Wycombe Wanderers boss Gareth Ainsworth - the longest-serving manager in the English Football League - has signed a new "long-term" contract with the club.

 

The former Chairboys and QPR player, 46, has been in charge of the League One side since September 2012.

Fleetwood Town boss Joey Barton has been given a two-game touchline ban after being found guilty of using abusive language towards an official.

A winding-up petition brought by HM Revenue & Customs against League One club Southend United has been adjourned until 29 April.

 

The club appeared at the Insolvency and Companies Court in London on Wednesday over an unpaid tax bill.

Accrington Stanley are consulting with lawyers and accountants to separate the club from the stadium as a financial security measure for both entities, says chairman Andy Holt.

 

Stanley have informed the English Football League and Hyndburn Borough Council about the proposal.

 

Holt hopes the move would protect the long-term future of the club, during and beyond the coronavirus lockdown.

 

The club acquired ownership of the stadium in December 2018.

Bolton Wanderers have confirmed that they will not be offering new contracts to manager Keith Hill and assistant David Flitcroft when their current deals expire at the end of the month.

It really doesn't feel a minute since Bolton were in the Premier League!

Bolton Wanderers have named Barrow boss Ian Evatt as their new head coach.

 

The 38-year-old, who guided the Cumbrian side to League Two as National League champions, has signed a deal until the end of the 2022-23 campaign.

 

He will face his old side next season after Bolton went down from League One.

Wycombe Wanderers comfortably beat nine-man Fleetwood Town in an extraordinary League One play-off semi-final which produced three goals in the first six minutes it finished 4-1.

That was one of my favourite games post lockdown - Paddy Madden came on as a sub and lasted 18 minutes before getting his second yellow card, one for diving and one for dissent.

 

There was a lot of bite to the game and the second leg should be brillant.

The second legs ended with a 1-1 draw between Oxford and Pompey with Oxford winning on penalties. Wycombe and Fleetwood played out a 2-2 draw meaning Wycombe won 6-3 on aeg so the League One playoff final will be a fascinating game between Wycombe Wanderers and Oxford United so there is gauranteed to be a 'smaller' club in the second tier next season with Wycombe never being at that level before and Oxford not being there since the 1990s? (At a guess)!

Wycombe now just 45 minutes away from being in the second tier for the first time in their history.
