Same! I’m hoping it’ll be a decent sized hit like WLM at least.

Its doing very well on apple music and is still doing good on iTunes. The spotify debut was really good too! They just need more radio plays.

"decent sized hit like Woman Like Me"

Can we all stop underplaying WLM's success? It's one of their biggest hits. They'll be lucky to get a hit as big as that again in all honesty! This could be a cute 600k+ seller though providing they get timing and playlisting right!

I wasn’t underplaying WLM’s success at all? I just stated that it was their last big hit and I want them to have another big hit. ‘Decent sized hit’ in my terminology means it did very well. So chill.

I'm not sure if they'll ever get a hit as big as Woman Like Me ever again, tbh. I'd be happy with something 'Never Really Over' sized (with a peak more reflective of it).

This really reminds me of 'Nothing Else Matters'. Especially the post chorus "Ain't no more tears. Ain't gonna cry. Boy, I'll do anything to get you off my mind."

"Decent" typically means "acceptable standard/satisfactory", so I understand Jonjo thinking that decent understates how well Woman Like Me performed, with it being #2 / 6 weeks in the Top 5 / Platinum :heehee:

I think the perception that 'Woman Like Me' wasn't as big of a hit as it was could be down to it not having a particularly huge weekly sales, which is what we were used to after 'Black Magic' and 'Shout Out to My Ex'. However, there was a few things to consider here: 1) 'Shout Out to My Ex' premiered with an X Factor performance and the video dropped at the start of the second week, 'Woman Like Me' had its X Factor performance and video in its third week; 2) look at the general sales from Autumn 2016 and Autumn 2018, the sales are much lower as downloads continued to drop (and I think there was a streaming ratio change as well); 3) the initial reception to 'Woman Like Me' wasn't as immediately positive like it had been for 'Shout Out to My Ex', it took a couple of weeks for opinions to change.

I also think the way 'Woman Like Me' didn't seem to sell the album as well as expected could also have hindered people's perception of the song. I remember thinking after LM5 debuted at #3 "it's alright, it'll remain consistent in the Top 10 over Christmas, which it didn't, then I thought "it's okay, it'll jump straight back up again in the New Year, which it didn't.

It's all about metrics though. WLM's success is understated when compared to what the market as a whole was like at the time, but when considering Little Mix's track record leading up to LM5 it's a "decent sized hit" at best.

Even compared to their own track record, Woman Like Me did extremely well for them:

Weeks inside the Top 10, in numerical order (i.e. not necessarily the chart run order):

01-01-01-02-03-03-05-06-07-09-10 Shout Out to My Ex [11 weeks]

05-05-05-06-06-06-07-07-07-09-09 Reggaeton Lento [11 weeks]

04-04-04-04-04-04-05-06-08-10 Touch [10 weeks]

02-02-02-03-03-05-06-07-08 Woman Like Me [9 weeks]

06-06-08-08-09-09-10-10 Power [8 weeks]

01-01-01-03-04-06-10 Black Magic [7 weeks]

01-04-04-07 Wings [4 weeks]

01-02-06 Cannonball [3 weeks]

03-05-08 Move [3 weeks]

06-07-08 Secret Love Song [3 weeks]

03 DNA [1 week]

06 Salute [1 week]

06 Word Up! [1 week]

10 Bounce Back [1 week]

Fourth longest run in the Top 10. Only Shout Out to My Ex managed a longer stay inside the Top 3. ACR robbed Woman Like Me of at least two more weeks in the Top 10.

When it comes to sales, Woman Like Me is their 7th best selling single out of 24 singles, and also their second best selling lead single.

Bar the fact it didn't peak at #1, I'm not sure what more it could have done (I feel like how LM5 performed off the back of it is a separate discussion, it doesn't take away from how big a single it was). Woman Like Me was undoubtedly a huge hit, in terms of the market at the time and their career!

Not sure what this means? It stuck around for ages and would be on 1,100,000 sales on the same ratio as the other singles. It was kept off #1 by two songs. First Shallow, and second Thank U Next - both of which are the biggest hits of Gaga and Ariana's careers here.

The only thing I'd say about Woman Like Me; is that not good choice of song to sell albums. They should have released it in the Summer and released The Cure/Monster In Me etc in Q4.

I'm hoping it does well really liking it so far only thing I domt like is how it just cuts off abruptly like mid word does that bug anyone else
I know it doesn’t mean much nowadays and it’ll probably lose it soon, but it’s holding up much better than I expected it to be on Itunes.
I cannot wait for the live performances of this, so sad we'll be missing festival season this year. This already feels like a classic to me. Any midweek updates?
Now 2.1M streams on the spotify counter. Up 843k. Not the best but not a bad decrease at all, i expected it to free fall in streams ngl. Really hoping it gets put higher on HH though.
I can't help but feel a bit disappointed by the chorus? It sounds so flat to me. Hoping it will grow tbh

That’s not bad considering the lack of big playlist support outside the UK. I think it should be enough to keep them in the Top 50 today.

Up to #14 on Apple Music UK and #3 on Amazon UK Chart (not sure how relevant it is, but great nonetheless that it's still climbing). New peak on both.

It's about to fall to #2 on Itunes though.
