I can't say I'm very well aware of how big Courteeners' fanbase has been throughout their history but I guess that must be the case for them to have been able to weather the downwards trend of album sales! It's just that there surely can't be many other similar bands, or really artists in general, who've had a similar trajectory to them.

 

Caveat to that is that this last studio album by them was their only album to date released in Q4. But yeah, I may well be underselling them as having looked it up they actually had a quite significantly higher first week sale than that last Bombay Bicycle Club album (24.8k, despite only debuting at #4) and they even did 12k in April 2018 with what was essentially a remix album. Interested to see what the midweeks say next week I guess...

For what it's worth, #moreagainforever has been trending in the UK this evening on Twitter. Will definitely be interesting - I'm looking forward to listening to both of them.
