ugh thought recency would help gods plan oh well

I expected "One Dance" to be the biggest landslide of the round. Think I tuned out of the charts between that and "God's Plan" as I never had another consideration.

I picked One Dance because it was no.1 for so long. Janet Jackson was the most popular answer on my Family Fortunes quiz two years ago for acts with no number 1s so I went with her.

Speaking of blasts from the past, here's another one... who remembers Collabro? *.* As expected, they didn't exactly sweep the table. Instead, it's K-Pop stars BTS propped up by indie darlings Blossoms, Foals, and The 1975. Sounds like a festival line-up. In this edition of "Mack's peculiar guesses", it's Feeder - a band who've never had a #1 album, let alone one in the last decade. ;o Oh well.

I picked BTS for the boyband question. I considered them for this one as well but went for Blossoms.

Also, fun fact, I hadn't the foggiest idea what that song was until hosting this introduced me to it :') Some real throwbacks here though - remember the good old days when "High School" and "Bassline Junkie" charted. *.* Wig

Good job I followed the chart thread past few weeks and noted the comments re the Torey Lanez/Chris Brown track :D

It would have been harsh had ‘SAD!’ been banned for bad language seeming that’s there’s only 1 swear word in the entire song :lol:

That one was so difficult. I found an article about songs with swearing in them and picked one that got to number 30. I figured it only got that far because Radio 1 were snubbing it.

Can you explain some of these answers mdh? Some of these were definitely played by radio. Off the top of my head I Love It, Paris, Thotiana and Godzilla have all been playlisted by R1.

From memory, "I Love It" and "Thotiana" were all initially snubbed for a little while after release due to the lack of a sufficient edit. I consider "Paris" to be an entirely different version of the song to the "N*" release, to the extent they don't refer to it by its actual name. And "Godzilla" is... well, I'll give you that one :')

 

EDIT - essentially, as it was a hard question to judge, I thought as long as there was some obvious criteria to suggest that the song would have been snubbed at some stage, it was a valid answer.

I recall Ed saying he expected "Castle" would overtake "Shape of You" and reach #1 eventually. Didn't happen Ed, sorry.

 

So... that leads us to the big question - did Mack think it was a round of Pointless?
