I’m convinced a stricter lockdown will happen before Christmas. Whether it happens now or in a few weeks but it will certainly impact on physical album sales for Kylie and many other artists. It couldn’t have come at a worse time in Q4 when sales are highest.

The albums market will be hit very hard.

Q4 is huge for albums, the massive decline will unfortunately hit the market harder than ever.

Lockdown according to news could start this Wednesday.

Hence Kylie needs that Graham Norton filmed on Thurs.

Not sure how TV entertainment shows are deemed as essential or not? 🤔 Doubtful.

Will things like Strictly, The Voice etc continue. She can do stuff by zoom still etc.

At least she got the radio 2 thing filmed

It's happening just before Kylie release week. Haven't you seen today's news in UK.....

How many did Bruce get in streaming sales?

#15 on the album streaming chart - probably less than 1,000 equivalent sales?

2,381 streaming sales / 6,201 downloads / 43,179 physicals

2,381 streaming sales / 6,201 downloads / 43,179 physicals

I guess his Spotify streaming numbers are from some of his huge hits of the past on playlists. His current stuff maybe not as popular to get on the playlists he needs for big streaming album nm bers.

That’s pretty high for Bruce! I know he has a couple of huge streaming hits but I would have though Kylie has a wider selection of streaming hits, perhaps not as big as Bruce though. Would have thought more people are interested in streaming Kylie’s new music than Bruce though.

Yep will be interesting to see the comparison.

If indeed lockdown will happen from Wednesday then Kylie will miss out on all of HMV and Independent music shops in store purchases

I guess we have to hope all those shoppers will have an urgency to buy online after the promo. Fingers crossed.

I haven’t seen the news this evening as been working but not surprised to be honest. The timing couldn’t be worse for Kylie and other acts releasing new albums. Album sales dropped significantly during the spring lockdown.

I don’t think they were too bad for new releases. Dua and Gaga’s albums did well. Maybe afterwards with casual sales though.

I think Kylie will be fine. She’s done really well on preorders and has plenty of promo on release week, can’t see her being affected too much.

I think most people who want the physical album have already ordered it and it will be delivered to them? Huge chunk of physical products are sold during the first couple of days, regardless of the artist. Bruce got only 14k after the first set of mids. I can see him dropping to 10k for second week and very fast from there too.

Do you think all the promo will go ahead? The likes of Graham Norton might be cancelled if a stay at home order is put in place

This to be honest - I’m not convinced on the ‘casual sales’ argument anyway. HMV is sadly dying a slow death and Supermarkets have relegated CDs to a Top 5 on the bottom shelf mostly. There of course are thriving indies - not the go to places for the general public looking for a Kylie album.

The album has been on pre-order for months now and with all the bundles, exclusives and signed editions it’s had amazing exposure across HMV and Amazon.

As said acts like Dua, 5SOS etc., managed to pull in 30k+ during lockdown

Not sure how it will affect Kylie’s promo but bound to have some impact sadly. Is the Graham Norton show live or pre-recorded?

She has pre-recorded a TON of promo - her team have all bases covered for whatever might happen.

She will probably be able to pre-record this performance tbf

I think on Graham Norton at the moment from what I’ve seen some of the guest performers recently have done it via a link I know Miley definitely did. Sam Smith was in the studio itself last week but I think Kylie will be able to record hers from wherever she is in a worst case scenario situation.

G Norton is being filmed on 5th November. You can apply for tickets for audience which I think may be scrapped. Guess it is down to what the rules will be on everything when Boris does his presser on Monday

Video link promo is not as good as in studio Kylie but better than nothing. She will do fine

She has recorded some promo but big promo like Strictly, J Ross, The Voice , Children in Need etc (if she has slots on these) will not have been filmed yet so let's hope Boris allows live TV stuff to go ahead etc. The lockdown if it goes ahead could possibly not be lifted on 1st of December if everything gets worse let see.

I am not sure how anyone can say that if because of Covid-19 120 HMV stores will close that this could not impact Kylie sales which is made up of physicals. Those shops are still busy selling CDs and vinyls etc. A lot of people still go shopping in town centres at weekends and when they see promo etc. If every one of those stores lost just 50 purchases of Disco because of lockdown that's 6000 sales lost and many of those possibly would not go home and order and pay £3 postage and package for delivery.

Some of the bigger HMV stores (I am guessing) will sell a lot more than 100 copies a week of a new release so it's obvious to me it could impact her sales and quite substancially to the Saturday, Sunday shoppers

Yes she will still sell well but that doesn't mean she won't lose quite a few 1000 potential sales .... when I go to HMVs at a weekend they are very busy.

On a better note if everyone is sat at home locked down then things like TV Promo may actually get more TV viewers which would help combat that.

The more visability of Kylie and the ease of access to her physicals is crucial to her success and also next week her chart battle!

Fingers crossed Kylie fans! We can do this!
