May 20, 20196 yr I don't really care what notes are in it as long as it doesn't include that ear piercing note Kate Miller-Heidke insisted on using x What even is this heresy?
May 20, 20196 yr Slovenia was definitely in my top 10 even if it wasn't my favourite! Didn't think I'd like it at all before the show but that performance was so mesmerising. I think we might see more of that in future years if current musical trends keep up, it reminds me a lot of some types of modern pop.

I'm sorry but If you think an emotionless performance, sung by a sleepwalker with extraterrestrial eyes means modern pop, I think I prefer old pop performed with passion and energy . That song just makes me want to sleep and don't deserves a score higher than 0 imo. Edited May 20, 20196 yr by Jason
May 20, 20196 yr I found Slovenia flat and just went nowhere, usually songs like that build to a big finish.
May 20, 20196 yr I'm for the argument of songs needing emotion and passion more often than not! And if you think that performance was emotionless you clearly weren't watching properly. It's also largely modern in its structure that matches some chart trends that weren't popular 10 years ago but are very much now, an excessive minor key sound (which, by the way, the clear majority of songs in this final were in), downtempo, intense in its backing beat but minimal on the vocals in a way that holds your attention and if you're in the right mindset, is great to relax to even if you aren't focusing on how meaningful it is for the two performers and the atmosphere that quiet wall of sound is generating around them. basically, subtlety is VERY much a quality worth exploring.
May 20, 20196 yr Loved the contest. More and more the Eurovision songs are sounding like songs that wouldn't sound out of place on the radio and that's a positive thing imo. It was needed it sounded a bit more modern. My favorites were Albania (contradictory to what I just said lol) and Slovenia. Other favorites were Italy, The Netherlands, San Marino (it was catchy and funny as hell), Azerbaijan, and Russia (yes). Norway and Switzerland were also pretty catchy. Australia was my least favorite by sooo incredibly far. I'm so glad they underperformed in the end. The lack of neighboring countries will continue to hurt them in the next contests. And I'm so happy ''we'' won  . Finally, after 44 years. And so deserved too. Definitely gonna try to be there next year with my boyfriend.

I was close to tears at the performance. I do think she could have held the melody closer to the studio version, though.
May 20, 20196 yr I feel like the 'awkwardness' of Slovenia's performance actually contributed to me enjoying it so much tbh. It felt like a very 'introverted' song for want of a better word and the performance came across like Zala was too shy to sing the song to an audience of millions but totally comfortable singing it to just one person. I thought it was kind of cute. Idk. Performance aside though I just thought it was a really lovely song, it reminded me a lot of LUNA (the Ukrainian singer of 'Butylochka'/'Dumala' in BJSC fame), and as ever I'm always attracted towards the countries bold enough to stick with sending songs in their native language (and this song was much more to my taste than 'Hvala, Ne!' last year although iirc I rather liked that one too).
May 20, 20196 yr Don't comment here much loool but Slovenia was my favourite! It sounds like it could be seen as emotionless but idk what I'm smoking (nothing x) but I was emotionally more moved by that song / performance than all the others. I liked the whole set-up where it seemed like we were being given glimpses into this couple's personal emotional world lmao. And the song is the kind I'd listen to when sitting around my house. People are moved by different things I guess, that's cool. I did like the winner too, and several others.
May 20, 20196 yr ik I'm very late and don't post in here really but I did my own personal votes this year as I caught up tonight :kink: 12 Norway 10 France 08 Greece 07 Serbia 06 Cyprus 05 Belarus 04 Sweden 03 Malta 02 Switzerland 01 Azerbaijan 00 Slovenia 00 Albania 00 The Netherlands so yea at least the winner was in my rank SOMEWHERE :')
May 20, 20196 yr Good to see it doing well, its the most chart friendly winner in my opinion from the last couple of years.
May 22, 20196 yr The Belarus jury votes have been excluded so the UK have lost 5 points  Notably, Sweden replaces Norway in the top 5.
May 22, 20196 yr That five from Belarus did look a bit generous  Wow...great for Sweden but that's even more of an injustice for Norway, the viewing public's favourite entry. At least we now know that a televote winner can be kept out of the top five by the personal taste of 200-odd individuals, some of whom are voting in a completely corrupt manner! Very fair. Will the bookies now have to pay out to anyone that had Sweden pegged for a top five finish?
May 22, 20196 yr Does that make North Macedonia the jury winner? Edit: NVM I thoughr Belarus voted for Sweden but that wasnt the case Edit2: ESCExtra os claiming this though? Edit3: It's true, they changed the votes, not dismiss like I thought North Macedonia (247 points) Sweden (241 points) The Netherlands (237 points) Italy (220 points) Azerbaijan (202 points) Australia (153 points) Switzerland (152 points) Czech Republic (150 points) Russia (126 points) Malta (87 points) Cyprus (77 points) Denmark (69 points) France (67 points) Greece (50 points) Iceland (46 points) Slovenia (46 points) Albania (43 points) Norway (40 points) Serbia (35 points) Estonia (28 points) Germany (24 points) Belarus (18 points) San Marino (12 points) United Kingdom (8 points) Spain (1 point) Israel (0 points)
May 22, 20196 yr A mess. How did no one notice this? It was super obvious even just as a casual viewer that Belarus' 'jury votes' were seriously weird and dodgy. So it turns out the winner of the jury vote was denied their moment as well! Looking on Wikipedia after this apparently there was also an issue with one of the Czech jurors voting in reverse in the semi-final which meant Poland should have qualified over Belarus. Not Eurovision having a BJSC esque scandal xx
May 22, 20196 yr The votes are made up EITHER WAY so I’d rather they hadn’t done this. Not only is the public winner pushed down a place but Belarus, the country at fault, actually benefit by moving ahead of Germany! And it’s not exactly consistent if the jurors who ranked upside down aren’t being corrected too. The DVD and clips on YouTube will forever show Sweden as the jury winner, Norway in 5th and the crowd going wild when Israel score a 12, it’s a bit too late in the day...
