Always had a soft spot for Lawson - pleased to see they have a new deal and are working on a new album :cheer:

Cooking Vinyl signs pop-rock band Lawson

The London-based band released their last album in 2016.

Since their first release in 2012, they have secured a platinum debut album, five UK Top 10 singles, more than 50 million Spotify streams and over 100m YouTube views.

Debut album Chapman Square, released by Polydor in 2012, peaked at No.4 and has sales of 179,277, according to the Official Charts Company.

Lawson are currently back in the studio and working on a new album.

Rob Collins, Cooking Vinyl MD, said: “I met the guys late 2019 and was impressed by their vision and understanding of where they fitted in now. We just chatted for about two hours and really hit it off. The music wasn’t too bad either!”

The music industry has so many different ways to re-connect with and create fans nowadays

Andy Brown, lead singer of Lawson, said: "It feels like day one. We're very excited and can't wait to try and make the best record of our career. The music industry has so many different ways to re-connect with and create fans nowadays.”

The group’s manager, Ben Karter, added: “We really loved meeting Rob and the team at Cooking Vinyl and hearing their plans for the band. It’s an exciting new chapter for the band.”

Lawson played a sold-out Shepherd’s Bush Empire date in late 2018. They have previously sold out venues including London’s Roundhouse, Liverpool Echo arena and Manchester Apollo, as well as venues in New York, LA, Australia, Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Singapore.

I've always liked Lawson so I'm excited to hear what they come back with. I'm not holding out hope for much commercial success but I think they've always had quite a strong fanbase so maybe a Top 10 album wouldn't be out of the question?
Chapman Square remains one of my favourite albums of all time. The follow up however was poor in terms of quality so I hope this new album is along the lines of the first. Andy has such an amazing voice so looking forward to hearing this.

I was a big fan of them throughout their first album era, but they lost me with the follow up (Roads was ok, but everything I heard after that was a misfire). Taking almost 4 years to follow up the first album wasn't good for their momentum!

Anyway, I'm intrigued and I hope it'll be a return to form!

My favourite singles... Taking Over Me, Standing in the Dark, Learn to Love Again and Juliet

They're not returning, Andy confirmed it on his Instagram Q and A a few days back. He says because Adam lives in New Zeland it isn't easy to make music. They'll just be updating their profile like The Saturdays did.
Great news, a genuine band with great voices who play their own instruments and write their own tracks. Loved both the first two albums so roll on album 3. Beats One Direction any day!

I think the record company they’ve just signed too have different ideas

The singles from their debut are all very good. Juliet is remarkably similar to Shakira's Can't Remember to Forget You.

Andy just posted a ‘Lawson - Where Are They Now’ video on his insta. They are obviously trying to build up to announcing their comeback - shame that Music Week have already done it on their behalf
