The fifth single from The Vamps' debut album Meet The Vamps, their interpretation of Simon & Garfunkel's Cecilia was revamped to include Shawn as a guest vocalist, though he hadn't broken through on a major scale at that point. It reached #9 in the UK, becoming Shawn's first top 10 hit and The Vamps' fifth, and has since earned a silver certification.

What do you make of Oh Cecilia now the Shawn version is approaching 5 years old (!)?

I loved this track from the moment I heard it live during their support slot with Taylor Swift earlier that year! Was so excited for the studio version and the album version was a top 10 hit in my chart as soon as it came out. When Shawn was added, it hit #1, the fifth #1 for The Vamps out of a total of 13 so far, and Shawn's first of 6! I still go back to it regularly and absolutely love it, it's such a crowd pleaser on tour. That said, I don't think Shawn's a completely essential part of the song, it doesn't change much from the original. I still generally pick the single mix to listen to though!
My favourite single by The Vamps, probably helped by the fact that I was familiar with this version before the original! Both the bridge and chorus are infectiously catchy. I agree that Shawn is pretty inessential on the song though, it took me a few listens to even realise which bit was him as he blended in so much
Hmm It's not my favourite single by either artists (Wildheart and treat you better respectively) but 'Oh Cecilia' is nice for what it is. I will say you can barely notice it is Shawn on the track

this was when Shawn was boring

I remember like two weeks before I heard about this collab happening I heard Life Of The Party and hated it, so I thought "how the heck did he get such a high profile collab already?" The song's okay, but it was a small step down from Somebody To You which was sublime.

oddly enough, and this is my opinion, shawn got better, while the vamps peaked after their first two singles and I haven't gotten fully into any of their material since

To be honest I kinda agree with this oops. I wouldn't really say they peaked after two singles, but they definitely peaked earlier than they should've. :( Probably after the Wake Up era for me.

I do like Oh Cecilia but it's definitely my least favourite single from Meet The Vamps, and not a favourite by either artist (although as most have already said, Shawn's not exactly essential on this, but it was great exposure for him at the time!).

It's okay! It was a Top 15 hit in my personal chart. Would be interesting to know what Shawn thinks about it nowadays, if he has particularly strong memories of it / The Vamps.

I don't mind but I *hate* Shawn's voice on it, especially when he first comes in - it truly sounds like nails down a chalkboard, and it was my first introduction to him as well so it's a minor miracle I've become as big of a fan as I have.

Brad Simpson's nip slip at the start of the video is the best part of the whole experience.

tbh Brad's the best thing about all their videos *.* but yes, this in particular
