It's great to see that Lucky has slightly risen in the collective affections of BuzzJack members, climbing 5 places to #18! This was the second single to be taken from Britney's sophomore album 'Oops!... I Did It Again', and became a major hit internationally, including #1 peaks in Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Sweden and Switzerland... taste! The UK gave it a respectable peak of #5, her sixth Top 5 hit in a row. The song tells a story about a famous movie star named Lucky, who, despite seemingly having it all – fame, wealth, beauty – is truly lonely and unhappy on the inside. It was praised by music critics, who considered its melody and rhythm as sweet and catchy, and noted the lyrics to be about Spears herself.

:neyde: Good morning America, I'm excited to tell you on Tuesday morning March 29th, I'll be performing for the first time ever in a special concert in San Francisco's historic Castro District on Good Morning America and I promise you it'll be a morning to remember. See you soon! Would you hold it against me~ :neyde:

Remember when Britney invented the dubstep genre back in 2011? She really did that... a pioneering queen! Britney sensationally broke the record for having the most agonisingly drawn out teasing of a music video, putting out a drip feed of short clips over a period of two whole weeks before it finally premiered! ( :kink: )

I should perhaps be serious for a moment and mention that this was a #1 hit in the US, and it even managed to reach #6 in the UK with its instantaneous "On Air On Sale" release, which was uncommon for the UK market back in 2011. It was the lead single from Britney's seventh studio album 'Femme Fatale'!

jakewild, what's good? :neyde:

2 amazing songs

I kinda forgot about HIAM for a period of time but lately I've been jamming it a lot...such a strong comeback single and you can tell how hungry people were for Britney when this sold 400k+ downloads on first week, I think record at a time!!!

Listening to Lucky again, I should've rated it higher. :( Probably my favourite from that era actually.

I don't get the love for HIAM though I'm glad it was a hit for her back then. I wonder where it would've peaked if it wasn't released OAOS.

Both amazing. I think that like 'Sometimes' all 'Lucky' needs is a big promo spot somewhere and I think people will really latch onto it in a huge nostalgic feeling kinda way

HIAM gets too much stick. What a comeback single. My favourite single from the FF era! The video is incredible too. THAT fight with herself scene *.*

You got the wrong single honey...if we're talking about waste of a single treatment then Radar says :hi:

THIS

But she released Radar because her fsns at the time were clamouring for it  And it's woeful!

They were "clamouring for it" during the 'Blackout' era. NOT as the 4th single from the 'Circus' era. It was released due to some contractual obligation thing iirc. They told the producers (?) that they would release it during the 'Blackout' era but that era was cut short so they extended it to the 'Circus' era or something.

HIAM is an iconic song and video and the promotion for it is I C O N I C too

Even today we remember this landmark moment:

Not even Corona can cancel this moment of HISTORY.

Without it, everything is just a blur ~ hPlwMnW.jpg

Never forget x

'Lucky' is cute but has never been a massive favourite for me!

'Hold It Against Me' isn't bad but a bit tacky, my least favourite single from that era. Dubstep in general did not age like fine wine :deadbanana:

In this batch we have a single from 'Blackout' & from her debut album! Falling two spots in this rate to #16 is Break The Ice. For me, this has just as an iconic opening as 'Gimme More' has. "It's a been a while. *choral ahh-ahh's* I know I shouldn't have kept you waiting, but I'm here now". I remember the fans being disappointed by the video at first due to it being completely animated, but over time, it's actually really gorgeous and they did what they had to do, to get this out as a single! The song was another top 20 hit for Britney, but ultimately kept the 'Blackout' era short, before returning a few months later to launch her 'Circus' era with 'Womanizer'. Such a fantastic song! The breathy and airy "hah-hah-hah"'s at the end of each chorus are sublime. Amazing.

Born To Make You Happy is up next and it has climbed a spot to #15, improving on it's last average! A song that was a massive hit in Europe, where it gave Britney her 2nd UK #1 single, despite being the 4th single from the album which had sold A LOT before hand. Idk understand how or why this wasn't released properly in the US, but I assume it was just coz the US charts have always been a lot slower? But a cute song that was always my 2nd least favourite single from the first era though. The first 3 singles > this for me.

'Break The Ice' has been my 11 in Britney rates for years until now (it's overtaken by 'Make Me'), but it remains my all-time favourite Britney song regardless I think when I consider it all.

Also 'Born To Make You Happy' is another all-time favourite. It's my favourite on the album and as far as early Britney goes, it's my #1.

So basically that is a PAIRING <3 Both deserved top 10 :'(

Born To Make You Happy is always the Britney song what passes me by especially when I think of early Britney.

It may have been a #1 but I definitely think it’s the most forgettable single in terms of its relevance today etc from early Britney.

Yeah I am a black sheep and I despise Break The Ice lol, it just never clicked with me!!!

So happy BTMYH getting top 15 :cheer: one of the purest midtempo Britney

Adore Break The Ice and Hold it Against Me.

Born to make me happy and Lucky too high imo

Born To Make You Happy

Still one of my fave singles from early Britney.

Break the Ice is def classic for me. I'm glad that it did good in UK.

[born to Make You Happy is] the most forgettable single in terms of its relevance today etc from early Britney.

:slapfight:

No way!

Lowest: jakewild (01); StupidLove (06)

So we have two quite a shocks here. Womanizer a lead/comeback single from Circus album drops 2 spots and Overprotected second single from Britney album jumps 7 spots! As I said Womanizer was comeback single and that was an comeback to remember. The single smashed the charts like everyone were hungry for some Britney. It topped many charts WW and it has become Britney modern classic. The video was an shock too were she has few naked scenes and drives the limo with her legs while making out with some dude. Worth watching.

Overprotected did quite well in Europe but strangely in US only reached like low top 100. It's probabbly due the radio ban which caused the low peak. Britney latter released second video for the song in the Darkchild Remix and daamn she killed the new choregraphy. Fun fact that the original video is going to top 100,000,000 views on youtube in a few days while Darkchild video is not uploaded on her youtube chanel. :/
