Well at least Tones & I is still #1. C'mon get that 11th week! :cheer:

I love the Ellie song but there's no way she should be that high. There's something really fishy about her being #2.

Mariah dethroned as the queen of Christmas. We are forced to stan!

:w00t:

incredible also that Ellie started the year with Flux peaking at #97 and Mama at #98 and now she's sitting at #2

how much Spotify data is usually included in this chart? I wonder if she's benefiting a bit because the infamously slow data producing platform would be costing everyone *but* her streams here.

it's also crazy how the Amazon Xmas effect has grown since last year

Katy Perry last year just made #23 and that late in Dec

this year River is doing much better, and same for the John Legend cover

So Christmas songs make up half of the First Look chart this evening, wow. Delighted to see Slade in there at least, wasn't expecting that!

typically it's just Friday's streaming data for all platforms for this first look chart because for whatever reason they can't ever get yesterday's streaming data in on time.

Wow! Never expected an Amazon exclusive to get this high! Will be interested in seeing the sales

I love Ellie's version of River, and the original has always been a beautiful song, and one that should have been a UK hit.

But this sets such a scary precedent. I bet there will be a lot of artists wanting to go Amazon exclusive with normal singles from this point on, knowing they'll have the full force of Alexa behind them (especially if they can wrangle the top spot on tons of different playlists - obviously the effect is amplified at Christmas). It's pretty scary how much passive playlisting influences the charts!

Hopefully Ellie doesn't go #1. I like the song, but Ellie's rendition is really poor. She can't hold a candle to Alisan Porter.

if you have to compare, use the original, that's the definitive version

but at least Ellie is putting River and Joni Mitchell on the map and introducing them to a new generation

Ah, thought that might be the case. So it'll be a question of whether she'll be offset more by an inflated early showing or if the song is genuinely growing more swell day by day as to where she ends up on Friday.

I think it's possible there might be more Amazon data than other streaming services because this seriously doesn't seem like it should add up. Clearer picture tomorrow I guess!

I'm pretty sure your right win this point, hope she remains top 5 though. I like anchart shock especially when none of us has any of the facts we usually have.

I'm more shocked at John Legend being #10

We knew River was gonna be a climber but wasn't even expecting John Legend to be top 100 :D

It's the fifth song on Alexa when you ask her to play Christmas music. Surely that's not enough?
Dance Monkey is on ACR next week (most likely), so I wonder if Ellie could genuinely be the Xmas #1?

Not with Mariah's xmas party streaming!
