What effort has she put into Small Talk? Maybe I missed it? 👀

She has posted about it several times on social media

There was a sponsored post on Instagram

It was added on all major playlists on Spotify (most likely Apple Music too)

She played the song live on IGTV just yesterday

The song was sent to radio adds

 

All it has NOT had so far is promo appearances and music video.

 

and let's not forget the biggest promo it got - being #1 on the biggest Spotify and AM playlists.

Don't be too quick to write her off just yet. She needs to reinvent herself, in the same way GaGa has done since ArtFlop crashed & burned.

 

For starters, I think she should try her hand at acting.

 

Hmm Katy at acting I don’t know it depends on the role.

 

See with Gaga she’s a better vocalist than what Katy is and a better musician too so ASIB showed a lot of people what he really fans have known for years.

 

With Katy I think she’d do better acting if it wasn’t anything to do with promoting music. Like she would do good in a romantic comedy or a comedy like film but not necessarily a serious like role.

 

There’s hope in Katy rebuilding herself but it would take promotion more than anything.

 

It’s also kind of weird how Gaga and Katy seem to be flavour of the month at opposing times. When the media don’t like Gaga they like Katy and vice versa.

The small talk video looks like it could be a Birthday type mess :(

The 'Birthday' video is a mess but it's a very enjoyable one. Not something you could say about the likes of 'Swish Swish'.

I'm surprised they're even still trying! As much as I like the song, just bury it under the carpet and try again!

Their problem with this was that they released it too soon I reckon. NRO was just beginning to peak everywhere and they didn't really give that chance to simmer down before pushing this, so I think it's gone under the radar a bit. I reckon if you were to ask people if they'd heard Katy Perry's new one they'd assume you meant NRO.

I think more than anything it's obvious this was never destined to catch on regardless.

I hope with a video and a Radio 1 B-listing that it can push for top 40, although at this stage I am quite doubtful.

Imagine not even discounting it when half the songs on iTunes are discounted lol

I actually really like the video! :lol: Nice twist of the lyrics by seeing them from the dog's perspective. It certainly gives a bit more life to the song.

I don't know why I was expecting such a car crash, it's actually quite cute and well made. And tongue in cheek without being too stupid.

Katy’s not powerful enough like Ed or Ariana (just using those as they’ve released quick fire singles in succession this year) at the moment so Small Talks been overshadowed slightly.

I find this song to be a total non-event and a huge disappointment after NRO. A better timed release and more promo wasn't going to save this. On to the next one please.
