The song didn't do much for me on first couple of listens, but the video is adorable and helped the song click.

Their singles may have made little to no impact (bar Hello My Love which is a big hit, btw) but I'm still confident that their album should be a pretty comfortable #1 for them, with decent longevity over the Xmas period. In fact, I'd suspect a very similar chart performance to Take That's release last year. The only new-ish releases in their way would be..

Friday 8th November

George Michael & Wham! - Last Christmas (OST) *Could be a slow burner as opposed to outright smash*

Michael Ball and Alfie Boe - Back Together

---

Friday 15th November

Céline Dion – Courage

Westlife – Spectrum

Frozen II (OST) > I assume this will be artist chart? <

I imagine Celine will be the biggest new release threat, but I can see Westlife 100% winning that battle.

---

Friday 22nd November

Coldplay - Everyday Life

Kylie Minogue - Step Back In Time: The Definitive Collection (3CD)

Robbie Williams - The Christmas Present

Rod Stewart with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra – You're In My Heart

I can see Westlife spending a 2nd week top 5. It depends on Rod Stewart and whether Kylie's huge fanbase can secure her a top 5 position with the re-release or not. Coldplay & Robbie will 100% be the top 2 the following week (as well as Lewis Capaldi/Ed Sheeran/Michael Ball & Alfie Boe/Frozen 2 in the mix still too)

Its such a shame Radio 1 won't support them, you just know if Harry Styles released it, they would play it 10 times a day. I would understand if Westlife released the same old stuff but their 3 singles were current.

why would R1 play them? they're not their target anymore by miles and miles and miles

R2 is their perfect place, plus R2 is what helps album sales, not R1

the funny thing is that the best seller single of the year is Capaldi's Someone You Loved, a super ballad

so it's not that ballads are having it hard, but it has to be a great one

lewis capaldi was the viral of the viral this year with all those 'funny' videos and appearances and fights with this oasis guy and all and all and i dont know what extra push he got.... all the youth learned about this guy first and then this song became the hit it is...

THis is totally different, something Westlife cannot match, they have a certain low profile style and that's what we love about them... They were at the top back when thousands of people should go out and pay to buy your CD, instead of just being put on certain playlists on spotify etc etc...

Maybe the fans should just focus on the sales only chart. Westlife tend to chart well there anyway and you get more variety in that chart.

Slumped to #14 on iTunes - pretty poor showing especially as WL fans would be downloaded friendly rather than streamers (Even the CD single releases of the first 2 singles from this campaign had no impact on chart positions due to the numbers sold as reported by MW, they would have charted in the same positions with or without them). Their core fan base has evaporated tbh if they can’t sustain a Top 10 on iTunes in such a low sales climate even without promo the video and social media should be enough to mobilize their fans. Or maybe like Dynamite this is simply not connecting with their fans let alone the GP.

Either way it’s looking like a consecutive release missing the Top 100 - the success of HML is becoming a distant memory so they are not in the strongest place to launch the album and give it longevity.

It's holding up about as expected though? They have little to no airplay and no promo. Older fanbase acts like Westlife always drop off pretty rapidly/by this point, unless they have those two things.

Exactly, no surprise there. Plus, its their 4th single already, there is no buzz for it.

I still think the album will be fine though, even Shane as a solo act had a decent 1st week when he released his solo albums.

Louis mentions again about Westlife being scarce, he meant their gigs this time around:

"They are just going to Cork next year, I think. Two gigs there and then maybe something in Dublin the year after,"

"That is why they are making themselves scarce. They are not going to flog themselves and the album is good."

I don't see the point in re-releasing a single, I am pretty sure they won't do that. I think they simply know streaming is impossible to deal with for an act like them so they aren't bothered about singles success.

One more thing, it's easier to promote a single with more views plays listens clicks that's why I really believe for re-release

Dynamite didn't chart on iTunes Germany but this one peaked at 50. Big one for them already and they are not as "urban" as BSB from the start, lucky they're still charting in those "urban populated" countries and also Australia etc. This reflects the kind of listeners they have and how sales dominant and old their fans are. Since 2002 I noticed fans only support most of their special stuffs like the greatest hits, 10 years, farewell DVD, comeback, lead singles and this special fourth single because they already peaked at 2000 I guess its natural. That's why they said and Simon said pop band's life only lasts for four to five years max compared to rock bands that's why they got lucky to have lasted for 14 Years and now 21 years. Spectrum is a comeback album and was promoted since last year so I am expecting a good one. Promo is focused in the album week I believe

Because they still play Adam and Chris bands and their ages are just the same as Westlife's members? I wonder if they hit the big time across the pond like the Americanized bands will they be forced to play Westlife? Because of a trend. Actually their new songs not being played on radio 1 has affected the perception by the young ones to them. When hml was released I have seen comments on social media questioning r1 why they are not playing Westlife. But of course they will ignore and be ignored. This is the only way to make them back on the map to make across the pond but of course they are focused in the album release first.

It's dropping now on iTunes Sales chart because there's no promo and television appearances like the old days where they were on the single week premiere every single day on different shows possible. People who know them, supports them most of them are older and busier with life and doesn't even know they have a new release and television is just a way to know they do have a release while they are resting watching at home

Actually it did better, Dynamite peaked at 4 then dropped to 13 the second day. My blood peaked at 3 then 7 on the second day and now at 16 on the third day

I really don’t understand the ‘scarce’ strategy - of course it works for acts like Adele but WL have been away for years and years, they are not getting big hits or major radio play so surely they should be taking any promo opportunity they can get? Especially as I said before they are releasing in Q4 so there will be a high demand from all the other artists releasing for the same TV promo slots?

Like I said, I think Louis is talking about the tour here, not TV promo. It looks like they will have just a few gigs, not a big tour.

I would like to know though what Universal has in mind for the album release week, hopefully they will actually do something

Seriously doubt that :( Universal has been acting like they don't forking care.

I don't know what to think, I do hope they are keeping it all for the album. On one hand, I am glad they are letting them to release singles because that would never happen with Syco but on the other hand, they are too quiet about everything else. I still think guys are better off without Simon though, even their album promos weren't anything spectacular with the last few albums and at least Westlife aren't stuck with 1 lead single, and most likely a cover.

Yeah I agree that Simon is no good. He would probably toss Westlife away like disposable tableware as soon as the comeback frenzy cools down.

Don't think that Coldplay fans are not traditional and all of them are working in Silicon Valley. They don't have any promotion either and yet they have two songs in first mids at 21 and

80. Always lame excuses like sore losers: Westlife fans don't know much about streaming, they are traditional and ...

STOP IT.

#52 in the midweek chart information.

Could it be enough to secure a Top 100 placement on Friday?
