it did well enough, just outside the top 10 in both UK and US, it's ok but it's not #1 material either...

MOM did well all things considered.

I don't know where Camila will go from here though - especially with the BLM movement and her racist posts...

It felt like they were constantly trying to make it happen more than it did, it was a decent hit but not a HUGE one, similar to Halsey’s You Should Be Sad. Probably the best song from this era behind ‘Shameless’. Underrated album though, not as good as Camila but there’s plenty to use! Although some of the ballads are a bit beige.

I’m pretty sure she’s been a prolific supporter of the BLM movement for years. I just don’t think most people apart from on stan twitter care about cancelling people for disgusting comments when they were 15.

I think they will see how her Cinderella movie does as she is doing the Soundtrack for it.

"First Man" was sent to US radio two days ago and a video, which is dedicated to Camila's father during Father's Day, has been uploaded on YouTube.

Dream of You is my favourite from this!

I think it’s quite strong perhaps more filler like than her debut but still a good effort. I’m a bit gutted how it’s not done as well really wouldn’t have ever advised CC for a December release though :(

I’m confident she can get some success singles wise with what comes next although I feel she could perhaps just not be an album artist.

As far as the racist posts go, Camilas past was exposed years ago wasn’t it.

It will go against her more with the current times but she’s definitely more than apologised.

It's a shame this era is dead in the water now - First Man deserved a lot more. Such a beautiful song.

Don't really expect we'll hear much more of Camila until the next era rolls around though (if she even manages to get to that point) - her tour being cancelled and not postponed with rescheduled dates feels like the label are ready to move on and forget any of this ever happened.

She should focus on getting a feature on some big collabs for the remainder of this year then come back next summer with some tropical bops. Romance is too down-tempo which doesn't suit CC imo. She thrives more on the likes of Havana, OMG, SLC, MOM etc.

Is this era over now?

Seems like so, First Man is stalling completely at 1m views, making no noise and not like she's even trying. Hit another Shawn collab miss Cabello

So I've spent the week listening to both her albums and I'm actually surprised at how good they are. I read a fair amount of criticism about her first album because the amount of ballads but if anything they're much stronger than the uptempos. Her voice sounds fantastic. Romance isn't as interesting but there are a few bops and it deserved more success.

I completely understand that people have a negative opinion on her as a person because of her social media behaviour BUT....I think people change and we shouldn't let our actions as a 15 year old determine who we are for the rest of our life. Yes, she was a racist piece of scum in 2012 - fair enough - but she's quite clearly grown up and is one of the nicer celebrities in the business? I was a big Fifth Harmony stan and used to obsess over all their videos and she was always extremely kind to interviewers, paparazzi, spent ages hugging fans and taking selfies while the other girls raced to their cars and gave so much energy and effort on stage during 2016 even with the fact that a) she was leaving and b) her bandmates hated her. She basically held the group together while Lauren was yawning on stage and half arsing her moves, Ally was being a complete mess, Dinah was out of breath with every line and Normani was lip syncing for her life.

She's an awesome live performer and has released a fair amount of bops. She's supported a ton of charities on social media and is quite clearly not someone who grew up to be a racist adult.

Like, I completely understand why people wouldn't wanna forgive her and she did deserve some consequences (heh) after everything leaked - for example she should have been pulled from the Grammys and been made to give a better apology than a quick Instagram story but I believe she's changed. It's sad to see that she's lost so much support for actions she did as a teenager yet there's more problematic pop stars and rappers who have been just as vile as ADULTS and get support.

I don't think she has lost that much support tbh, the Romance era would've been a sophomore slump (on a lower scale) anyway. Stan twitter doesn't reflect the GP

Tbf she has been to BLM protests and has supported the movement for a long time, I'm not saying that completely exonerates her but I have no interest in cancelling her for comments she made at 15. The sad thing is Ignorance is a massive problem amongst teenagers. I'd honestly say about 50% of WHITE people my age (17) say the n-word regularly (I don't), maybe more. That doesn't justify her at all, it's just surprised me how shocked everyone was by what she posted. Maybe it's a problem that's gotten worse recently idk, I just hear a lot of racist and homophobic jokes in my school. Stormzy made homophobic tweets saying f*ggot and the likes when he was 21, not 15 like Camila. Should he be cancelled? No imo, because he's apologised and clearly isn't like that now.

Edited by Andrew.

shadow I’m glad you posted that. Whenever I defend CC on here it turns into an argument but you were spot on with the points you made :) tbh I think most of the GP don’t even know about the whole tweets when she was 15 it’s more pop culture fans, this forum and twitter who do.

I hope she gets another smash though. She does actually make strong albums and was the only person in 5H who had any form of star quality about her the girls seethed with jealousy towards her. I can only imagine their real reactions when Havana went onto he a global smash they’d have low key been fuming

Normani has tons of star quality!!! Do really enjoy Camila’s music and agreed some people are a little harsh on her
Normani can dance very well I’ll give her that but her voice is forgettable and her solo material hasn’t really excited me much. Her team are useless too though we needed another of the back of Motivation being quite the slow burn success but it just didn’t happen. I think Camila just has something though she always stood out to me. In some ways I think CC should’ve always been a soloist I think the other four are more like group type singers they don’t stand out on their own.
