As it's been a while, please remember to use the correct pronouns when referring to Sam. Thank youuu.

I believe they're making some "important changes" to the album. I assume they mean that 'To Die For' will be either renamed or scrapped from the album and I think they'll end up doing new tracks for some tracks that they probably had recorded but found the tracks to be just as unsuitable for example.

It's a shame they have decided to push the album back, and make some changes. I had a feeling it was going to be really strong. Fingers crossed that's still the case after the changes.
Hoping they take note that DWAS and How Do You Sleep done a bit better than To Die For and include more upbeat tracks rather than ballads as I'm finding them A LOT better from Sam
but doesn't mean the whole project is scrapped, they'll probably kick a couple songs out and add a few

It’s only back 5 weeks. It’ll just be a title change

EDIT: Ignore me I’ve just seen their social media post

I find this current oversensitivity about song/album titles (with the songs being dropped from the R1 playlist, Powfu's song being renamed and now this) a little bit silly tbh. People die all the time, it's never stopped artists from releasing things with death in the title before despite it being something that's statistically guaranteed to be somewhat insensitive/uncomfortable to quite a lot of people at any given time. 'To Die For' isn't even about death, it's literally just a cliché about love  (sensitivity about 'death bed' makes a little more sense as it's more directly relatable to the current crisis but even so, it should surely be obvious that it's not meant to have anything to do with coronavirus, it's like when Kesha's 'Die Young' was removed from US radio rotation, sure it's a little bit unfortunate but it's just a song).
Why do I have a feeling that they'll scrap To Die For because it's another Sam ballad and that's not the vibe they want to go for this time?
I mean, if it wasn't the vibe they wanted to go for they wouldn't have released the song in the first place. :P I think the only reason it'd get scrapped is due to the references to dying, which like Bré said are minimal and not even the main subject matter of the song.

I couldn't have said it better myself. Although, I get the censorship/banning of Die Young because the tone and lyrics of the song were just so inappropriate for such a tragedy.

Edit: Sorry edited my previous post. I can still be a bit thoughtless when referring to Sam.

If Sam can’t think of an album title, they should just name it after one of the songs on their album

Totally agreed tbh

I also question myself, do people really be like 'I would listen to they song/album but it says 'Die' on a title and right now it's not a proper time to listen to they song'?!

I imagine the backlash they might face could be insurmountable though, especially if by early May the pandemic has worsened significantly.

The initial pushback to a release date of 5th June occurred on 17th March. 17th March is 6 weeks before the original 1st May release date; I wonder if the physical formats had already been pressed by then, or if they changed their plans to 5th June before production went ahead.

If the physicals are in existence already... what a waste! 🤭 Hopefully the decision to delay to an unspecified date means that they altered plans before physical copies were going to be pressed.

I agree that the assumed sensitivity towards the ‘To Die For’ title is a bit much, but I suppose Sam erring on the side of caution is for the best. I wonder if the To Die For song will be scrapped from the track list too? A shame if so. For me it’s by far their best ballad!

It was never said that the album was going to be rerecorded or new songs were going to be added, idk why there are so many waterworks and claims of scrapping in various music forums. The album is being retitled because the name feels inappropriate atm, and it's likely being delayed due to fears this won't roll over in time. That or there's work needed to go through with a name change (such as repackaging albums, if a tour was scheduled they'd probably need to go through a process of trying to readvertise, and a whole hoop full of PR meetings). I feel like the new release date will likely be fairly close to the June 5th release date because I doubt they'd push it much further than that. Everyone has to keep in mind that the album was originally scheduled to come out very close to now, and was only pushed back due to covid, meaning the album is for sure done and finalized, doubt they'd just scrap that.

The album still listed with the June 5th date in ITunes, Amazon, Apple Music and other music selling outlets... keep In mind Sam never publicly announced the June 5th date, it was found out by people on ITunes, It’s very likely this is Sam’s new release date that was already revealed...

"I have come to the decision to continue working on the album and make some important changes and additions" seems to imply that the track list they'd originally settled on won't end up being what we'll get (but seeing as a track list was never revealed it might end up being impossible to ascertain what changes were made, hmm). The title being scrapped & the release date becoming a TBA situation, was mentioned separately to 'important changes and additions' - surely that can only be in reference to the songs?

"There will be an album this year, I promise! But until then I am still going to bring out some new music over the next few months" doesn't make the album seem like it would arrive as imminently as 2 months from now, but we can only wait and see!

It seems to me the changes are the title & release date.

Because Why scrap songs when the album is already 2B streams on Spotify, while also 800k Riaa units already sold (Pre-Release) and the statements is very vague but many are going with their assumptions, it’s very likely they have June 5th release date on hold just in case they might have to push even farther since this virus hasn’t peaked yet.

I’m pretty sure the tracklist is staying the same.
