This whole weekend has been very Neo-fascist the way the doctors all came out for the press conference and all!

Just the weekend? Try the last 4 years.

I honestly can't believe what we have just witnessed with Trump and how he handled the virus. I mean Boris and this current crop of Tories are bad and I know both leaders got covid.. but that's just about where the comparisons end. You just know his media team will have thought it's a great idea for him to do this. Wholly irresponsible and damn right stupid.

Trump's latest Tweet.

"Flu season is coming up! Many people every year, sometimes over 100,000, and despite the Vaccine, die from the Flu. Are we going to close down our Country? No, we have learned to live with it, just like we are learning to live with Covid, in most populations far less lethal!!!"

Also The White House Gift Shop* has started taking pre-orders for a “President Donald J. Trump Defeats COVID” commemorative coin (seriously - this is genuine!).

"Last in a series of coins marking moments in Trump’s first presidential term, the coin celebrates his “ascendance over and personal defeat of the deadly COVID pandemic virus”, the gift shop website said.

The coin is priced at $100. There is no photograph of the coin on the website.

The design of the coin was informed by superhero graphic art, Anthony Giannini, the creator of the series and CEO of the gift shop, said in a statement on the webpage.

“Like it or not, President Donald J. Trump is strong to a mythic level,” his statement reads, and goes on to say the design of the coin has been intentionally concealed until its release."

If he does lose I wonder if they'll sell them all off cheap then. Some Biden mugs and T-shirts there too.

I sort of worry that IF Biden does get in, all the troubles arising from Covid get shoved on the Democrats as being their fault, benefiting the Republicans in the long run.

But isn't that the opposite of what usually happens?

When there is a recession/fuck up at the point of taking over you batter the previous administration for the next decade (see: Coalition government v Labour and the GFC of 2008) saying 'we inhereted' ad infitum.

However, when your predecessor leaves you with a great economy - you take the credit for it (see: Trump 2016-2020 v Obama's buoyant mid-2010s American economy, or Blair in 1997 v Major 1992-1997 slow but steady recovery)

The president finds yet another way to profit from something that kills people. Just a boring Tuesday in America.

Republicans can never resist a double standard so I fully believe they will be gladly pushing that narrative with all of their might.

Trump is already trying to blame all the problems in the country under his own watch on the Democrats. It's a matter of Americans being smart enough to not fall for it.
It's a matter of Americans being smart enough to not fall for it.

America is f***ed then.

The Republican base may well to a man believe by 2024 that the COVID pandemic and the recession started under Biden's presidency. We've never seen this much polarisation and delusion in a political party.

Biden's going to need to be ruthless in stamping this out but that is not a quality I ascribe to him or most non-Progressive Democrats for that matter.

and at the same time

this is absolutely despicable and will probably cause many people to spend the next month with literally zero money. better f***ing sink him even further in the polls.

Sorry, yes this is what I meant!

If it was the other way round, Republicans would portray themselves as saviours but you just know they’re going to force all the blame on Democrats as there is still a lot of economic fallout still to follow.

I can see the same happening here. The Tories will do little or nothing to reduce the debt piled up this year (on top of that piled up by the Tories since 2010) and then blame a Labour-led government (if there is one after the next election) for increasing taxes.

Joe Biden has reportedly said that if Trump's still testing positive for Covid and/or showing any symptoms the day before the next debate next Thursday, 15th, then it should not go ahead and he wouldn't be happy taking part. Trump however says it should go ahead whatever and he's looking forward to it.

Tonight what's being called the most important Vice-Presidential debate ever takes place between Mike Pence and Kamala Harris. Live on Sky News and BBC News Channel at 2am UK time.

I think at this stage Biden would very clearly welcome no more debates, he’s 9/10 points up (on average) and winning nearly every swing state according to polls, but if Trump does test positive they should do a digital debate rather than cancel it.
