August 4, 20195 yr Author I read this interview in which Justin explain he believes in community music in artists meeting and collaborating he's organised this People festival in Berlin a couple times which is like that and he explains thats why he doesn't release hi stuff as Justin he basically says he doesn't wanna tour solo :D Edited August 4, 20195 yr by Bjork
August 8, 20195 yr So... this album is essentially actually out today because they're dripfeeding the rest of the album as individual 'singles' (5 more tracks dropped already and they're coming out on the hour so a few more to come). A bit of a weird strategy but what suits them...! They did skip uploading the 30 second opening track so I guess that'll be the only part of the album that's actually new come 30th August  Not sure how much of these album tracks I'll bother listening to ('Hey, Ma' is the only one of the previous 4 singles I really loved) but I've seen that 'iMi' was cowritten by James Blake so I'll probably at least check that one out.
August 8, 20195 yr That’s an interesting strategy, can’t wait to hear more! "Hey, Ma" is challenging "Late Night Feelings" for my song of the year so far.
August 8, 20195 yr Author listening now like all his albums, it sure will take lots of listens to digest and assimilate the songs very good NME review out already: https://www.nme.com/reviews/album/bon-iver-...OcyuVs9z43FBHAE Edited August 8, 20195 yr by Bjork
August 8, 20195 yr Author now there's 11 songs, not sure if thats all whats pretty silly its cos of the spotify/occ Thursday problemo, those streams will be lost and end up in limbo
August 8, 20195 yr whats pretty silly its cos of the spotify/occ Thursday problemo, those streams will be lost and end up in limbo Do you think that matters to an artist like Bon Iver?
August 8, 20195 yr I'm sure if his label cared, they wouldn't have released it like this. Artists make so little money from album sales, it's all from touring and merch.
August 8, 20195 yr I don't know, do you? Can't read his mind, sure his label cares It might be time to centre yourself with some calming flute playing, Björk. I'm sure if his label cared, they wouldn't have released it like this. Artists make so little money from album sales, it's all from touring and merch. Bingo.
August 8, 20195 yr Author then let's stop following the charts what I meant is that cos the occ never including Thu streams, these streams are lost and the album won't chart tomorrow, when it could have
August 8, 20195 yr The album has washed over me on both listens so far, not necessarily a bad thing I guess, was pretty good for chilling/packing for Ibiza. Felt the same about "22, A Million" and that grew massively and suddenly. "29 #Strafford APTS" and "8 (Circle)" I listen to regularly again lately. "Hey, Ma" is certainly the BIG standout, I absolutely love it.
August 8, 20195 yr The whole album has just been properly released on Spotify so I guess it was just brought forward a couple of weeks. I presume the physical release will still be on the 30th.
August 9, 20195 yr Author I see it's on iTunes too but not sure if the physical CD & vinyl is out too, will have to check later
August 9, 20195 yr Listened yesterday but it didn't grab me much, I wasn't really paying attention though. Going through it again just now and a few more are standing out - liking Holyfields,, Hey, Ma, Faith, Salem and in particular Naeem.
August 9, 20195 yr Salem & We are definitely in the first highlight wave for me. But I was so happy and pleasantly surprised this came out today instead of 3 weeks later.
August 11, 20195 yr Author Great review Couldnt agree more https://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/bon-iver-ii/
August 15, 20195 yr Oh 'Naeem' is actually really great  why wasn't this one of the earlier singles? 'iMi' is v good as well. Although a bit strange.
