Didnt realise if Uptown funk wasnt forced to be released early we would have had an ed return to number 1

hoping that Amazon added some crazy made-up sales to River and Ellie is the new #1 :D

The Sun was running an anti-Harry story the other day about how his album was flopping and was going to end up outside of the top 10. For some reason Simon Boyle, their Bizarre page editor, has it in for Harry Styles. I don't know why but Boyle keeps running negative stories about Harry.

I saw the article, I think it was more about Liam's album missing the top 10, but it did include Harry and suggested that his album possibly finishing at #2 behind Stormzy would be a disastrous outcome. It was a pretty pathetic article all round really!

Biography

Taylor Alison Swift (born December 13, 1989) is an American singer-songwriter. She is known for narrative songs about her personal life, which have received widespread media coverage. Born and raised in Pennsylvania, Swift moved to Nashville, Tennessee, at the age of 14 to pursue a career in country music. She signed with label Big Machine Records and became the youngest artist ever signed by the Sony/ATV Music publishing house. Her 2006 self-titled debut album was the longest-charting album of the 2000s in the US, where it peaked at number five. The album's third single, "Our Song", made her the youngest person to single-handedly write and perform a number-one song on the Hot Country Songs chart. Swift's second album, Fearless, was released in 2008. Buoyed by the success of pop crossover singles "Love Story" and "You Belong with Me", Fearless became the best-selling album of 2009 in the US. The album won four Grammy Awards, with Swift becoming the youngest Album of the Year winner.

Swift was the sole writer of her 2010 album, Speak Now. It debuted at number one in the US and the single "Mean" won two Grammy Awards. Her fourth album, Red (2012), yielded the successful singles "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" and "I Knew You Were Trouble". For her fifth album, the pop-focused 1989 (2014), she received three Grammys and became the first woman and fifth act overall to win Album of the Year twice. Its singles "Shake It Off", "Blank Space", and "Bad Blood" reached number one in the US, Australia, and Canada. Swift's sixth album, Reputation (2017), and its lead single, "Look What You Made Me Do", topped the UK and US charts; with Reputation, she became the first act to have four albums sell one million copies within one week in the US. Her upcoming seventh album, Lover (2019), spawned two US top-five singles, "Me!" and "You Need to Calm Down".

Swift is one of the best-selling music artists of all time, having sold more than 50 million albums—including 32.7 million in the US—and 150 million single downloads. As a songwriter, she has received awards from the Nashville Songwriters Association and the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and was included in Rolling Stone's 100 Greatest Songwriters of All Time in 2015. She is the recipient of various other accolades such as 10 Grammys, one Emmy, 23 Billboard Music Awards, 23 American Music Awards, and 12 Country Music Association Awards, and holds six Guinness World Records. She has appeared in Time's 100 most influential people in the world three times (2010, 2015, 2019) and Forbes' list of top-earning women in music (2011–2015). She also ranked first in the Forbes Celebrity 100 (2016 and 2019), and was the youngest to be featured in the magazine's listing of the 100 most powerful women (2015). - Wikipedia

Biography

Flying the flag for Coventry's rap scene with a self-assured swagger, JAY1 had a meteoric rise after single "Your Mrs" made its way to the 18th spot on the U.K. charts.

Originally rapping as Young Jay, JAY1 started making music seriously after moving from North London to the historically student-based city of Coventry in 2016. Bold, self-assured vocals and candid lyrics gave the U.K. MC a fundamental versatility: despite often letting his lyrics speak for themselves on minimalist trap beats, he demonstrated his ability to adapt to everything from drill to dancehall. After delivering freestyles on two popular U.K. video series, Bl@ckbox and Hardest Out, JAY1 saw his first major success with "That's My Bae," which blew up through online video channels before inspiring its own freestyle challenge. A series of 2018 singles helped boost the rapper's fan base and expand his sound, leading to him trying his hand at summer dancehall on "Good Vibes" and blunt braggadocio on "Becky." It wasn't until "Your Mrs" that the Coventry MC found his breakout hit: After a snippet of its chorus received social media buzz, the song's music video hit a million views on streaming services just three days after its release. Building on this success, he quickly landed a spot on the remix of Russ and Tion Wayne's "Keisha & Becky," before appearing on Charlie Sloth's Fire in the Booth radio show in April 2019. His debut EP, One Wave, was released in July of the same year. - Spotify

Last last week for dam dance monkey

Last last week for dam dance monkey

Possibly but we won't know until we see a breakdown of the sales figures. If I recall its streaming sales were only down slightly the other day when compared to last week.

I can't believe it's 20 years ago since everyone was complaining on the Dotmusic chart forum about 'The Millennium Prayer' being at number 1!

I would've definitely been one of those people if I weren't 2 at the time. One of the worst songs to ever hit #1, plus all those dance tracks in that top 10 that could've been #1 in its place!

Incidentally, the OCC are going to be making a "major announcement" in the New Year. About what I don't know, just that they are going to be announcing something big. I wonder if it's chart related? There's been a few changes in staff in the last month so it could be something to do with that but I do wonder if it could be chart related. If so I wonder if it's something along the lines of only counting streams of tracks that have been selected by a user rather than passive listening streams from playlists... rumours have been doing the rounds for months that this may happen one day. It would certainly kill off Christmas songs from dominating the upper end of the charts every December if it was to happen.

hopefully the announcement isn’t them killing old christmas faves entirely from the chart but i get the feeling, this may be Mariah’s last ever chance before she is chart ineligible forever.

Biography

Streatham, South London-born grime artist Dave (aka Santan Dave) may only have been 16 when he entered the grime spotlight, but his conscious lyrical style made him sound well beyond his years. Growing up, Dave was inspired to pursue art in some form. Taking cues from his older brothers, he initially tried his hand at animation before moving on to piano before finally settling on becoming a fully-fledged grime MC; unfortunately, his brothers would end up serving lengthy prison sentences. To cope with the drastic alteration to their lives, Dave burrowed even deeper into his music, causing him to develop a socially aware form of wordplay that set him apart from his peers. Despite starting to write bars around the age of ten, it was six years later that Dave would make his first appearance, freestyling on an underground grime channel, Bl@ckbox, in 2015. In January of the following year Dave returned with his first music video/single "JKYL+HYD," cementing his reputation for deep subject matter and ambitious lyrics. In the following months, Dave delivered two key freestyles on BBC Radio 1. The first was on Semtex's 1Xtra show and the second on Charlie Sloth's Fire in the Booth. A number of singles followed, including a standout collaboration with West London's own rising star, AJ Tracey, on "Thiago Silva." By September Dave was ready to drop his first EP, Six Paths. The release was a success in its own right, but gained even more attention when Canadian rapper Drake remixed the single "Wanna Know," bringing Dave's sound to an American audience. - iTunes
