Welcome to the ANTI Survivor 2020 Edition

It's been more than four years since ANTI came out. It is the eighth studio album by our favourite superstar Rihanna. The album was marked by critics and fans as a departure of Rihanna's previous music incorporated dance and club genres and is a primarily R&B, Hip Hop and Pop record with elements of dancehall and soul. The album featured production focused minimalist production to have the focus on Rih's voice. The instrumentals from the songs on the album were sparsely layered and interesting.

Personally, this is my favourite album from Rihanna, her voice has never sounded better on a record overall! ANTI really shown the GP how Rihanna has grown as an vocalist and an artist.

Pose is my least favourite track!

 

Great review on the album though. Possibly one of the biggest growers ever for me I really didn’t get it at first yet now it’s like mid table for me for her discography.

 

Not an album full of huge highs for me but it’s consistent, cohesive and it flows well.

 

Tracks 9-13 are all fantastic and are the best part of the album for me.

'Goodnight Gotham' first for me. It's nice as an interlude but I don't really consider it a Rihanna song as such.

For the record, I voted for Goodnight Gotham which wrongly took the place of BBHMM on the deluxe version. It's probably my least favourite Rih "song" post AGLM.

BBHMM really should've made the album :'(

It's hard to judge the two interludes with the rest of the album (although I love listening to them both individually, probably listened to James Joint more than half the album :')) but I went for Close To You which is a snoozefest. Once that and 'Higher' are out it's a 10/10 album *.*

Yeah I Said It for me. I need to give the whole album a spin again for this but I know this song left me unimpressed at first. -_-

Goodnight Gotham is quite a nice little into like track but it’s weirdly placed on the album. Not shocked it’s leading.

 

Like personally I think it might’ve worked more towards the start of the album or even as the opener.

 

Having it as track 14 is odd.

 

The first 13 tracks flow really well though it’s the bonus tracks what disrupt the flow of it but Sex With Me is better than over half the standard edition for me :lol:

Consideration / Same Ol' Mistakes / Work / Kiss It Better need to be the top 4.

Definitely an album of two halves for me. I could make a good album out of my favourites and the three 2015 singles.
