Think I agree that this is their best lead single since 'Human', really liking it on first listen!
Is it just me or is this mixed really weirdly? It kinda sounds a bit tinny in the chorus and it's always throwing me off.

Yeah I noticed that too, I thought it was just me. When it goes into the chorus it sounds like a poor quality version of the track.

With this out and a new album coming it will help direct hits with sales and keep it in the charts. I really think direct hits will get 3x platinum in time as it's clearly over 700k now. It's done really well for them.

I assume this is a grat if it's 'one of their favourite album tracks'? But could be interpreted as the new single too I guess.
Hope it’s good as they need something big to save this era from being a total flop. I don’t think there’s any hype so far at all and both R1 and R2 have totally snubbed them so far this era.

I don't think they'll be complaining, I'm actually pretty sure they're not releasing another single right now down to the fact that Caution has gone to #1 on alt radio in the USA - their first song to do so since "When You Were Young".

They're obviously not going to have massive hit singles at this point.

Hit singles wont happen regardless, mr brightside will chart higher most of the time than a new single, caution going top 100 was a great surprise, they really are an albums act now but there albums always do well.

But as has been said, in the US first #1 on Alt/Rock for 13 years (longest gap between #1's ever) and starting to be picked up by more HAC stations so not a flop at all.

In the UK I'm assuming R2 will support it soon, probably a late impact date. Virgin Radio and XFM have been playing it to death.

Overall I think they are still doing really well and one of the very few from their time that have remained very successful.

To be fair though, they didn't exactly get a hit single from the last era either.

I’m not expecting a hit single, my point was lack of support from Radio and less hype than previous albums in the UK! I admit they’re doing well in America but here in the UK I don’t feel there is as much hype for ‘caution’ as there was for ‘The Man’ for example.

Album has been pushed back :( Though I'm really liking 'Fire In Bone' - something a bit different for them and very Talking Heads-esque.

Yeh I'm quite likin this change in direction, quite funky and as you rightly point out sounds like 'Talking Heads'!
They played (not great quality) of 'Dying Breed' on their Instagram live tonight. Looks like that is the second single and it is *big*.
