Well she better get used to it because HMV will close down it’s just a matter of time.

It’s all about ordering online and streaming

I think they really have to rely on online sales as it will get harder and harder to get cds when out shopping on the high streets.

Yep. I think it will hurt her to be honest maybe not alot, but enough.

Friday, Saturday, Sunday shoppers...... If not open not great, especially in November when Xmas stocking fillers are starting to be bought etc

Let's hope they are

She will miss out the random christmas shopping sales ( if lockdown happens) but the core fan base will still but a copy and a couple of formats which will hold up release week, it could struggle after that, but we will have to wait and see as its a problem that many artists will experience.
But there are still a lot of music stores, HMV included that will attract buyers

If someone is out shopping and wants a CD a lot will not go home and order it and wait 3 days for it to arrive. Amazon will be frucial and the deluxe price of 14.99 is silly. They always reduce nearer time

I’m not so sure - I live in Central London and would struggle to buy a CD, my local Sainsbury’s only stock a Top 10, my local Tesco has stopped selling CDs altogether, there are a few indie stores but they don’t focus on pop releases like Kylie.

That’s why all artists are focusing so heavily on selling direct to their fan bases from their online stores to tackle the declining visibility of CDs in supermarkets and the ongoing decline of HMV.

I think Little Mix will comfortably win this battle tbh

I’m beginning to think so too - in the last week alone they have added yet another 1,000 signed CDs to Amazon, plus today announced a new signed bundle plus zoom call competition.

Look I can't say much yet but Kylie has a very good promo slot on her release date. It would be silly to release any other time.

I know she’s got one big slot but has she got other bits during the week? Like daytime stuff etc.?

I'm guessing this must be Graham Norton

There is no doubt she will have the promo lined up and it's not a bad thing she is waiting until nearer the time

However it's risky if that promo is not able to happen or more likely not able to happen as well as as it could have when not in middle of a lockdown pandemic

Plus all I am saying about lockdown is it could have affect on sales, not just talking London but loads of other places. People do stil go shopping in other cities, towns in fact some people love too etc and all those sales add up.

There is no doubt BMG will want to promote her into Xmas season so she will have things like Strictly later in Nov and some specials stuff in Dec. No body really knows how the sales are going except BMG for Kylie and RCA for Little Mix.... I am sure they will both know mostly what each is going to do marketing wise and will react accordingly.

I think I would now be happy if Kylie gets on release week

Top 2 Album

2 X top 75 songs in same week

Top of Physical singles chart

Top of Vinyl singles chart

A positive reaction to the album

Album stays top 75 until January 1st

Then create more promo in a quiet month early in year to do a maybe extended mixes album/sales promotions to keep it charting

Also some good sales globally

Little Mix are definately getting more promotion through their show and have an advantage of two hit singles. Kylie has so far done virtually no promotion. BMG & Kylie need to pull their finger out if she wants that no1 album - the fans will support her no matter what but she will need more than just fan sales to beat Little Mix. Magic and say something are great songs but both haven’t done half as well as dancing so far.

I agree they need to pull their finger out and get promotion going in some shape or form and really start plugging the album, if little mix can do signed copies so should kylie as i think it would sell, she just needs to be really in the game if she wants that very important number 1 but maybe it doesn't bother kylie as much as it does the fans.

Not sure Dancing did that much more compared to Say Something and Magic.....

Dancing made 38 on the album release week. Say Something and Magic both still have those opportunities and she hasn't performed any yet on TV....

I think Disco will be better recieved than Golden 100% but it does need the promo slots.

I am sure she has G Norton, One Show, J Ross, Strictly etc all lined up plus maybe a Kylie Disco TV Special. It's just I hope these have comtingencies in case of lockdown so either via cam etc or isolated interviews etc

She has some good pre orders now it's for the promo when the album is out etc. If you think she has done a few things. Released the vinyl singles with a Disco download at a reduced price etc. She has Magic A listed now for the next month.

I haven't a clue if other formats will come or if she is more bothered about releasing new things each week in the lead up to Xmas to keep the sales coming in when promo continues

With so many releases and big releases in November she may struggle to even stay top 10 on week 2 or and top 20 by end of November

Just look at some of the album drops this week.

Longevity is key in q4 as is promo and gimmicks.

I would imagine though Kylie on 6th Nov Graham Norton (probably filmed 3rd or 4th Nov) will be asked about the record of 5 decades so she will either look stupid if she thinks its a given lol or BMG may have a good idea if it yes or no....

Que Sera, Sera,

Whatever will be, will be

The future's not ours to see

Que Sera, Sera

:music:

Golden had amazing promotional activity that Disco won't have or even come close to.
I can see her with a big release next year if she gets to tour anytime and on a quiet week can snatch the number 1 if she doesn't on the 13th November 😜
There will be loads of opportunities throughout the decade to achieve at the least, 1 more Number 1 album.
So far, I would say that ‘say something’ and ‘magic’ are both very strong singles and if the album is of the same quality then it will be better received than golden. It would be such a crying shame if the album struggles due to the impact of covid. Kylie has clearly worked hard during lockdown. I really hope we get some promo very soon.
