Yes. And it still doesn’t make sense to me... Scraping songs takes to much time and there’s no reason.

Scrapping the whole project when all the CDs, Vinyl, Cassettes etc., have already been produced is madness. Sam and the label obviously see the timing of the album as a huge risk and the lack of success (for Sam’s standards) of the new single too has obviously bothered them enough.

But the album is an success, the single flopped because various radio stations took it down because of obvious reasons...

What a mess. To be fair though the original album title was crap. As for the song itself, I can only take ballad Sam in small doses and this veers towards pathetic whining. It just plods on and on and gets boring very quickly. The 'yearning for love' idea is fine and all but the end result doesn't do it for me. Much prefer I'm Not the Only One out of their ballads.

Agree with every word

Well it’s literally come from the horse’s mouth that the album will have changes & additions, so... whether that makes sense to you or not, it’s happening!

Maybe couple songs perhaps but the entire album.. tho, not happening

But regardless.. let’s see what happens

"I have come to the decision to continue working on the album and make some important changes and additions" seems to imply that the track list they'd originally settled on won't end up being what we'll get (but seeing as a track list was never revealed it might end up being impossible to ascertain what changes were made, hmm). The title being scrapped & the release date becoming a TBA situation, was mentioned separately to 'important changes and additions' - surely that can only be in reference to the songs?

"There will be an album this year, I promise! But until then I am still going to bring out some new music over the next few months" doesn't make the album seem like it would arrive as imminently as 2 months from now, but we can only wait and see!

I know a person who’s been invited to that closed album listening event and she’ll tell me, after the album’s released, if and how does it vary from the original one. I’ll tell you all after the album’s released ^_^

for me it makes perfect sense that they wanna change things, its the same with Gaga

some songs change meaning under the current circumstances

like To Die For, when they were singing it before it had a genera abstract meaning

but not it's very literal and probably the songwriter doesn't feel the same connection to the song anymore

Thank you! Welcome to the forum by the way :cheer:

It won’t be much different...

Smith also spoke about their recent decision to not only postpone, but rename their upcoming third studio album (originally titled To Die For). Smith told Lowe that the decision to make those changes "hasn't been challenging," and that they may make even more changes to the final product.

"I don't even know if I'm going to put 'Dancing With a Stranger' on there, and 'How Do You Sleep' and 'To Die For,'" they said. "I think might take them off and do something completely fresh and it'll be a completely new album."

 What an odd move to take the big hits off, I think the lack of success In comparison to Sam’s usual levels of ‘Too Die For’ along with the current situation made them rethink the whole project? An expensive move as physicals had been pressed etc.,

Could it be the case that physicals weren’t pressed? The May 1st date was delayed to June 5th on March 17th. Perhaps that was around the time that the pressings were going to take place, and the initial delay was to buy them some time? Then on March 30th it was delayed indefinitely. So they might have avoided having to scrap physicals. Or is there evidence that physicals exist?

If they were pressed, it would be incredibly costly for the label to scrap 3 (or was it 4?) variants of a vinyl. Burning money, to then have to print a second version of an album that might be a downturn in the commercial success Sam was previously used to... would be a very risky move from their label!

‘To Die For’ as it was originally conceived is beginning to feel like it’s going to become Sam’s “lost album”!

All except three posts on Sam’s instagram have been hidden (they probably will come back later). Those three posts likely mean 3 days left (from now to friday) until the album’s announcement on the 22nd. We’ll see tomorrow if im right :)

The album’s probably coming late June.

I don't mind Sam going away to rework the album, but I hope they stay true to their recent sound because songs like 'Dancing With A Stranger' and 'How Do You Sleep?' are so good.
