What a beautiful poll. And a 59-28 to progressive* parties (and we haven't even got the SNP and PC figures.) Considering in the mid to late 00s the Tories + UKIP/Brexit would consistently get over 50% and now are just over 30% top it is so depressing that we have the hardest right government in living memory.

* I know many many would disagree and say that Starmer's Labour and the Lib Dems aren't that progressive but that's not the yardstick I'm using as I think the Tories are way more damaging than anything they can do.

According to Electoral Calculus, that 15-point lead would still leave Labour short of a majority. Under the proposed new boundaries, they would still only make it to 325 (exactly half the seats) if they did a deal with the Lib Dems. Assuming Sinn Fein still stayed away, that would amount to a very small majority.
Disgustingly undemocratic, but the UK is barely a functioning democracy, and the system is a playground for the rich and Tory.

Is no-one updating polls anymore? Two released yesterday show just 3 and 4 point gaps between Labour and the Tories. Looks like the revival starts.

To be expected Chris with a change in leadership and both candidates sprung across the media every day, especially during summer recess.

you can just post the link yourself, Chris, and then we can see which poll you mean and whether its a comprehensive national poll across all sections of the population, or whether it's a Daily Mail Fan Club poll. Most people I know who buy the Mail are just after the points collecting for cash. Actually I was asked to go into the newsagent yesterday and take a photo of the points and send it to a mate who couldnt get out due to injuries after a fall. While I'm in favour in principle of lower sales for the Mail and pissing off the readership who would find their points wouldnt register when they tried to add them in, I couldnt in all conscience deprive someone else of their points for a mate to get a few pennies

The polls paint a pretty grim picture for Liz Truss. She's gone in ultra-hard Conservative mode to win backers and is going to have to do something pretty snappy with State handouts to protect not just the most vulnerable, but all the lower middle classess as well. Kind of feels like she had jumped on board a sinking ship, the Tories are going to get absolutely hammered at the next election and a small tax cut is not going to be the golden key imo.

And the Opinium poll understates the Labour score more compared to other polling companies.

There is zero love for Liz Truss out there and she hasn't even started

It’s pretty hilarious that she/the Tory membership think it will!

I just can't believe the government are standing by twiddling their thumbs while this car crash unfolds in front of them. There's no way they win the next election.

I hope Liz goes mad and calls a snap election. *_*

She won't, she thinks tax cuts to appeal the middle classes will get back the votes she will lose. At this point unless the Labour Party destroys itself through in-fighting, I think they just need to show they are competent and they will get elected. Governments lose elections I guess rather than the opposition winning them. The tactic at the moment is already to try and lay blame to Labour for what happened 10 years ago and suspect this will continue from Tory HQ.
