I hope he will be place 2 and will continue steady sales to Christmas. The huge shows are still ahead and the nearer to Christmas the more people feel Christmassy. I also heard that his CD will be sold with Aldi as up today.

Well, maybe no number one for the Christmas album, I had hoped for, but a big success nevertheless.

What I wonder however is:

There is no money in album sales aside you sell Adele's amounts. If you don't tour - which he will not do for a Christmas album - where is the money then with this album?

No chance of No.1 thanks to Coldplay widening the gap to 10k but hey should sell well in December and may even get to No.1 following the ITV special on Sun 8th. Was apparently recorded last night.

Of course there's money, especially if he gets decent sales up to Christmas. He's loaded anyway so doubt he needs it.

Yes it'll be near the tills in Aldi but doubt they'll do chart returns.

Interesting question, Liz.

In my opinion, everybody of them need have the artist like him.

So fe me it looks like win-win scheme when they can use his profile to promote their products while he has a possibility to reach his fans to use the new platforms.

I'm not sure it's a money deal. At least not so big money. Anyway, I believe he gets more from such type of promotion.

So, folks, I was wondering since the tracklist had been revealed and I'm still wondering considering this album and originals on it.

So, there are 20 originals...well, let's take away Coco's Lullaby Reprise...so 19 originals totally.

So, I'm wondering which artist or band has been produced and released more own Christmas songs than Robbie?

No, listen, literally I'm looking for somebody in music pop history who has made more. I almost can't find anybody with such quantity original songs on their album or even overally during their careers.

Only two artists could be around this achievement:

1. RuPaul (looks she's absolute winner)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slay_Belles

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christmas_Party_(RuPaul_album)

2. Snoop Dogg:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snoop_Dogg_Pr..._tha_Dogg_House

For example, Beach Boys and Johnny Cash has plenty of their own songs but totally is about 10 songs, not more...

Please help me to find somebody else.

So, anyway I just wanted to admit Robbie and his mgmt together have made a really great and rather unique job.

It's for a case if somebody tell you that Rob is becoming into Buble. Absolutely not.

I cannot find anyone either Alex , he sure has a lot of originals songs which is fantastic in my opinion & really nice songs too . Robbie has always been a prolific songwriter , I mean he has just written 20 songs for The Boy in The Dress in two weeks , that's no mean feat ....

I don't think he has much chance either as streaming will go against him.
Congratulations to Coldplay, who land straight in at Number 1 on this week’s Official Albums Chart with Everyday Life, fending off competition from Robbie Williams’s new festive collection The Christmas Present.

The band’s eighth studio album opens with 81,000 chart sales, making it the third fastest-selling album of the year, behind Ed Sheeran’s No.6 Collaborations Project (125,000) and Lewis Capaldi’s Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent (90,000).

Coldplay also continue their unbroken streak of Number 1 studio albums; their first was with their debut album Parachutes in 2000. View their complete Official UK Chart history here.

It means Robbie has to settle for second place with his new album and first ever Christmas record The Christmas Present, which opens with 67,000 chart sales. All of Robbie’s albums have charted in the Top 2.

However, the Stoke-On-Trent star claims a curious new chart feat all of his own this week – becoming the fastest-selling cassette release in almost two decades, shifting nearly 10,000 copies on cassette in the past 7 days. That’s even more than the likes of Billie Eilish, The 1975 and Kylie Minogue who all had huge opening sales of their latest albums on the retro format. The last album to sell more than The Christmas Present’s 9,661 copies in a week was Now 52 way back in July 2002.

So, 67k.

That's the equal numbers as Robbie had with The Heavy Entertainment Show (66,835). Even more now.

While Coldplay had ~250k with previous album and 81k now.

TCPresent has Silver status now.

Well done, Rob.

But. I believe he will reach Number 1 on New Year Chart. Let's see.

I think that this is quite a lot considering it was November and not everyone was already in Christmas mode.

Thanks for the update, Alex

In Germany he is no 2 either as the lead singer of Rammstein beat him to place one. He will start the German promo next week. I don't know however how many albums he shifted. Maybe 15 - 20000 there? Do you know Alex?

hm... I'd say he was not so good vocally the evening at BBC Live while the setlist was very good

I enjoyed it actually , we get the real deal wit all it's imperfections which never bothers me on a live radio show , that's the way it goes sometimes

Different end to No Regrets, Ii love that song , really well written , it upsets some people but to me it was how he was feeling at the time , will always be a favourite of mine, great story telling

I missed the beginning of the concert , did he sing any songs from is Xmas album , sometimes that lad makes me scratch my head

The concert is here!

Btw, I just admit Time For Change is MUCH better in live. The use wonderful arrangements.

What I really like in this song is pre-choruses with a children choir and bridge.

Considering No Regrets... Yes, Syd, agree with you.

It's my favourite songs of all time, not only Robbie's.

Btw, talking about Christmas, Last Christmas is around the corner in personal faves.

It's also on my list of all time favourite songs from any artist , I never tire of listening to it . I wonder if he will record Fairytale of New York at some time in the future ..

Last Christmas, do you mean your all tiime favourite Xmas song

Mine is Chris Rea Driving Home for Christmas,

Well, not only Xmas songs but at all. Def, Last Christmas means much more than just one more festive song, especially after George loss.

In fact, it's one more song what I can listen anytime and never tire of it.

Well, we have similar tastes :)

I also like Driving Home For Christmas very much.

My Top-5 of Xmas songs:

1. Wham! - Last Christmas

2. Chris Rea - Driving Home for Christmas

3. Frank Sinatra - Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas

4. John Lennon - Happy Xmas (War Is Over)

5. Darlene Love - All Alone On Christmas

I think that this is quite a lot considering it was November and not everyone was already in Christmas mode.

Yes, it's really a lot.

Check the best 1-week sales of 2019 and you can see that Robbie's sales is 6th result!

So all questions come to Sony in choosing of that week while current weeks is very сalm.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019_in_Briti...mber-one_albums

Ed Sheeran - 125,031

Lewis Capaldi - 89,506

Coldplay - 80,974

Liam Gallagher - 68,327

Robbie - 67,182

Any other week Rob could be No1.

So, it's a pity, almost like his lose to JLS of a few hundreds copies in 2009.

I also really LOVE Driving home for Christmas.

Well done to Coldplay and well done to Robbie on his 67K. It's great that he is matching the HES sales although he did release that album a couple of weeks earlier.

I'm guessing his "team" weighed up the pros and cons of releasing the album in a busy week up against Coldplay, versus a week closer to Christmas and a quieter week. I'm hoping it's that and not just complete ineptitude on his Management front! <_<

He'll be very disappointed and it must be hard to go to the Radio 2 gig with that level of disappointment in your heart. But - he's a professional and there's still a chance he can get there. If anyone can turn it around - he can.

Gorgeous

Hopefully watch the Radio 2 gig tomorrow.
