I wonder if the people responsible for these releases are aware of how many fans were really wanting it to be the original cover?

The fact that the Universal store says "Spice Girls – The Greatest Hits will retain the original artwork this time as a single sleeve LP with printed inner sleeve to house the deluxe 180g vinyl LP." as if the picture disc was the original artwork... sigh!!

I feel like there might be some stupid legal reason for them not being able to use the original artwork.

Like what exactly? When has there ever been a legal problem with using the original artwork for a re-release?

Well it isn't a pic of the girls, it is supposedly made using images of expensive gem stones, remember the headlines of it cost X millions to make. Well I wonder if they had to get rights to use the gem stones images if they are real (they aren't going to actually buy the gem stones outright) and cant get approval or rights to use them on a new release now.

Cher got sued a lot of money for using a font and style on one of her recent albums that copied another that she didn't have rights or permission for.

Going by the original artwork on the Amazon pre-order had the gem stone cover and the write up on some vinyl stores say 'using the original artwork' is clear they tried or wanted to use the original cover but something has stopped that from happening.

I honestly think the “retain the original artwork” description is referring to the cover of the picture disc as being original in the sense of it being the first vinyl. “Retain” would be a bit of an odd word to use if describing going back to the CD artwork, to me that word implies uninterrupted usage of the same artwork, but that hasn’t been the case.

I’ve always felt a bit skeptical about the expensive gem stones story :’) For something that was supposedly so expensive, it comes across as cheap graphics.

Maybe the graphs are so cheap that they will look even more distorted in large vinyl size? B-) IMAGINE if that is the reason why, I would die :teresa:

So odd that they went with a different cover. Here's hoping they do the same with Forever though

The white vinyl at HMV is now £14.99 down from £25.99 and the standard black vinyl of ‘Spice’ is now just £9.99 on HMV online :)

^ Hopefully that'll attract more sales for Spice!

I wonder how well Spiceworld and Greatest Hits will do in the UK chart? I really hope they both return to the Top 100. If Spiceworld goes Top 100, it'll be for the first time since April 1999!

Yes that would be great. I was thinking that ‘Spiceworld’ hasn’t been in the Top 100 since the 90s, let’s hope the vinyl gives it that push 🙏
