what a race! Great for Perez, totally deserved it, will really be a shame if he doesn't have a seat next year

on the start, I thought it was 100% Leclerq's fault, lately a bit disappointed in him, some good races but some blatant errors too

and poor Russell, he had double bad luck today but showed he's a million times better than Bottas

he was crazy good at passing cars, which is Bottas worst point

never seen a worst driver than Bottas, especially when he couldn't pass Stroll and then Sanz passed him and he lost it

seriously kick him out, doesn't deserve his seat, at least now the whole world has seen it...

I'm no fan of Bottas and don't rate him but that is a bit harsh. Anyone would have struggled on tyres that old against fresh rubber and a driver in the fastest car on the circuit. Everyone behind Bottas also had new tyres on.

It's worth remembering the before the safety car came out Bottas had brought the gap to Russell down from 8.4 seconds to 5.1 and was posting successive fastest laps. Unfortunately Sky were too busy working themselves up over other issues to highlight it.

Thought I'd watch the highlights on Ch4 - I'd forgotten how poor it is. Coulthard had no idea why there was a full safety car and hasn't appeared to notice that Mercedes put the same tyres back on Bottas' car.

I mean Sky's Crofty is bad enough but at least Brundle is awake to this stuff. Awful coverage by Ch4

Im just happy that Ocon finally showed his worth and promise and grabbed us our best finish since the good years under Lotus. Second, and Renault powering all three of the legitimate and legal podium places. Think we can truly say now that the Renault Engine is up to snuff.

Absolutely gutting for George of course but the bigger picture is he shows the world he's the real deal and a ready made replacement for Lewis if that day should arrive. ideally we'd see Lewis & George together at Merc in 2022 as Bottas has well and truly been shown up now. What a diabolical end to the season he's having. Unlucky with the tyres yes but you're in a Merc and you have absolutely no ability to pass cars. Gotta love that Netflix were with Merc again this weekend, there couldn't be any more parallels to Germany last year with the botched pit stops could there?

I must say though, as sad as it was for George he should have a sparkling future. I am OVER THE MOON for Perez in what might be his penultimate race in the sport. To come back from 18th after lap 1 (100% Leclerc's fault that lap 1 crash imo) and take victory is outstanding and puts the icing on what has been his greatest season to date. Everything crossed he's back in 2022 but F1 is a cruel business sometimes.

Stroll in third again but also had a great chance to win. I personally think the debate shouldn't be about whether Stroll deserves the seat over Perez but rather whether Vettel deserves it. Washed up & finished imo but let's see how competitive the car is next season...

Another brilliant, enthralling race to add to the 2020 season. You know, I'm cautiously optimistic we might even get a good race at Abu Dhabi :o

reading the Italian sports papers is always fun

was surprised they all want Russell in Mercedes next season but not replacing Bottas, they want him to replace Hamilton

they all concur Hamilton doesn't deserve the salary he's asking for and Russell would do the same job much cheaper :D

Gutted for Russell. Surely Bottas won’t stay at a top team for many more seasons.

Happy for Perez - would love him to have a drive for next year but want Hulkenberg in a seat more!

It's interesting how this reflects on Hamilton heavily.

After his brilliant drive in Turkey and his largely intelligent and error free driving this year I'd begun considering him as good as Prost, this was after many years of feeling he's hugely overrated. Brilliant but flattered by great cars and mostly ordinary teammates. Now, after seeing what someone else can do in that car I've revised him back down slightly.

Russell's performance against Bottas was almost exactly as superior to that which Lewis delivers most weekends and no matter how strong George is, Occam's Razor suggests that rather than George be equivalent to one of the greatest drivers ever, it's more likely that Lewis isn't as superior as many would like to believe. There are clearly a significant number of drivers on the grid who, in that car and with Bottas or Rosberg as teammate, could have achieved what Lewis has.

Just think if Lewis had said no to Niki Lauda about joining Mercedes, and second choice Hulkenberg had been signed, he could have four or five titles.

Fancy some wild speculation?

Valtteri Bottas has removed all mention of Mercedes from his insta profile (not posts)

And...

George Russell has removed the Williams team name from his.

I expect this is nothing but is definitely odd.

No smoke without fire!

I'd be totally up for Lewis/George pairing next season as unlikely as that still is.

According to Will Buxton there is ‘heavyweight chatter’ around Perez. He is expecting it to be the main story by Friday

We could be looking at a Russell/Bottas pairing. After all there is actually a vacancy at Merc right now and it’s not Bottas‘ one.

Perez to Red Bull must be on by now. Albon is dreadful it’s time to Flush.

I'm not sure what to make of the Mazepin story. I've seen the clip and it isn't conclusive without seeing the bigger picture. Maybe it isn't as black and white as headlines are making out. Most are ignoring this from the lady in question.-

Andrea D’lval, who was identified as the woman in the video, said in a social media post that: “Nikita and I have been good friends for a long time and nothing from that video was serious at all.

“We trust each other so much and this was a silly way of joking between us. I posted this video on his story as an internal joke. I am truly sorry. I can give you my word he’s really a good person and he would never do anything to hurt or humiliate me.”

Whilst I don't believe Lewis is the greatest driver ever, I also don't believe he's had to push himself at all this year. He's often seemed to just be coasting along to me. It would definitely be interesting to see him up against another partner at Mercedes though as, considering the car's performance, Bottas is definitely massively underperforming in it and has been for a long time now.

I just completely question what he was thinking of when posting it, even if it was just two friends messing about with how on earth could someone not foresee how it might look and the reaction could cause. As I don't really follow the sport below F1 he's not someone I've been aware of until his drive was announced, but certainly seems like a highly questionable character with a considerable list of controversies and misdemeanours for someone so young.

Allegedly, they didn’t follow each other on Insta until after the fact. Stinks of payoff.

He has quite a history of running his mouth and saying offensive things. He’s only here because daddy has money and with Stroll we already have more than our fill of over entitled rich trust fund no talent babies.

If this brings down Mazepins career in F1 it will be a bullet dodged for the sport

Abu Dhabi=

£800m or so budget for the whole development on a blank sheet of paper, and they come up with this circuit equivalent of a turd.
