June 9, 20196 yr It happens a lot less now though because of OAOS, a lot of the examples above are by songs that reached the top because of held back releases which jumped in at the top. Although of course there's loads of tracks that were held back and just were unlucky at time of release!

June 9, 20196 yr In 1996, Robert Miles 'Children' did more than both 'Don't Look Back In Anger' by Oasis and 'How Deep Is Your Love' by Take That. Oasis may well have caught up since. Also in 2000, Baha Men stalled at 2 twice, behind both Steps and estlife, but ended up as the 4th best seller of the year!
