121 Avril Lavigne - What the Hell | 2011 | EOY Peak: xx

122 Kate Nash - Kiss That Grrrl | 2010 | EOY Peak: xx

123 Lewis Watson - Stay | 2014 | EOY Peak: 12

124 Charli XCX feat. Rita Ora - Doing It | 2015 | EOY Peak: 13

125 Marshmello & Anne-Marie - FRIENDS | 2018 | EOY Peak: 12

126 Martin Garrix & Troye Sivan - There For You | 2017 | EOY Peak: 12

127 Katie Sky - Sweet Sweet Melody | 2011 | EOY Peak: xx

128 Delta Goodrem - Wish You Were Here | 2012 | EOY Peak: 11

129 BTS feat. Halsey - Boy With Luv | 2019 | EOY Peak: 12

130 Maty Noyes - In My Mind | 2016 | EOY Peak: 12

A couple of my BJSC entries appear in this section, kicking off with In My Mind by Maty Noyes. The track was instant LOVE for me - I confirmed it for BJSC after just one listen! Of course, I knew Maty already from her Kygo collaboration Stay, but In My Mind remains her very best song for me (and she has a selection of good'uns now too). I also sent Lewis Watson's Stay back in 2014 and it was a surprise cute hit, which was great to see as I really love the track - the highlight from his very strong debut album The Morning! Though I didn't send it, Katie Sky's Sweet Sweet Melody was also a BJSC entry, but before my time. I discovered it another way, perhaps through its own pop forum thread but I can't really remember. Nevertheless, I love the bubbly pop vibe it has and I became very obsessed with it at the time!

K-Pop representation comes in the form of BTS with their mega anthem Boy With Luv, the first of two K-Pop tracks to appear. Much of the rest of the section is filled up with familiar, well-known Joseph favourites, including the stunning piano ballad Wish You Were Here by Delta Goodrem, bops from Troye Sivan and Anne-Marie collaborating with DJs to varying degrees of success (Radio 1 snubbing There For You still hurts), Kate Nash's iconic sass anthem Kiss That Grrrl, and Charli XCX and Rita Ora teaming up for the brilliance of Doing It, which I heard them play together at the O2 last year! The section closes off with Avril Lavigne's only top 200 appearance. What the Hell may be typical Avril, but it ticks all the boxes so brilliantly! Effortlessly catchy and anthemic.

Giving BEFORE a listen now, quite enjoying it, fairly minimal but it works well I think!

Brilliant to see Magnetised here, another tune from Tom, plus Firestone which is still to come in my EOY.

111 Ariana Grande feat. Iggy Azalea - Problem | 2014 | EOY Peak: 7

112 Shawn Mendes & Camila Cabello - Señorita | 2019 | EOY Peak: 11

113 Ulrik Munther - Nån gång | 2015 | EOY Peak: 11

114 Shawn Mendes - Treat You Better | 2016 | EOY Peak: 10

115 Delta Goodrem - Wings | 2015 | EOY Peak: 12

116 Cody Simpson - La Da Dee | 2013 | EOY Peak: 11

117 Iggy Azalea feat. Rita Ora - Black Widow | 2014 | EOY Peak: 13

118 Charlene Soraia - Wherever You Will Go | 2011 | EOY Peak: xx

119 Greyson Chance - Waiting Outside the Lines | 2010 | EOY Peak: xx

120 Christina Perri - Jar of Hearts | 2011 | EOY Peak: xx

Kicking this section off with some representation from the start of the decade, Christina Perri's Jar of Hearts had the world sobbing. It remains a stunning track, and it was the song that made me join Spotify because I couldn't afford to download it yet.... Charlene Soraia's cover of Wherever You Will Go was also from 2011, and I much prefer it to the original (which I don't dislike, this is just much more my thing!). Greyson Chance's debut single sits in between - a stark contrast to his current music though he seems to still have a soft spot for it, he performed it at a soundcheck last year!

Iggy Azalea features twice in this section, once with her own single Black Widow, a track that I instantly adored, and once with Ariana Grande on Problem, a track that took some growing But I truly adored it after a few plays. Cody Simpson's La Da Dee was a highly anticipated release based on its snippet back in 2013 and it didn't disappoint! Other big names in this section include Delta Goodrem's barnstorming comeback Wings, double Shawn Mendes, and Ulrik Munther's Swedish language track Nån gång, which translates to "sometime".

Since my last comment, I've liked

Little Mix - Touch

Demi Lovato - Skyscraper

Iggy Azalea - Change Your Life

Camila Cabello - Havana

Charli XCX - Doing It

Iggy Azalea - Black Widow

Ariana Grande - Problem    Huge contender for my song of the decade. I'm not sure I've been as obsessed with a song in the same way I was with this when it was released.

Edited by LewisGT

Giving La Da Dee a listen now, very cheesy but the ukulele is a nice touch! Jar of Hearts is an incredibly powerful and emotional song as well, even if it was overdone by Year 9 girls at every Christmas Concert :P

I really liked jar of hearts, it's still to come in my eod.

the wherever you will go cover was nice enough and I also enjoyed problem and black widow.

101 Ariana Grande - One Last Time | 2017 | EOY Peak: 40

102 Years & Years - Eyes Shut | 2015 | EOY Peak: 10

103 Alyssa Reid - Running Guns | 2013 | EOY Peak: 10

104 Ellie Goulding - Your Song | 2010 | EOY Peak: xx

105 Rita Ora - Let You Love Me | 2018 | EOY Peak: 14

106 Louis Tomlinson feat. Bebe Rexha & Digital Farm Animals - Back to You | 2017 | EOY Peak: 9

107 Ariana Grande feat. Nicki Minaj - Side To Side | 2016 | EOY Peak: 9

108 Ruel - Painkiller | 2019 | EOY Peak: 10

109 Stooshe - Black Heart | 2012 | EOY Peak: 10

110 Rita Ora feat. Cardi B, Bebe Rexha & Charli XCX - Girls | 2018 | EOY Peak: 11

Not gonna dwell too much on commentary right now but there's a clear overperformer here in Ariana Grande's One Last Time - which featured across 2015 and 2017's separate EOYs of course. I listed 2017 as that was its highest EOY position, understandably after the horrible events at Manchester gave the song a new, poignant meaning to me. Elsewhere in this section we start to lose a heap of EOY top 10s, including double Rita Ora, though in the opposite order to their 2018 placings!

Hey Joseph, I'll comment on your decade chart once it's complete but here are my picks from your 2019 top 50:

1 Oscar Enestad - I Love It I saw this live in Malmo and was SHOCKED how badly it did, it sounded huge and great in the arena and seemed popular in the crowd

2 Harry Styles - Lights Up So impressed with the Fine Line album, this was a solid enough single but I like most of the album more

3 Kygo & Whitney Houston - Higher Love

5 Bea Miller & 6LACK - it's not u it's me

10 Ruel - Painkiller

11 Shawn Mendes & Camila Cabello - Señorita A real throwback to last summer, a great track

12 BTS feat. Halsey - Boy With Luv

14 Harry Styles - Adore You

15 Ava Max - Torn

20 Harry Styles - Watermelon Sugar

22 Alec Benjamin - Jesus In LA

25 Isac Elliot - Waiting Game

27 Selena Gomez - Lose You to Love Me

29 Oscar Enestad - Sign of My Love

31 Katy Perry - Never Really Over I ADORE this, it deserved so much better than No.12 in the UK

32 The Chainsmokers & 5 Seconds of Summer - Who Do You Love

37 Ariana Grande - 7 rings

42 Ed Sheeran feat. Camila Cabello & Cardi B - South of the Border

44 Taylor Swift feat. Shawn Mendes - Lover

45 Rita Ora feat. 6LACK - Only Want You

46 Taylor Swift feat. Brendon Urie - ME!

47 Dominic Fike - 3 Nights

48 Shawn Mendes - If I Can't Have You

50 Madison Beer feat. Offset - Hurts Like Hell

Great chart, I need to check out three or four albums I haven't heard to hear most of the rest of your top 50!

Decade: Top 10 Artists

uksDcSK.jpg

1 One Direction + Harry Styles

2 Justin Bieber

3 Ulrik Munther

4 The Saturdays

5 Troye Sivan

6 The Vamps

7 Cody Simpson

8 Lucie Silvas

9 Greyson Chance

10 Taylor Swift

Probably no shocks to see that #1 - I combined Harry and One Direction because Harry's solo career basically took over where they left off in my affections! Between them they defined the decade from start to finish, from X Factor in 2010 to Fine Line in December 2019. There really could be no other winner.

Many of the artists in this list are "discoveries" I made over the decade. Ulrik Munther, Troye Sivan, The Vamps, Cody Simpson and Greyson Chance - I knew who none of these people were in advance! Even Justin Bieber I was only lowkey aware of, and I was only really familiar with Love Story by Taylor.

Lucie Silvas on the other hand really dominated the first few years of the decade, through hype for her much-delayed third album. It finally came in 2015, and a fourth album followed in 2018 too. Finally, The Saturdays soared in the first half of the decade, I've not stanned a girlgroup as much since they split!

91 Sara Bareilles - King of Anything | 2010 | EOY Peak: xx

92 Ellie Goulding - Guns and Horses | 2010 | EOY Peak: xx

93 Kesha - Praying | 2017 | EOY Peak: 8

94 Lil Xan & Charli XCX - Moonlight | 2018 | EOY Peak: 7

95 Bodin - So Good | 2019 | EOY Peak: 9

96 One Direction - Best Song Ever | 2013 | EOY Peak: 9

97 Haley Reinhart - Free | 2012 | EOY Peak: 13

98 Isac Elliot - New Way Home | 2013 | EOY Peak: 14

99 The Vamps - Last Night | 2014 | EOY Peak: 10

100 Why Don't We - Talk | 2018 | EOY Peak: 9

Boyband central in this section! Why Don't We and The Vamps sneak into the top 100, and One Direction's 2013 smash hit also features here. There's also breakthrough hits for Isac Elliot, Haley Reinhart and Bodin, as well as the very underrated King of Anything by one-hit-wonder Sara Bareilles. Kesha's gorgeous Praying is at #93, just one place above rapper Lil Xan's highest entry.
