I find it interesting in cases like this to look at what numbers the album tracks are doing, just because it annoys me just a little to see stats like 'Bebe Rexha's album passes 1 billion streams' when in reality 80% of that is 1 song and not every track even has 1 million plays. Ariana deserves credit though, the least played song on "thank u, next" is still as high as 76 million plays on Spotify, I think in 2019 only Billie Eilish gets particularly close (she'd be way ahead if not for "goodbyes" which isn't really a proper track). It feels a bit elitist (classist even?) to look down on an artist for having big numbers only outside of the traditional format though. Everyone enjoys music for different reasons, and in different ways.
