Think they’re really going abit mad with the spinoffs. I get the feeling some won’t sell well or get lost in the Christmas rush.

They always go overboard with the spin-offs when it’s near Christmas

Warning: Spoliers ahead.

Over on the other side of the pond, they've just announced the details for the upcoming NOW That's What I Call Music! Vol. 72, which will be out on Friday, 25 October 2019, just about two weeks away. The front cover art is also quite "golden", just like its UK counterpart, NOW 104.

The track list has also been released, but they've devised a clever way to release it: you have to unlock it through one of their Tweets. If you are not bothered to do that, I did it for you, and here it is (hope I don't get consequences for this lol):

01. Shawn Mendes & Camila Cabello - "Señorita"

02. Ariana Grande & Social House - "Boyfriend"

03. Taylor Swift - "You Need to Calm Down"

04. Jonas Brothers - "Only Human"

05. Post Malone feat. Young Thug - "Goodbyes"

06. Lil Tecca - "Ransom"

07. DaBaby - "Suge"

08. Lil Nas X - "Panini"

09. Khalid feat. John Mayer - "Outta My Head"

10. Sam Smith - "How Do You Sleep?"

11. Normani - "Motivation"

12. MAX & Quinn XCII - "Love Me Less"

13. Panic! at the Disco - "Hey Look Ma, I Made It"

14. Ellie Goulding & Juice WRLD - "Hate Me"

15. Zara Larsson - "All the Time"

16. Marshmello & Kane Brown - "One Thing Right"

NOW What's Next Bonus Tracks

17. Emma Charles - "Vertigo"

18. Lolo Zouaï - "Caffeine"

19. Frawley - "Easy"

20. John Lihndal - "All Day"

21. Polo G & Tjayi - "Pop Out"

So, it's still 21 songs. -_-

Already knew that "Señorita" could make it after Shawn's previous hit "If I Can't Have You" appeared in the previous album. Also, it is the only song in here by far that appeared on a previous UK NOW album - in this case, NOW 103. That being said, I am eyeing several, if not most, of the main tracks to appear on the upcoming NOW 104 as well.

Good to have Ari's "Boyfriend" in it, as it is still quite fresh amid the fresher release, "Don't Call Me Angel" (w/ Billie Eilish & Lana Del Rey) from the soundtrack of the upcoming Charlie's Angels film.

Oh, and the ever-so elusive T-Swift is back with her sophomore single from her latest album in here - very nice of that! Sad they skipped over "ME!" (feat. P!ATD's Brendon Urie), which was Lover's lead single, in the same manner as skipping reputation's lead single "Look What You Made Me Do", in the US (and even UK) NOWs, getting its follow-up single, "...Ready for It?", instead.

I personally prefer "Only Human" to "Cool" from the JoBros, so nice inclusion, too.

Not particularly liking Post Malone's "Goodbyes", but an okay inclusion nonetheless. Same goes with the only, and perhaps compulsory, (pseudo-)country track, "One Thing Right". I've observed that the album's quite urban-heavy, too.

I also have a particular liking for Sam Smith's "How Do You Sleep?" as well as the debut single from Fifth Harmony's Normani (finally, after lots of featured appearances), though I haven't really heard of "Motivation" in full yet - I just heard it partially in a fan-made mashup with Kelly Rowland's song of the same name from 2011, after Normani's song reminded me of Kelly's.

Surprised to see P!ATD's "Hey Look Ma, I Made It" in here, considering that it's a year old now, from their 2018 album Pray for the Wicked. Glad they made it (no pun intended) in what I believe is their first-ever appearance in a numbered US NOW album, which is in my opinion a long time coming after a remarkably long career over the past decade or so. It's sad, though, that they skipped on "High Hopes" (which I loooove so much), where its appearance in UK's NOW 101 (2018) is also their first UK NOW appearance.

The rest, well, I am yet to hear them. Yet again, I do not know more than half of the songs here, including all of this album's What's Next lineup.

What do y'all think? ^_^

At least the Americans aren’t anti-urban with their NOWs like the British are starting to be. I just hope they aren’t anti-urban with NOW 104

At least include urban only on the condition that it went top 10 or #1. Other than that, then leave it off. At least they included Stormzy on 103
Just seen the cover for the CD version of NOW 4 on amazon and judging by it, it doesn’t look like any songs have been removed

Am I right in saying it doesn’t have All I Want For Christmas Is You, Fairytale Of New York wnd Last Christmas on it or am I missing them on that track list? Bit strange if they are. I thought they would also have a Cliff Richard song and The Darkness as well. Also I see it has a new Robbie Williams Christmas song from his new Christmas album.

LMAO. Not being able to have the 3 biggest xmas songs of all time on the CD will hinder it a lot. Like, WTAF?! 😂😂

Im literally STUNNED they havent got those 3!

Also Darkness but they seem to always get paid dust ugh.

Looks like the Robbie song is a new track from his new Christmas album but a massive disappointment. If I were in charge I wouldn’t of bothered releasing it and held out to next year to try and get those three tracks. I know that LC has a film coming out and AIWFC is celebrating 25 years which is probably stopping the rights to getting those tracks this year. I don’t know why FONY has been denied the rights?

They must not be able to get the right to those 3 now and that would explain why they have never updated Now Christmas for the past couple of years. In fact I’ve not seen a Christmas compilation released with The Pogues on it for the past couple of years.

I expect it’s more that to release a multi-label 100 track album and keep it to an affordable price, they had to make some sacrifices. Not having any of the big three is very odd indeed though.

Also I guess it will ensure the standard Now Christmas still has a reason to exist, retailing at the same price but with 30-odd fewer tracks.

I think the majority will only really listen to CD 1 of this. I would imagine not many want to listen to Engelbert Humperdinck singing Winter World Of Love or Susan Boyle’s tear jerking version of Auld Lang Syne. So the normal Now Christmas is just fine even if this has 30 extra tracks, they are mostly just filler that no one really wants to listen to.

I still find it very interesting how Driving Home for Christmas became a hit years after release, and seems to still be getting bigger every year.

One of the blandest Christmas songs. Vom. Really don't get the hype.

Did I kiss it as well or was there no Leona?
You missed it. :P I think she's track 6 or something.
I wouldn't buy a 5 CD collection of Christmas songs anyway. Have a Now Christmas 3 CD set with the Cliff songs so all I need really.
