I feel so shitty about all of this for everybody.

Yes, as far as tourism goes there will probably be a similar system in place like what the EU has in place with Australia for example which I believe has 90 days visa free travel. So aside from longer airport cues I don't think tourism will change THAT much.

Work is a whole different matter. :(

I'm still waiting to find out what visa/residency things I am eligible for here in Germany and then what that allows me to do in terms of travel for work/leisure in the Schengen area :(

This is the bit that still up in the air for me too. I'm perfectly fine to stay in Iceland, earn money, recieve healthcare, put into my pension etc, but the minute I set foot into Europe where do I stand with my UK passport in 2020? :(

This applies to every country so I'm pretty sure it will be the same for UK when the rules get decided upon. If you have a valid long-term Icelandic work visa you'll be able to travel in the Schengen area without any restrictions. There's no border control or passport checks when travelling between two Schengen countries after all.

If you stay there for a long period of time then just apply for citizenship and it's all dealt with :D That's how my Spanish friend who is now also British has done~

You are wrong on every single point. Sorry.

1. Wrooong!!! They have attacked the human rights act continuously. If you think evil tories care about us having rights, you are on another planet. They are gone, and will be replaced by some bare-bones thing easily exploitable by this far right government. Greenpeace is on the Bojo terrorism list btw.

2. You are simply wrong.

3. We no longer have the RIGHT. It is a righr we are LOSING, which is what YOU asked.

4. Do we? Do we? I trust Eurppe far more than our tory elite.

5. Good

6. The government's own words and the science and education communities' own assessments

7. The EU won a peace prize lol.

1. Did you read that Greenpeace thing where I did, too - and to claim that is Boris's list as if he personally wrote it, is just ridiculous! As to the HR issue, do you seriously think the current legislation is perfect, when a 'right to family life' or 'I will be tortured if deported' can be used by criminals to escape deportation?

3. Are we being denied to ability to work elsewhere by Brexit? No!

4. You trust Hannibal Lectur more than you trust the tory elite, so to me that's merely damning with faith praise. :P

6. Could you point me to where the gov't has said that?

7. Does a peace prize guarantee peace? Of course not!

3. Are we being denied to ability to work elsewhere by Brexit? No!

Actually yes. Unless some kind of preferential deal gets made all the regular/"unskilled" jobs in the EU countries will not be available for the Brits.

Say, you're a student and you want to take a gap year to travel to Europe and work there for a few months, this is likely to not be possible anymore.

Wait

So you're actually advocating for criminals to be deported to their homeland, even if their life is at a severe risk? (Say a muslim deported to China after commiting a crime). You do realise tjis goes against the Human Rights agreement of the UN, therefor has nothing to do with the EU. Or do you want to leave the UN as well to make Britain British again?

Bless you pavpav. That actually helps put my mind at ease a fair bit.

I’m counting down the days until I can swap citizenship to Deutschland. Until then, at least my passport is burgundy and still says EU on it until 2028

Wait

Since IMO they only *claim* that to avoid getting deported, I don't see it as a significant problem.

vidcapper trying not to mention the cat story:

What cat story?

Are you really that ignorant? Do you genuinely think that every single country is 100% safe for people who, for example, have fled the country's totalitarian regime?

Well, if they are dumb enough to commit crimes after fleeing such a country, I'm sorry, but I cannot feel any sympathy for them.

So the answer to Suedey's question is: yes x

So.....translation: I don't believe "them", send "them" back?

Ok......wow.

Let's hope that in the very unlikely event you that actually had to flee your home and were in genuine danger , the immigration officers you encountered were more sympathetic than you.

It must be lovely to have such a well informed and rounded view of the world from up there in your ivory tower.

If they were genuine in danger, then they have a case - but most just 'try it on' to avoid the consequences of their actions.

Do you have any statistics to back this up? The Sun and Daily Mail aren't sources.

'Some businesses will benefit from Brexit and some will not' - those last four words sound ominous! - the Tories can finally be more honest and forthright now the election is over.

Can you verify this to be true or is it just exaggerated hearsay that aligns itself with what you would like to be true?

:)

The only ones that might are Pontins, Bultins, etc, and UK resorts. I guess that's why they can say SOME.

Says the king of anecdotal evidence
