hadn't emailed Universal myself, then I'd still be none the wiser.

I don't really understand how these formats still haven't been manufactured 4 months after being put up for pre-order (and then of course there's an unknown period of time before that when his team would have decided to release physicals / design them etc). What could the hold up possibly be? I find it suspicious. An official store shouldn't be this sloppy.

They were certainly quick to take people's money (I ordered on 3rd May, the money left my account on 7th May).

What is really annoying me (and other fans) is that his social media pages are promoting pre-orders of Senorita formats, while not acknowledging what's going on with If I Can't Have You. There's only 3 weeks to go until the CD/Vinyl formats of Senorita are supposed to be dispatched, but I won't hold my breath...

All in all it's completely put me off ever ordering anything from Universal stores again. I'm surprised Universal would want this sort of reputation and seemingly be rather blase about it all. I feel like it's morally corrupt to take people's money for a product and then to still not have produced it a month after the originally promised dispatch date, and have no concrete information about why the delay has occurred or exactly when they'll be manufactured/dispatched.
