5 years ago this became the first all-female collaboration in history to debut at #1 on the US Hot 100. History was made

I think it's worked delaying the music video slightly and having that as a separate event. It's made today even more exciting. Also the song will get the streams now and then another boost for the video!
Several listens later and I LOVE this. Takes me back to 10 years ago when pop was trashy and over-the-top and unashamedly gay.
For me 'Stupid Love' is good and a great song to get the public back on board with Pop-Ga again, but ultimately that ended up about upper mid-table in Gaga singles for me.. but this just hits different and is already her best pure pop effort since I heard 'Gypsy' on ARTPOP, for me

:cheeseblock:

Completely agree with you! Stupid Love was a lot of fun, I love it. Rain on Me feels more heartfelt and special to me... it's a moment.

Also about the length: listen to it twice and it's 6 minutes long :magic: and it doubles her streams xx

Excellent advice! UgkYHxg.gif

Ugh this is such an anthem, I'm so happy with it!  BRING ON CHROMATICA!

I told myself last night that I’d listen to the song on its own a few times before I seen the video if it was a at the same time drop. I’m glad that the release worked that it hasn’t been that. Agree that it’ll go in it’s favour ^_^

What’s people’s social media feeds like re reactions of this?

I’ve seen a lot more posted about this than I did Stupid Love on the day that came out

whew!!!!! allow me to go full pop stan for the first time in what feels like at least 5 years

Absolutely adore this!! Just makes me want to dance forever!! Love the Rain. On. Me. (drop)

I’ve seen lots posted about this on my social media too.

To maximize the streams, remember

DO NOT play it on loop.

INSTEAD, make a playlist with 2-4 other songs (Why Did You Do That, Stupid Love and Sexxx Dreams) with 2-3 Rain on Mes on it.

SEARCH for Rain on Me on streaming services to prove that you are human and not a bot.

This is so good *.* some songs take me a few plays to get into but I knew this was great upon first listen! The production is a real highlight for me and it does have both 00's house and No Tears Left To Cry vibes to it. It's very euphoric but light and airy as well as groovy and it will sound great all summer long. Not intended to be shady but it's not worlds away from something Calvin Harris/Sigala/Jax Jones would produce (particularly in the verses) which I hope will bode well for the GP getting on board.

As some others have said, I would've liked a more developed bridge and perhaps a change in sound/instrumental break or an outro (a la Marry The Night) to develop the song a bit more like we would have seen on Born This Way. However I totally get this is supposed to be 'the hit single' from this era that will determine the album's success and it needs to be as Spotify and radio friendly as possible! Clocking in at 3 mins is a wise move for repeated plays and there's no part of the song that any of R1/R2/Capital/Heart/Kiss would cut out or be turned off by which is brilliant for its promotion! I'm sure we'll get some wackier moments in the album cuts.

Ariana also sound wonderful on this - her vocals elevate the song really well and I can't really think I would want anyone else in place of her that would suit better.

I think this has already overtaken Stupid Love in my affections - that song is still brilliant and serves a purpose of introducing the world back to pop Gaga in a very palatable format but this is the next level *.*

Yes, yes, I am on a FULL postings strike until that evil band splits up. Those salty mixers never f***ing learn that buzzjack is not an echo chamber for that shit cowell band!!!! But they will NOT stop me from posting aboot this!!

Anyway, this is my last post until they split up and the salty mixers finally get those bees out their salty bonces!!!! I might log on at some point to get the link to common sense's new forum, but we'll see about that.

This is a BOP!!! Ariana works really well on it. She doesn't sound tacked on like Miley and Lana on that clown music, and she dowsn't dominatw like that clown music. Lady GaGa speaking over the top is her signature Scheise/ Bad Romance repetitive chanting made for 2020.

It's fun, brash, and euphoric, and sounds like early 00s dance like Miracle, with the big house production and uplifting lyrics. It's NOT throwaway like The Cure and doean't try to emulate anyone else, unlike The Cure. It is ostensibly GaGa. I'm glad she had a feature on it, like most Calvin songs, however, or it would have felt like it was missing something. It needs belting vocals for it to work, and so Ariana and Adele were the only options.

It might not be as good as Katy Perry's new song, oe up there with Gypsy or Edge, but what is?! This is like Scheise's sister sonf. That song should have been released as the first BTW single, so ROM will bring it justice!!

Stupid Love is middling pop, but this is a BIG BAD ASS BOP!!! Expect a no.3 in the UK. It is too pop for the USA, so expect a #17 or a #1 thanks to Ariana peak there.

Also, BUY AND STREAM RAIN ON ME RIGHT NOW ON AMAZON MUSIC, ITUNES, SPOTIFY, AND OTHER MUSICAL OUTLETS LIKE TIDAL!!

"I'd rather be dry but at least I'm alive"

I thought this was an awkward/wtf line at first but it clicked as I was listening - I've got all this horrible shit raining down on me at the minute, life isn't the best, and I'd rather things be fine (I'd rather I was 'dry'/wasn't being rained on) but you know what? I'm still here. I'm alive.

WHAT a lyric. My God.

The song is absolutely wonderful and it has truly lived up to the hype for me. It sounds absolutely HEAVENLY when you have it blasting.

What a day to be a fan. AND we still have the video to come.

#15 on Apple Music.

That’s insane, it could be top three tonight after the music video drops!

I saw a lot more people posting about 'Stupid Love' on Facebook, but I think that was because it had an accompanying video. It'll probably be the same this evening when the video for this emerges.

Twitter is a different story though, I think I follow a lot of Gaga stans.

The Independent: 4/5 - Three Minutes of Euphoric Melodrama

While it’s disappointing that something so club-ready won’t be able to live out its destiny any time soon, ‘Rain on Me’ is otherwise a theatrical and replenishing triumph

"Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande make sense together. Not only because they’re big, probably-visible-from-space pop queens, but because they’re also loudly melodramatic with it. “Rain on Me”, a tight three minutes of house euphoria, is about singing through the pain and dancing like nobody’s watching. It’s traditionally Gaga in many respects, full of broad vocal runs and camp spoken word (“Rain on me / Tsunami”, she insists, as if she’s a cyborg with a British accent). It also feels new for her. There’s a heavy dose of early Nineties dance-pop here, shades of “Rhythm Is a Dancer” or Crystal Waters, the track’s production (credited to BloodPop and BURNS) bubbling and flexing beneath her. “Stupid Love”, Chromatica’s first single, was written about as a return to form for Gaga, a glittery respite from the downbeat earnestness of her most recent albums. It was also entry-level Gaga, a track that rested comfortably rather than shooting its way into the stratosphere. “Rain on Me” feels like a step up or at least a course correction – a cool breeze, like Clean Bandit but good, and a celebration of powering through the misery. No one especially thrives in the rain, but we can at least try and make the most of it while it’s here."
