Charity singles are so damn cringey. I can't even appreciate the sentiment because the cynic in me just imagines a bunch of artists/managers desperately fighting to either come up with the song themselves and get the goodwill PR or otherwise fighting to get a spot on a likely #1 song.

And there's no way this was all done in quarantine....

I’m surprised Lewis Capaldi isn’t part of this giving he’s the biggest new artist around at the minute who Radio 1 love. Also Paloma Faith is a strange choice for a Radio 1 single since they’ve not playlisted her own songs in years.

This is getting HUGE support on Apple Music! Top of quite a few playlists there and lots of adverts too.

Apple Music app showing it at #17! But not showing up on Kworb for some reason?

Apple are ALL over this - 4 banners on the iTunes home page and top of their new music releases.

So this impressively entered the chart at number five on just 12 hours of sales!

The rival chart show will surely find it even harder to pretend this doesn't exist now

Seriously though - what an achievement, 46k of pure sales in 12 hours with the majority of them happening in the last few hours of Thursday night.

Due to the show airing late I think this could still be a contender for #1 as people wouldn’t have magically stopped buying it at 12 last night.

The Big Top 40 also only includes iTunes and Apple Music (I think) - the two platforms it's doing best on!

Yeah, just those and of course airplay from their own stations which I imagine would be the only thing keeping it from being number one there!

and it's hardly slowed down today on iTunes, right now it's still doing 20 times more than Blinding Lights

And don't forget it's A-listed on R1 so they're gonna be playing the hell out of it over the week, and I'm sure the artists involved will be promoting it on their socials too. It could have a real shot at #1 next week.

I waited until today to download my copy as I didn’t want to ‘waste’ my sale by buying it on Thursday  Little did I know that it would be heading towards a Top 5 placing today!

It's probably better to have it counting to this week anyway as it turns out, there was a huge gap from both #4 and #6!

It'll be interesting to see if these successes will lead to another charity single challenging LadBaby at Christmas! (If he releases one of course)
#5 in 12 hours of sales. That is bloody impressive in today's charts.

Very impressive, god knows when it will happen again.

Amazed to see this getting worldwide success too! :o

#18 on iTunes in the USA, and top ten in Australia and Germany!

Love that this is getting recognition elsewhere - it is a good collaboration and the impact of having people’s faves on the song helps sales.

I'd love this to go to 1, purely to immortalise the song. And to give Dave Grohl his chart trophy!

Its original chart placing is woeful, stellar for a rock act today though!
