Now in 2010 and this one was a big favourite for people on here from what I do recall. Considering Lena represented Germany and then following the countries result in this year's Eurovision...

And our nation followed up a 5th with... a last place and deservedly so. What were they thinking (and also me for even charting it for a week or so oops, must've been out of just support even though it was dated dirge oops.)

Any personal highlights for you from this year outside of Lena?

This:

This whole video is horrendous omg. Right from Terry's comments & gesture to Fearne "and rub goose grease into your chest"... erm?? to Justin Hawkins storming off and then the iconic double announcement of Cyndi/Scooch as the winners!
Big Brovaz, Brian Harvey and Justin Hawkins all missing out to Scooch, yeah looking back this hasn't aged well.

Mind you Brian Harvey and even Justin Hawkins I doubt would have done much better that year. Big Brovaz might have done OK cause Booty Luv were scoring hits at the time.

I really like the Scooch song anyway despite how cheesy and tacky it is!

Scooch's song was amazing, especially as catchy Eurovision entry. In 80s they could have very good result (maybe even win) and possibly Josh too.

Thankfully Lena won over the awful Turkish entry and became the last good winner.

Anna  It's very rare time, when I like Swedish song.

Eurovision in 2011.. (will stop at 2015 I think for this!)

Of course our entry this year came from Blue with 'I Can' which came 11th but if the juries hadn't had their way then we would have seen a 5th placer two years after Jade :drama:

Jedward from X Factor also took part for the first of two consecutive entries representing Ireland

and lastly the runner up to 'Running Scared' was this from Eric Saade who I recall a lot of people preferred over the winner!

Any other memorable moments outside of these for you in 2011?

2012

This needs no introduction... :kink:

For the UK we sent 60s crooner Engelbert Humperdinck which didn't do us many favours. A bit late in his career to do us any big favours I'm afraid but I'm sure a good experience under his belt to say the least.

Latvian entry (Anmary "Beautiful Song") is my all-time # 1 favourite song.

2013 saw Denmark with 20 year old Emelie De Forest and 'Only Teardrops' which peaked at #15 in the UK after. Still a wonderful winner for me.

BBC were at it again with Big stars from the heyday as Bonnie told us to 'Believe In Her and that resulted in a top 20 finish for the UK.

Any other notable moments from this contest?

Some Eurovision classics were performed in 2013.

"Marry Me" and "Et Uus Saaks Alguse" are wonderful.

My Top 10 :

1. Krista Siegfrids - Marry Me (Finland) - 9

2. Birgit Oigemeel - Et Uus Saaks Alguse (Estonia) - 9

3. Bonnie Tyler - Believe In Me (United Kingdom) - 8

4. Moje 3 - Ljubav Je Svuda (Serbia) - 8

5. Takasa - You And Me (Switzerland) - 7

6. Valentina Monetta - Crisalide (San Marino) - 7

7. Cascada - Glorious (Germany) - 6

8. Despina Olympiou - An Me Thimasai (Cyprus) - 6

9. Alyona Lanskaya - Solayoh (Belarus) - 5

10. Emmelie De Forest - Only Teardrops (Denmark) - 5

9 years ago saw Austria win with Conchita Wurst and it indeed Rose Like A Phoenix collecting 290 points and giving Austria their 2nd ever Eurovision win within a 38 years gap since their first.

My preferred winner of the top 2, runner up in the form of Common Linnetts. Was quite the moment this making the official UK top 10 as well!

One of the 4 Eurovision tracks to make the UK TOP 40 at #40 and another highlight for many was Swedens Sanna Nielsen and 'Undo' which completed the final 3 alongside the two above!

For the UK we sent Molly Smitten-Downes with 'Children Of The Universe' which didn't do as well as we hoped with a result of 17th after performing last in the night.

She also was part of that dance group Stunt in the noughties!

Share your highlights of others from 2014 here as well.

Final year for these I'll be posting.

2015 saw 'Heroes' win for Sweden who now as we know won again with Loreen this year.

For the UK in that year... subjective of course but it was never going to set us alight oop.

As ever you can post any memories or moments from this contest or any of the previous 15 years of Eurovision we covered in this thread!

In 2015 year Lithuania won my ESC ranking for the first (and last) time.

Monika Linkyte did a comeback in 2023. Her fresh entry was average song, but much better than everything in top 5.

My top 5 + UK :

1. Monika Linkyte and Vaidas Baumila - This Time (Lithuania) - 8

2. Molly Sterling - Playing With Numbers (Ireland) - 7

3. Maria Elena Kyriakou - One Last Breath (Greece) - 7

4. Maraaya - Here For You (Slovenia) - 7

5. Monika Kuszynska - In The Name Of Love (Poland) - 7

7. Electro Velvet - Still In Love With You (United Kingdom) - 6
