I'm pretty sure someone said they won't be allowed to promote new music on the show as it would be unfair to other record labels, something similar to Syco not being allowed to just use X-Factor to promote their own artists. I think they're allowed to do covers and their old material?

If they wanna promote their current material they have to involve it within the context of the show. So like, Kylie could only sing Into the Blue on the Voice with her contestants. So I’m guessing any promotion for Confetti we get using The Search is going to be coupled with the contestants.

Although I would love them to delve into their back catalogue and give us performances of songs we haven’t had yet.

I don't think that's true though - they have times the release of this album to be around the same time for a reason. (Delayed the album when The Search was delayed etc). For the last time they have already said they're singing songs from the new album on every live show.

Even Strictly contestants have been able to promote new music on their live shows.

Now up to #25 on Amazon best sellers (all genres) and #11 on Pop.

Great! Ahead of Sam Smith now too just for context.

you are allowed to promote on bbc. they even have people plugging their stuff on ‘pointless’. i mean, graham norton doesn’t get up with the artists each week does he? what context is that used in if that was the case?

it’s also rubbish about syco artists performing on the x factor. that’s on itv, they can do what they like. the only reason they didn’t have syco acts on each week is because, besides little mix at the time, they didn’t have a roster of acts that people would want to see.

I don't think any of that is true? What about one off specials where an artist will perform a whole current album?

Little Mix surely can just perform what they like as it's their own show?

What's all this about not being fair to other labels? Is releasing 6492394 different versions of a single, reducing albums so low to try and get #1's or exploit fanbases fair?

I'm sure they'll perform BUS, Holiday and the new single FOR SURE alongside some oldies.

Just saw that 365 posted in the main forum that apparently LM did 7.1k preorders in the first day!

If true, that’s amazing!!

Hopefully they do more signed bundles as they’ll sell quickly, I’m sure.

Let’s hope that The Search keeps their preorders high every weeekend for the next five weeks! How much would you guess they’d do in total?

I don't remember if someone already talked about these, but

Did you notice this? Could this be a hint of some lyrics or title track?

And yup, Zara has lately been talking about the girls a lot, some months ago she said they have a song together but she had to decide whether to include it on her forthcoming album or not... Maybe it is on Confetti?

Is that from itunes or does that total include everything?

Thats very high! I might have underestimated their first week total..

Are their sales usually frontloaded or do they sell well during release week too?

Also I’ve read that a second lockdown in the UK is imminent, wouldn’t that affect their sales a lot? And would that get in the way of their promo?

Edited by caseclosed

It's from everything. Yes it will be very front-loaded of course, but it's still a very strong start. LM5 did about 19k I think? I am definitely seeing this outdoing LM5's opening sales tbh.

Thats a very good start. Im impressed!

What are we expecting for first week sales then. LM5 did 57k right?

I think they can clear 65k first week

They will be everywhere and the buzz will be high +they’ll effectively have a pre order sales boost every weekend the search is on.

That stuff about promoting on BBC is rubbish

Yes, they can't say where you can stream or buy it from but they can tell us they have a new song and album coming out etc..

That pre-order number seems v good! But I've never seen any other first day pre-orders so I can't compare aha. But a lot of acts dont even get that in their first week nowadays. So v promising. I really hope this out performs LM5's first week sales.

When they say first day pre-orders though, is that the UK figure or worldwide because a lot of people outside the UK were buying bundles and albums from the official store!
They've added the deluxe version to amazon now - it's not titled correctly yet though. The standard is now down the 35 while the deluxe is in at 75.

Total - same sign Kylie who has reportedly done 15.8k pre-orders, 50% of which could be to outside of the UK - the same for LM.

But sales from their official store which ship from the UK to other countries don’t count for the UK charts? That wouldn’t make that much sense to me. It’s the same as if I bought from the HMV in London and came back to Brazil with the vinyl.

Nope - only items shipped to a UK address count hence why there is always such disparity when a limited edition of say 3,000 are released and sell out and only 1,700 have counted towards its chart position.

Totally agree on your point but if you buy something from a shop and export it they have no way of checking however if you buy online and ship to an address outside of the UK they do. So many ‘lost’ sales for all artists due to this hence why you see a lot of ‘UK Only Exclusives’ now to ensure all copies count as they can only be bought/sent to the UK.
