And it IS no.1. It is the most consumed no.1. The OCC is corrupt snd disgusting and has a vendetta against her. That amazon song needed to be remoced from the charts weeks ago, but no. They wanted this. They PURPOSEFULLY split her video sales, and they apparently rejected their requests to reset it baxk to SCR. Let's also remember that the ENTIRE ACR RULE was put into place, with the 3 year rule lol, to defeat Mariah. They HATE the song. And it is vile. The charts should be a reflection, ans not say what those dithering oldies at the OCC want it to say. Charts are cancelled.

I don't think they hate the song, imo they would rather it was a new song at no1 not a song 25 years old.

Is there evidence the OCC rejected the labels asking for AIWFCIY to return to SCR?

No one will listen unfort - she's second again this year and Ellie was streamed more. It's unfair but they are the facts!

I don't know how she could have been streamed more if she's only 12 on the streaming chart? It's not even believable.

I have no evidence to provide, so it's essentially hearsay... but apparently it is the case that Columbia requested it, but were ultimately rejected. It's info that comes from someone in the industry, who told a friend, who told a friend... so it's something to either believe or not believe. I personally think it's true. Mariah's team were clearly focused on a UK push with new physicals / the Walkers advert promo etc.

It's inaccurate to say Ellie was streamed more! The total audio streams of River this week were 55% of what All I Want for Christmas Is You achieved. But after AIWFCIY has its streaming sales halved, it loses out to River.

I find it totally suspicious that River with just Amazon could even achieve as much as 55% of AIWFCIY streams, which is obviously available on every streaming platform.

The whole requesting thing is ridiculous. It should be automatically reset when there is very clear promotional info released (i.e. physicals, a new video, even a Walkers advert + all this done to tie in with the 25th Anniversary)...

Also the whole "maybe they want a new song at #1 and not a 25 year old song" is bull, when they were happily reporting the fact she reached number 1 in the US finally and asking if it could do the same over here etc.. Had she been number 1 it would/could have created more traffic for their site and had people talking about the charts in a positive way. It's awful that they did this and had she been on SCR after the label requested it, she'd have been an easy number 1, even with the split video streams...

It's honestly ridiculous that the label went to the trouble of asking to get it put back to SCR and the OCC DENYING it... (Providing that's true ofc)

I'm so disappointed... :( This year felt like the perfect time for it to finally happen. AIWFCIY finally outdid all "normal song" competition very emphatically (Stormzy), but now she ended up losing out to Alexa... I mean, Ellie Goulding. <_<

I've lost all faith that AIWFCIY will ever make it to UK #1 in the future. I really wish it had done it in 2018... the sales margin between her and Ava being 152 sales will always be irritating.

Maybe it was a bit of a mistake on the label's part to not release the CD single here. I feel like that could have encouraged more casual sales than the rather expensive 7" Vinyl and Cassette formats. Physicals should have been made available on Amazon etc too, rather than be a store exclusive, like Wham's 7". I don't think the Mariah UK store was promoted very well tbh; the main focus on buying merchandise was directed to her US store.

Sigh... at least it made it to #1 in the US, which in the grand scheme of things must mean more to Mariah and the label. #1 in Germany is lovely to see too! It just would have been the icing on the cake to do it here in the UK.

Oh well. Regardless, Mariah is always going to have the ultimate modern Christmas song.

Not now sweetie

I lowkey agree 👀

When is "modern" no longer "modern"? :heehee:

Well there's no proof that they asked for this so we have to leave that. But as you say certain criteria should be met and then it should be automatic rather than having to go to the OCC begging bowl to ask for a reset.

This is the fakest chart we have ever had. Cancelled. Mariah was the most-consumed song of the week. Facts. Therefore, she is no.1.
At least anyone who cares about & follows the Chart (like the community here) will know that Mariah is the true #1. The average member of the public will assume it was #1 anyway so in pretty much everything bar a increasingly meaningless statistic it IS a UK #1. It is now simply just amusing witnessing the OCC trying to wriggle their way out of it...

100% THIS

I guess it is completely meaningless now. The OCC killed their own chart because of a desperate hatred toeards Mariah. It's pathetic, really, when most people assume it was a no.1 or just don't care about the charts in the first place.

The stats will unfort say different though. In a 100 years time people will look back and only see the facts.
Like wham and the pogues most people think that all these songs made number , I know the charts books say differently but most people dont look into such information except for people like us here on the forum.
Yeh true, it's one of my fun facts at Christmas every year telling my dad and sister that The Pogues were beaten to no1 by Pet Shop Boys!

Spot on Steve.

Mariah's team looked into it and were informed that the Official Charts noticed the dip in Mariah's video position and calculated the Jukebox Heaven points into Mariah's total. That is what they are claiming they did but it doesn't add up. If they noticed her position was wrong why didn't they simply correct it before issuing the charts? She would have been number one on the video chart and number one on the main streaming chart. She streamed more than Wham last week, that is a fact, Youtube and Kworbs data show that she was the most watched video of the week. The OC deliberately removed sales from Mariah to give Ellie the number one. Disgusting.

Yeah, no. [in reference to posts that have been deleted] What we're NOT gonna do is allow name-calling of any artist irregardless of how popular or unpopular they seem to be on here.

Please act your age.

Thanks.

That's barmy though because Jukebox Heaven aren't Mariah.
