Belgian club Lokeren face going out of business after failing to find an investor to help them avoid the threat of bankruptcy.

The second-tier club have debts estimated at 5m euros (£4.4m), according to Belgian media, with players owed wages and debts to suppliers also outstanding.

The German football league have said that the Bundesliga is ready to return on the 9th of May. DFL chief executive Christian Seifert said "if we start on 9 May, we are ready. If it is later, we will be ready again"

So it looks like the German league will be the first major European league to resume play.

Ligue 1 & 2 in France have been cancelled as the ban on sport in France has been extended to September just like what has happened in Holland. I think we can safely say that PSG would have won Ligue 1 anyway just like they always do.

Germany's Bundesliga will have to wait another week to find out about a possible restart date as the government has delayed a decision over resumption.
The Bundesliga WILL return this month after Angela Merkel gave the go ahead for the competition to resume.
I wouldn't normally watch German football but I'm looking forward to watching some matches now. I see Borussia Monchengladbach have put 4500 cardboard cutouts in the club colours in their stadium and are continuing to add more.

Edited by King Rollo

I am putting my order in for one of the cut outs tonight!!

Non-Gladbach fans can apply to be part of their away stand if anyone else wants to take part. It’s 19,90€ with the proceeds going to charities.

Dynamo Dresden, who play in the second tier of German football, have put their entire squad and coaching staff into two-week isolation after two players tested positive for coronavirus.

A player testing positive for coronavirus will not be a "catastrophe" for the Bundesliga, says Borussia Dortmund's managing director.

Germany's top flight will become the first major football league in Europe to return to competition this weekend.

"We are relieved football is coming back," Carsten Cramer told BBC Sport.

"The moment they say 'Dortmund, you have too many positive tests' we have to make a decision. Right now we have always had negative tests."

I'm going to watch Union Berlin Vs Bayern Munich today and Werder Bremen Vs Bayer Leverkusen tomorrow. Lockdown still doesn't stop Erling Braut Haaland from scoring as he added another goal to his tally in a 4-0 win for Borussia Dortmund against Schalke.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has called on French authorities to reconsider their decision to end the football season early.

On 28 April, it was announced the Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 seasons would not resume because of the coronavirus pandemic.

In a letter to France's prime minister and sports minister, Aulas said French football would face an "unprecedented economic and social crisis".

Lyon were seventh when the season was ended, so miss European qualification.

Bayern Munich head coach Hansi Flick says Tuesday's top-of-the-table game against second-placed Borussia Dortmund is not a Bundesliga title decider.

A win for leaders Bayern at the Allianz Arena would move them seven points clear of Dortmund with six games left.

But Flick said: "Regardless of the result, nothing will be decided."

After two rounds of matches in Germany, there have been 3 home wins and 10 away wins so it would appear that there is no advantage in playing at home when there is no crowd in the stadium. The English teams complaining about neutral venues should bear that in mind.

I'll watch this Dortmund v Bayern game this evening. I'm hoping for a Dortmund win to close the gap at the top of the table to one point.
