April 12, 20205 yr I expected "One Dance" to be the biggest landslide of the round. Think I tuned out of the charts between that and "God's Plan" as I never had another consideration.
April 12, 20205 yr I picked One Dance because it was no.1 for so long. Janet Jackson was the most popular answer on my Family Fortunes quiz two years ago for acts with no number 1s so I went with her.
April 12, 20205 yr Author 8. Name an artist/group from the past decade with a #1 album, but no top 10 hits. [8] BTS: coi, n4yr, MrAndrewMan, WhoOdyssey, diva thin muffin, girlsaloudjunkie, chrissmith276, PeteFromLeeds, Bré [4] Blossoms: paulglib, Dexton, Jade, Riser, King Rollo [3] The 1975: Bjork, LewisGT, dan.G, Jahq [2] Foals: awardinary, jimwatts, Dan17F1 [1] Bring Me The Horizon: M4NGO, Scene [0] Royal Blood: Dobbo [0] Rick Astley: vibe (technically correct, as although Rick has had a top 10 before, he has not in the 2010's) [0] Liam Gallagher: gavindeejay [0] The Vaccines: West [0] Steps: SamJudd (technically correct, as although Steps have had a top 10 before, he has not in the 2010's) [0] Collabro: Jordan Lee [0] Marina & The Diamonds: tgl92 [0] Michael Ball & Alfie Boe: xajnipi [0] WRONG - Feeder: Mack http://www.ukmusicreviews.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/Article-Collabro.jpg Speaking of blasts from the past, here's another one... who remembers Collabro? *.* As expected, they didn't exactly sweep the table. Instead, it's K-Pop stars BTS propped up by indie darlings Blossoms, Foals, and The 1975. Sounds like a festival line-up. In this edition of "Mack's peculiar guesses", it's Feeder - a band who've never had a #1 album, let alone one in the last decade. ;o Oh well.
April 12, 20205 yr I picked BTS for the boyband question. I considered them for this one as well but went for Blossoms.
April 12, 20205 yr FFS, expected The 1975 to do better with their multiple #1 albums, damn you BTS <_<
April 12, 20205 yr Well apparently I totally forgot BTS existed throughout this whole quiz Glad Blossoms picked up points!
April 12, 20205 yr Author 9. Name a track from the past decade that has been snubbed by radio due to too much swearing. [5] Tory Lanez "The Take" (feat. Chris Brown): Dobbo, WhoOdyssey, LewisGT, dan.G, PeteFromLeeds, chrissmith276 [3] XXXTENTACION "SAD!": paulglib, jimwatts, girlsaloudjunkie, gavindeejay [2] 6ix9ine "FEFE" (feat. Murda Beatz & Nicki Minaj): Bjork, MrAndrewMan, Riser [2] Kanye West & Lil Pump "I Love It" (feat. Adele Givens): coi, n4yr, diva thin muffin [1] Jay Z & Kanye West "N*ggaz in Paris": awardinary, xajnipi [0] Nicki Minaj "Only" (feat. Drake, Lil Wayne & Chris Brown): vibe [0] Drake "HYFR" (feat. Lil Wayne): West [0] Poundz "Opp Thot": M4NGO [0] M Huncho "Thumb" (feat. Nafe Smallz): Jade [0] Cee-Lo Green "F*** You": SamJudd [0] Blueface "Thotiana": Bré [0] Eminem "Godzilla" (feat. Juice WRLD): Jordan Lee [0] Migos "Bad & Boujee" (feat. Lil Uzi Vert): King Rollo [0] Calvin Harris "Open Wide" (feat. Big Sean): Dan17F1 [0] The Pogues "Fairytale Of New York" (feat. Kirsty MacColl): tgl92 [0] A$AP Rocky "F*ckin' Problems" (feat. Drake, 2 Chainz & Kendrick Lamar): Scene [0] Dizzee Rascal "Bassline Junkie": Dexton [0] Nicki Minaj "High School" (feat. Lil Wayne): Mack [0] WRONG: N/A: Jahq Now this one was a BLOODBATH! It'd have been a wonderful showing if this was a round of Pointless... but it isn't. Tory Lanez' "The Take" was marginally the most popular answer here, scoring 6 contestants a whopping 5 points. Oh well, every little helps. Also, fun fact, I hadn't the foggiest idea what that song was until hosting this introduced me to it :') Some real throwbacks here though - remember the good old days when "High School" and "Bassline Junkie" charted. *.* Wig Edited April 12, 20205 yr by mdh
April 12, 20205 yr Ha I thought some other people may pick Dance Monkey for the "Dance" track! Good shout on BTS though :)
April 12, 20205 yr Good job I followed the chart thread past few weeks and noted the comments re the Torey Lanez/Chris Brown track :D
April 12, 20205 yr It would have been harsh had ‘SAD!’ been banned for bad language seeming that’s there’s only 1 swear word in the entire song

Some of these were definitely played by radio. Off the top of my head I Love It, Paris, Thotiana and Godzilla have all been playlisted by R1.
April 12, 20205 yr Ooh I was close to going for 'FEFE'! Never mind, not many points to pick up for that one
April 12, 20205 yr That one was so difficult. I found an article about songs with swearing in them and picked one that got to number 30. I figured it only got that far because Radio 1 were snubbing it.
April 12, 20205 yr Author Can you explain some of these answers mdh? Some of these were definitely played by radio. Off the top of my head I Love It, Paris, Thotiana and Godzilla have all been playlisted by R1. From memory, "I Love It" and "Thotiana" were all initially snubbed for a little while after release due to the lack of a sufficient edit. I consider "Paris" to be an entirely different version of the song to the "N*" release, to the extent they don't refer to it by its actual name. And "Godzilla" is... well, I'll give you that one :') EDIT - essentially, as it was a hard question to judge, I thought as long as there was some obvious criteria to suggest that the song would have been snubbed at some stage, it was a valid answer. April 12, 20205 yr I thought 6ix9ine - Fefe would have had more voters, that's the only one I could think of actually

Ok thanks! Don’t worry, I’m just salty that I picked a bad choice :D
April 12, 20205 yr Author 10. Name an Ed Sheeran single that failed to hit #1. [18] "Castle on The Hill": paulglib, jimwatts, n4yr, Scene, MrAndrewMan, WhoOdyssey, West, tgl92, Dan17F1, SamJudd, diva thin muffin, girlsaloudjunkie, dan.G, Jordan Lee, Jade, Bré, gavindeejay, chrissmith276, King Rollo [4] "The A Team": Dobbo, vibe, Bjork, coi, Jahq [2] "South of the Border": LewisGT, PeteFromLeeds, Riser [1] "Photograph": M4NGO, xajnipi [0] "Galway Girl": awardinary [0] "Happier": Dexton [0] "Hush Little Baby": Mack And so we reach our last question - some unexpected choices here, most notably "Hush Little Baby" (which I didn't know existed), and "Happier" (which I forgot existed) ;o. But despite some varied decisions, "Castle On The Hill", Ed's catchy counterpart to the monstrous hit that was "Shape of You" leads by a landslide here! I recall Ed saying he expected "Castle" would overtake "Shape of You" and reach #1 eventually. Didn't happen Ed, sorry. So... that leads us to the big question - did Mack think it was a round of Pointless? And another big question - who WON? You'll find out in 5 minutes ;) Edited April 12, 20205 yr by mdh
April 12, 20205 yr Probably end up mid table. Had both the big Ed answers and the Drake answer but also two duds with Westlife and Dance Monkey!
