In order to cut travel costs and risks there are realistically 2 circuits in Germany that could host a race, Hockenheim and Nurburging and 4 in Italy - Imola, Monza and however unlikely to happen, Fiorano and Mugello. There are also 4 in Spain that could host a race and one in Portugal.

Personally of the Grade 1 circuits, I'd like to see Finland's Kymi Ring, Imola, Sepang and Hockenheim.

I've seen Portimao in Portugal touted quite alot, I could see them taking that up. It's only just been afforded Grade 1 status - could this be the reason why?

I'm not surprised about Vettel at all. Not the first time someone has come into his team and kicked his ass in their first season prompting him to jump rather than get pushed. Read about a salary/term dispute but I think the writing was on the wall here. Time to retire I think!

Not a surprise really, now who for the Ferrari drive for next year?

Could be:

Carlos Sainz Jr

Daniel Ricciardo

Any other contenders?

Can't see any other realistic options other than those 2. Some rumours of Alonso possibly rejoining but I highly doubt that will happen.

I'd like to see Ricciardo in the Ferrari. With Vettel to Mercedes and Bottas to Renault.

Only the first part of that statement is remotely likely but imagine a 5 way title fight between Hamilton, Vettel, Verstappen, Ricciardo and Leclerc...

Ricciardo is getting into a habit of following Sainz around! Maybe he'll get the Ferrari drive eventually

Wonder if this means Vettel will go to Renault so we just have a 3-way musical chair situation? I'd like to see George Russell promoted to Mercedes then Bottas vill the vacant Renault seat.

That rumour seems to have gathered pace overnight. If Sainz does get the seat at Ferrari I'm not sure Ricciardo is a gimme at McLaren. Vettel is the wild card here. Early rumours put him in line for McLaren and now Mercedes are talking about their options too. I don't see Lewis moving and I can't picture Vettel at Renault at all.

If Ricciardo to McLaren is true it has to Vettel at Mercedes or retire surely?

There's no way Vettel will go to Mercedes and have his ass slapped all year by Hamilton. Could you imagine a "Sebastian, it's James" radio message? I too can't see Vettel at Renault so maybe he will call it a day. His comments about "the wider world" or whatever it was might add up that his hearts just not in F1 anymore.

Of course 2021 should have been the big shake-up 2009 style so we may have seen midtable teams come to the forefront but now that's been postponed, drivers will be more immediate thinking imo.

I agree Hamilton would spank him but Vettel believes he's the better driver. I doubt they will but if Mercedes made the offer he'd take it.

Maybe Renault would use one of their junior drivers if they couldn't get Vettel or Alonso. I think Sainz Jr may be the number two driver for Ferrari..
Well I read a rumour that when Aston Martin take over the Racing Point team he is a consideration. But I don't think he deserves a top team seat myself & can't see him returning to Renault.
Pure raging, this is like Alonso and 2005 all over again. He ain’t ever gonna be world champ in a customer car
Unless Vettel somehow ends up in a Mercedes alongside Bottas, his World Champion days are long behind him

wow so many announcements out of the blue

never thought Sainz would climb to Ferrari so far but totally deserved, really think he's the best pilot in F1 at the moment

the only option for Vettel is Renault, either that or retire

wonder if Alonso could end up at Renault?

Formula 1 says it would be unable to hold a British Grand Prix if personnel are not given exemptions from plans to quarantine international travellers.

The UK government will "soon" impose a requirement on all arrivals from abroad to self-isolate for 14 days.

An F1 spokesman said: "A 14-day quarantine would make it impossible to have a British Grand Prix this year.

"Additionally, it has a major impact on literally tens of thousands of jobs linked to F1 and supply chains."
