You can’t deny that Never Really Over was the first single because it was A) a single and B) on the album? What’s not clicking

Katy can say Daisies is single 1 all she wants, but she's wrong... :lol:

I think it's an attempt to make it seem like the era was getting a fresh start by calling it the first single ~ almost restarting the era to build up public interest again. I can't see how this could be demoted to a promo single, just because of that one tweet by her?

 

She announced 'Smile' as a single too just before it dropped, and it clearly is because of the radio push, but many are saying it's a promo one (because of its underperformance?), so who knows what is what with her songs right now :lol: It's turned into a very messy era which is so unlike her when you look back on the days of Teenage Dream and even Prism when everything was handled expertly. I just hope the rest of the album follows the quality of this SUBLIME song.

It was because of the messiness this era that made Smile's single status questionable but it became undeniable when Radio 2 playlisted it! It's been a messy campaign for sure, but I think it's pretty clear at this point that the singles are Never Really Over -> Small Talk (now we know this is still part of the album in some capacity) -> Daisies -> Smile.

The only shameful thing here is you denying that Daisies is the first single (when Katy literally said Daisies is the first single) just because she included NRO (released more than a year ago) on the album to inflate streams, because if it depended on Daisies and Smile for that, the fate of this album would be even worse.

 

Stop living in a bubble and face reality. It's ridiculous to try to affirm at all costs something that isn't true. Embarrassing.

 

I would agree if she had just thrown the song on at the end of the album as a bonus track — but it's track one. It's the first single. Everyone — but you — knows it's the first single. Why does it even matter?

 

The irony is that I'm actually a Gaga fan — but this delusion and strange obsession with tearing Katy Perry down is too hard to ignore.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This is probably my favourite single of hers... But I question placing it as track #1 on the album...

 

Also Never Really Over performed well on streaming and well she’s going to need it for the album to go at least Gold in the US.

I listened to this for the first time in a while earlier and GOD it still sounds SO good :cheeseblock: I miss this Katy.

It was only a year ago, she can't be that far gone!

It almost feels like a fluke compared to everything that's since followed it.

I think this is gonna stand out on the album like I really think the rest of the album will be more like Daisies / Smile the song than this.
