006. Rui Da Silva (feat Cassandra) - Touch Me

2001 | 252 points | [48-50-16-06] | 6th in semi 3 with 193 points

Making top 10 for the first time is one hit wonder Rui Da Silva with what is still only the fifth highest trance classic in this chart! I wouldn't rank it near this high myself but still I love it.

005. New Order - Blue Monday

1983/1988 | 254 points | [69-110-20-05] | 4th in semi 4 with 215 points

And here's a surprise, a song as old as 1983 makes it as high as fifth this time around after making a big jump to the top 20. It's certainly a classic anyhow and very influential as one of the first electronic dance tracks to be a big chart hit.

This means we have four songs left, including the current title holder 'Insomnia' but can it reach #1 again?

  • Darude - Sandstorm
  • Faithless - Insomnia
  • Robert Miles - Children
  • Underworld - Born Slippy NUXX

Touch Me is an absolute stunner, muchly deserved position!

Of the final 4 I rank them:

Children

Born Slippy

Insomnia

Sandstorm

Sandstorm has lost its charm on me with all the memes. Insomnia is good but takes too long to get going. Born Slippy I actually used to dislike but really enjoy it now. But Children is in another league, a special song.

Glad to see Blue Monday top five, it really is one of the greatest 80s tracks!

Superb choice of top four to come as well, I included three of them in my vote!

yay for Touch Me being so high

out of the 4 left I prefer Born Slippy followed by Children but all 4 are classics.

I also prefer the Tiesto version of Adagio for Strings... also great to have Massive Attack giving some diversity to the top 10

004. Faithless - Insomnia

1995 | 254 points | [05-11-15-01-04] | 1st in semi 1 with 290 points

Faithless do very well once again but are kicked off #1 this year continuing the feat of every edition of Ultimate Dance having a different #1. Great to see this in the top 5 again anyhow, amazing song.

003. Darude - Sandstorm

2000 | 267 points | [04-10-03-02-03] | 1st in semi 2 with 274 points

Unlucky for Darude as it is his third consecutive top 3 appearance without having won. A very deserved chart run though, really love this song too.

Which means one of these is Buzzjack's Ultimate Dance song, make your final predictions now!

  • Robert Miles - Children
  • Underworld - Born Slippy NUXX

Oh that's the correct top 2 from that 4 :D really didn't expect to see Underworld this high up!

Children for the win then.

correct top 2 then out of those 4

both are 11/10 songs, but might like Born Slippy slightly slightly more

OMG happy with either winning this tbh, Sandstorm is overrated

No

Great top 2. Some odd top 10 picks though (Sandstorm is very average and wtf at Faded!!)

002. Underworld - Born Slippy NUXX

1996 | 300 points | [07-08-13-03-02] | 2nd in semi 1 with 240 points

Rising a spot to #2 this year are Underworld with their trance meets techno banger 'Born Slippy NUXX' which initially got big after being used in Trainspotting but has held up as a proper dance classic and we've never had a hit like this since. Definitely a track I can support remaining so high in this chart.

Which means Buzzjack's ULTIMATE DANCE SONG of all time goes to...

001. Robert Miles - Children

1996 | 312 points | [11-09-04-05-01] | 1st in semi 4 with 290 points

However this year it is Robert Miles who claims the fifth title of Ultimate Dance with his signature hit 'Children', which popularised 'dream trance'. Impressively it is the first completely instrumental track to make #1 after 'Sandstorm' just missed out to 'Insomnia' last time this was ran. Anyhow this is a very worthy winner, though I'd have been very happy with any of the top four winning this is a real beauty of a song.

Thanks for voting and following again. I'll once again give a plug to the Spotify playlist which features every available track that was nominated, it has almost two whole days worth of dance anthems!

Spotify playlist

(I might do a playlist of just the top 205 later)
