KISS proving their freshness once again.

I have only included the most recent songs that KISS have playlisted from 2025 onwards. They have also started playing older songs such as "HOT TO GO!" by Chappell Roan and "As It Was" by Harry Styles.

I miss "The Beat of the UK" era.

I really don't understand what Kiss is trying to achieve here? Bauer have got Hits and heat for the pop, it's very strange.

In my view Kiss should have been rolled out by Bauer instead of Hits Radio.

Kiss is more well known as a national brand, slicker and had bigger potential to wipe the floor with Capital. It wasn’t long ago they were in London but then went more specialist in their output and had their FM’s given to expand Hits Radio brand and the TV channel closed.

As a result Kiss are now struggling so I guess they’re trying to regain some ground by trying to attract a more mainstream audience, though saying that the Kisstory side is still recording massive ratings.

It's not the first time they have gone mainstream.

I remember listening to KISS back in the early/mid 2000s and they were playing mostly pop during the day.

I did not know that, so it isn't so much of a surprise after all! I peeped the first few minutes of that show above and Alesha Dixon is right there name-dropping the station in their own version of Scandalous, incredible *.* Girls Aloud's No Good Advice was straight after! The presenter is awful though, some of the links are disgusting especially where she's saying Britney is fat (some of the 00s media trends can stay well in the past ew).

Kiss took over my local station Vibe FM in 2006 and it then became a staple of my journeys to and from school from 2007 onward; at the time they weren't really playing anything like that and if it was a pop song it often came in remixed form. I guess it's normal for a station to try and mix up its music policy to retain/attract audiences but it feels so far removed from where they should be going especially given the saturation in the "hits" category that they had something unique in playing just dance, R&B and hip hop that was working for them. As gavindeejay says above Kisstory is still huge for them and rarely plays pop music if at all so the market is definitely there.

That new KISS playlist is surprising. I haven't listened in years, but they would've never have played stuff like Alex Warren or Benson Boone unless they were remixes.

I think they're probably going to change from a rhythmic station into a pop station. Stations usually try to transition gradually when they did that.

Also, surely Girls Aloud and Kylie are fine for a station like KISS anyway? At least the ones of their songs are basically Dance songs. Just tell the audience it's "David Guetta ft. Girls Aloud" or "Calvin Harris ft. Kylie Minogue" and they wouldn't mind lol.

the playlist was more of an urban station rather than rhythmic… they were always just as heavy on dance as they were hip-hop. We always had the occasional pop hits but never songs like ordinary or fu & uf. so you might be right.

about kylie and girls aloud tho… not even capital playlists them… unless its xmas.
