Selenas about where I expected her to be on update one. I had her down as managing to get her first top ten album with Rare but I was never expecting anything anywhere near to #1 she’s not an albums artist over here at all.

She’ll easily stay top ten though which is good for her. Was just thinking there it’s pretty unusual for an artist who’s primarily pop to get their first top ten album like a decade into their career they usually go the opposite way.

Have (m)any songs sung in the Welsh language made the UK singles chart before? There's none I can think of off the top of my head - I thought that Super Furry Animals might have as many of their songs are sung in Welsh, but it looks like all their charting songs were in English (also - they have a lot more charting singles that I thought - 21 of them!).

I thought that Gorky's Zygotic Mynci might have done it, alas not it seems.

They did have (English language) singles that peaked at #41, #42 and #43, and never went higher than 41.

Ysbeidiau Heulog was a Top 100 hit for the Super Furry Animals in 2000 (despite a limited 7" only release):

Patio Song by Gorky's Zygotic Mynci (number 41 in 1996) contains both English and Welsh lyrics. It switches at about 1:40:

but I'm sure Super furry animals have a song in Welsh go top 100, from that album called Mwng?

EDIT: Ysbeidiau heulog peaked at #81

hehe you beat me to it :)

So Gorkys had songs peaking at #41, #42 & #43 but never Top 40, while the Furrys had songs peaking at #11, #12 & #13 but never Top 10. Cursed?
Rod stewart still top 10 is good, and nice to see dermot Kennedy rebounding in the albums and new single climbing aswell.

Selena's album sales seem to be holding up quite well, she's actually pulling ahead of Ed in this update - still a decent chance she could hold onto top 5 then which would be a great result for her. On the other hand, Easy Life selling only ~100 units yesterday from 5k in the first mids seems... unusually heavily frontloaded even by recent standards? They've still done very well to be so high in the midweeks in the first place but they'll probably end up 'only' low top 10 at that rate.

Good to see Future/Drake and Roddy Ricch have gone back up again in this update ('Life Is Good' looking like it could climb to #4 or even to #2 at a push?)

Selena Gomez should be secure to take a Top 4 position.

I hope Dermot Kennedy's Power of Me can retain its Top 40 position.

They've a pretty big live following and have done 10 in stores this week. The ones at Rough Trade in Nottingham sold out in 2 and 10 minutes, I've been to a sell out there - capacity must be at least 250 so a massive chunk of their sales will have been from that.

It isn't top 40, it's Outnumbered

Do you know if they have any more planned for the rest of the week?

Yeah 3 of them are still to come, but they work as pre-orders so not likely to add many more sales, one of the London one's is already sold out.

I'm seeing Georgia at one but it's not until next week, but will still have counted to this week's chart. You pre-order the album and get to attend their gig and signing, took the money for it last Friday.

seems like a good strategy to get some sales

Ahh I see. I presume they would still sign the album and send it out if you were for whatever reason not able to attend the gig/signing then?
