Posted April 3, 20205 yr So firstly I want to thank the 21 other participants for taking part in the final round. Secondly, I want to NOT thank whoever decided to close the voting thread and therefore prevent more people from taking part. Anyway, it has been long enough now so I'll get through these results done today & tomorrow. A quick reminder of the songs involved: Bastille - Can't Fight This Feeling Camelphat & Cristoph feat. Jem Cooke – Breathe Camila Cabello - Liar Catfish & The Bottlemen - Longshot Chainsmokers feat. 5 Second of Summer - Who Do You Love Coldplay - Orphans Dua Lipa - Swan Song George Ezra - Pretty Shining People Kygo & Rita Ora - Carry On Lil Nas X - Panini Lizzo - Juice Lizzo - Truth Hurts Mark Ronson feat. Camila Cabello – Find U Again Mark Ronson feat. Lykke Li – Late Night Feelings Martin Garrix feat. Macklemore & Patrick Stump – Summer Days Miley Cyrus - Mother's Daughter Miley Cyrus - Slide Away Niall Horan - Nice To Meet Ya Normani - Motivation Taylor Swift - Cruel Summer Taylor Swift - The Man Tiësto, Jonas Blue & Rita Ora – Ritual Zara Larsson - Don't Worry Bout Me Zedd feat. 'Liar' performed somewhat disappointingly off the back of the mammoth summer smash 'Senorita'. Bastille briefly returned to the top 40 with an 80s cover used for last year's traditional John Lewis Xmas ad. Ex-1D solo hits have become very commonplace over the past few years & Niall Horan's comeback was a modest-sized hit. Just missing the top 20 are Coldplay who prove time and time again they still have hit capacity after so many years in the business.

Miley Cyrus - Slide Away CR: 42-55-47-{40}-47-47-50-61-65->9 Score: 36 Votes: 8 +10s: 1 [Jack] Miley Cyrus is one of four acts to appear twice in this year's final. 'Slide Away' managed to scrape a solitary week in the top 40 and becomes the lowest placing track which received a 10. Also receiving a 10 and falling out are the ever-present Chainsmokers and their collaboration with boyband 5SOS. Rock group Catfish earned their first ever top 40 single back at the start of 2019 and remarkably received three 10s in this rate but that wasn't enough to prevent it from the bottom third of the results. Finishing just above is George Ezra with one of his less commercially successful singles in 'Pretty Shining People'.
April 3, 20205 yr no big losses so far, good to see. quite liked Coldplay, Bastille and Miley's tracks but not hugely essential.

'Don't Worry Bout Me' was a minor hit following the top 10 'Ruin My Life'. Martin Garrix continued his run of chart success into 2019 by enlisting the help of Macklemore & the Fall Out Boy frontman Patrick Stump. 'Summer Days' achieved a healthy chart run for its modest peak. Zedd's collaboration with Katy Perry '365' performed rather disappointingly, only scraping one week in the top 40 before tumbling heavily.

'Truth Hurts' is one of the lowest peaking UK singles to have topped the Billboard 100 in the last 10 years. Above her is the second ex-Fifth Harmony member to achieve a solo UK 40 hit in Normani. 'Motivation' finishes surprisingly low in this contest. Just missing the top 10 this year is Lil Nas X, who could have reasonably been predicted to be one of the biggest one-hit wonders of all time but followed up with a moderately-sized hit, another one to achieve an impressive run but miss the UK top 20. Which means the top 10 are: Camelphat & Cristoph feat. Jem Cooke – Breathe Dua Lipa - Swan Song Kygo & Rita Ora - Carry On Lizzo - Juice Mark Ronson feat. Camila Cabello – Find U Again Mark Ronson feat. Lykke Li – Late Night Feelings Miley Cyrus - Mother's Daughter Taylor Swift - Cruel Summer Taylor Swift - The Man Tiësto, Jonas Blue & Rita Ora – Ritual
April 3, 20205 yr I think I entirely missed the final voting thread for this oops! (and I forgot to vote in the earlier rounds anyway, sorry) The songs that would have been my top 2 here are both already out oops ('Orphans' and 'Panini'). I'm not a super huge fan of any of the remaining songs, my fave of them is probably 'Late Night Feelings' I guess so that to win.

It was a modest hit with a reasonable run within the top 30. It is also the first group winner to fall, with it winning Group A, although didn't fall quite as harshly in the final as 'Orphans' which actually tied with it on points in its group. Both of Taylor Swift's eligible songs in this contest make the top 10 & the first of which lands in 9th place. 'Cruel Summer' is the only song in this list to manage a sole week in the UK Charts due to various rules in place at the time of its entry. In 8th is forum fave Dua Lipa who, despite releasing a song not so widely lauded on here, comfortably makes the top 10. 'Swan Song' was also used in a film, namely Alita: Battle Angel.

Finishing much higher than her Miley's other entry is 'Mother's Daughter' which managed a respectable run midway through 2019. Taylor Swift bows out of the competition as her other offering 'The Man' comes home in 6th. It narrowly missed the top 20 in the week its album was released. Kicking off the top 5 is Lizzo with her first UK hit, 'Juice'. It snuck into the top 40 for a solitary week and set the platform for later successes.

Both came from his fifth studio album 'Late Night Feelings' and both just cracked the UK top 30. The title track featured relatively unknown (to the UK) singer Lykke Li and became her first appearance on the UK Chart. Following that came 'Find U Again' which featured the rather more widely-known Camila Cabello and peaked several positions higher. There was a huge gap between the top 3 and the rest however 'Find U Again' was hot on the heels of the top 2. Speaking of which the top 2 were in fact only separated by a solitary point but who will come out on top? Edited April 9, 20205 yr by Dobbo
April 9, 20205 yr Find U Again is terrible compared to Late Night Feelings. So bad that the latter finished lower. -_- Ritual ftw
April 9, 20205 yr Author DKRcqtNSP-4 2. Camelphat & Cristoph feat. Jem Cooke – Breathe CR: 62-55-41-37-38-{36}-40-47-47->9 Score: 95 Votes: 14 +10s: 3 [dan.G, jszmiles & Rush] CamelPhat just miss out on back-to-back wins here by the narrowest of margins. 'Breathe' had in fact been leading before the final 2 votes. Alas, it must settle for the runners-up spot. The track became Camelphat's 3rd top 40 single and was chart debuts for both Cristoph & Jem Cooke. It received the joint-most number of 10s here but ultimately fell short of the winning song by one point.

'Ritual' graced the chart during Summer last year and although missed the top 20, it racked up a solid eventual run. Despite receive one less 10 than 'Breathe' it received the most votes, with only 6 participants not pointing it. The closest battle we've seen in 6 editions of this but another very worthy victor!
April 9, 20205 yr well that's a great top 3, shame to see CamelPhat falling just short though, one of my absolute faves of the year. and thanks for running this again!
April 9, 20205 yr Author You're welcome. As you can probably tell my enthusiasm in running this each year is somewhat waning but it's kinda like my annual Buzzjack tradition now being the only thing I consistently personally host so I'll still plan to continue doing it.
April 10, 20205 yr Jonas Blue actually getting a #1 in something :D Thanks for organising this! My top two votes were well off the pace but I'm happy with the final top 5.
