We begin a two-way tie for #40 with my favourite Xmas song in 'Fairytale of New York' making its second apperance in my EOY Top40 last time was in 2017. We also have an apperance from Wiley, Sean Paul, Stefflon Dan and Idris Elba with 'Boasty'.

39TH:

RITON X OLIVER HELDENS FT VULA- TURN ME ON

124PTS

At #39, we have this tune from Riton and Oliver Heldens featuring Vula. Enjoyed listening to this trhoughout the autmumn this sampling Yazoo's 'Don't Go'.

Boasty was such an unexpected chart hit but I really loved it! Such a shame it missed the Top 10 :( Great to see Riton get another chart hit as well, even if the sample was VERY surprising on first listen.

An OLD Christmas song top 40 of the year? :o

Turn Me On is so good, I love that sample and I think it will be in my top 25 of 2019.

Working in retail during the Christmas period in 2014 definitely killed my enthusiasm for Christmas songs for a few years  but it's just about cooled off in recent times, so I appreciate classics like 'Fairytale Of New York' once again. The instrumentation alone makes me feel warm.

Wiley getting back into the chart with a hand from Idris Elba was an unexpected moment *.* a banger that deserved a bit better than #11 officially!

The Basement Jaxx fangirl in me very much appreciates Vula being back in the chart. The sample is very obvious but it's a ridiculously feel-good song, I do enjoy it.

Hey Mack!

So far, all 3 songs are great!

Never saw a tie in any Year-end list ever, so that's a first!

"Fairytale In New York" is a great christmas song, something that we in Germany, never played it on the radio aside from the older radio stations that play this.

"Boasty" is the first and so far only grime song that manages to hit #1 in my chart. And I still stand by it, it's a fantastic song. I never thought that Idris Elba would have great bars, but he did and I liked it!

"Turn Me On" is another fantastic song, really enjoyed it and the sample is perfectly used. Since I haven't listened to "Don't Go" yet.

Great list so far!

36TH:

LIL TECCA- RANSOM

140PTS

Next, we have this from 17 year old US rapper Lil Tecca. Just worked well this from him. Probably will be a one-hit wonder but we'll wait and see what haapens there for him in 2020.

Location was nice to start with although it definitely suffered from overexposure in the charts for me! Ransom is actually quite catchy as well, one of the better of the US rap songs about.
I wish Thiago Silva had the same Location success in the UK charts. :( So much better imo.

34TH:

ED SHEERAN FT CAMILA CABELLO & CARDI B- SOUTH OF THE BORDER

142PTS

Next a first appearance in this countdown from Ed Sheeran. This featuring Camila Cabello and Cardi B. It was better than 'I Don't Care' for me which doesn't feature in this countdown. Enjoyed most from No.6 Collaborations Project from the 'Man City' of the UK Charts which I referred to him once. An only appearance from Camila Cabello in this countdown. And for the second year in a row, Cardi B makes an appearance.

Well I enjoyed 'Location' for most of the year but yes it did get overplayed.

'Ransom' really enjoyed this from Lil Tecca.

Yes, I liked Thaigo Silva as well, shame it didn't have the same success as 'Location' in the UK Charts.

Thanks for commenting, Pete and Jason. :). Much appreciated.

ARIZONA ZERVAS- ROXANNE

146PTS

This was such a tune of November/December for me. This about sneaks into this countdown. Really enjoyed this from rapper Arizona Zervas. A song that I couldn't get out of my head. It may be here again next year but we'll have to wait and see.

LIL NAS X- PANINI

146PTS

Next an appearance from Lil Nas X. His other song is bound to feature in this countdown. But we have the follow-up to that song which is 'Panini'. This was a great follow-up from him and one of the music videos of the year for me. Really enjoy the video. I hope there will be more from him in 2020. As both of his songs were great. Another one was even better.

31ST:

ENDOR- PUMP IT UP

148PTS

So in 2004, there was a UK #11 hit for one-hit wonder Danzel with the same title.

.

Rediscovered it in 2018 and thought what a tune this was.

Twelve months later, Endor remixs it and becomes my dance tune of the winter. Although I may be the minority over what I think of this. I thought this was such a tune and a great remix of the original. Discovered this on the Dance forum so thanks JOTA for discovering this for me.
