Sometimes it can work in an artist's favour, as by Friday momentum has already started building up and it's already doing well on streaming by the weekend. It all depends on the song and artist really.
With streaming, an early release doesn’t really do any damage. Streams normally build over time rather than peak immediately (unless you are a major global artist). Downloads are unlikely to be huge for Mabel, so the streaming playlist benefits mentioned already outweigh the loss of 1-2 days sales.

Camila randomly being discounted on Sunday has helped it rise a good amount of places and it’s now #10 on iTunes.

the only reason acts release mid-week is to gain visibility, especially indie/alt acts, cos otherwise they can go unnoticed among the Friday releases
